Pickleball is spreading

Drank two gallons of leprosy vomit tonight. In one continuous gulp. Am new to leprosy vomit and I found the transition from champagne easy.
No need to insult leprosy patients. they are human beans too.

Did you also transition from caviar to dingleberry ?

The sound. The premise. Abhorrent clickety clack noise. Disgust. It’s not a sport that produces legendary GOAT battles.

There is no maestro of pickle ball.

It is a cancer stealing tennis courts in clubs and public parka across America.

UTR, Instagram tennis hoars, and pickle ball are destroying tennis.

Make Tennis Great Again
So I'll ask again, have you actually tried playing pickleball???

I got totally geared up. But it was hard finding the pickleball equivelent of the full Federer outfit and gear. So I made due. Still looks legit. Biggest pickle bag. 12 paddles. Matching outfit and shoes. Then went to my first pocket meet. They duded understood. As they all knew inside they are posers as well.

Reporter: Enrique, you’re married to Anna Kounikova, but have you actually tried having sex with a 600 pound ape man with leaking contagious syphilis and herpes wounds?

Enrique: no.
Thanks. Just wanted to confirm that you are in fact closed minded.

Pickle and badminton destroys muscle memory tennis strokes.

It is a ridiculous reality that it is taking over public parks and private club courts.

It’s an absolute abomination to tennis and should not be accepted and recognized within the same sporting family.

Pickle ball has nothing to do with tennis. At all.

Badminton destroyed my two handed backhand after playing it for high school PE class.

True story. It made my left arm numb to properly executing a two hander. Has not come back ever since.

F badminton.

F pickle ball.

That's the bottom line. Pickleball, fun or not, isn't tennis, period. If you couldn't play it on a tennis court, we'd never see it.
Some courts may dislike it, but these days it's hard to turn down the additional revenue it brings.
It is invasive, especially to serious tennis players, when you're trying to focus on a critical set point and there's a horde of giggle-teehee pickleballers on the next court, or your favorite court has pickleball stripes taped all over it.
I recently played on a muny court with beautiful, spotless, dark green Hartru. Some idiot pickleballers had used big chalk (the kind little kids doodle on the sidewalk with) to draw bright yellow pickleball lines on it. I mean, really. And I'm sure they didn't just HAPPEN to have that chalk with them.

It seems that even pickleball ball machines have arrived in the market!

And new pickleball-specific court surfaces!
What's your pickleball specialty, singles or doubles? I bet it's singles ... why have a partner when you can do it all yourself :giggle:

I love all the complaints about the noise, and how hard it is to focus on your important point. If your game is thrown off that much by the sound of a plastic ball hitting a paddle, there's probably little hope for you...

What about the noise spreading to non-players nearby?

Some of you "players" on this board should just seal yourselves off in a sound proof bubble so as to not be disturbed. As someone who played in tournaments on major thoroughfares and near naval airbases the thought that you can't focus on play because of Pickleball nearby is quite humorous!

Nude pickleball is dangerous for court-rash when laying out for the ball. Clay or grass pickleball courts would be better.

Played a league doubles match in a public facility with 10 courts in-a-row. Horseshoe pits, bocce, and shuffleboard. Country club players lost it when an ambulance drove-by. Memorable match

The last time I played when P-ballers were next door, I just felt great, realizing they were admiring my shotmaking.

Sad to say, we have Pickleball only facilities. Picklers complained about tennis players and they weren't having it.

Wow. So they took over the tennis courts and kicked tennis players out?

Pretty ballsy.

The interesting thing also is that America has about 20,000 unused racquetball courts. Beware of sports fads. . . how many people today actively engage in "disc golf"?

We had sooooooooooooooooo many folks involved in disc golf that parking became difficult. On windy days, discs would fly over the fence onto the courts. Think that is bad? Built a bike motocross park behind the courts. Some old tennis courts that were unused, we had over 200 public courts in the city, were/are re-purposed for pickleball only. Same for indoor pickleball at the Y. Silver Sneakers for seniors

It's spreading like wildfire. I've seen it and the momentum is unbelievable. Quite a few tennis players and platform tennis players I know play pickle. I've played it and it was okay, but I didn't find it that great. I'd rather wait until I'm a little older before I play consistently.

The thing I prefer about paddle, platform and ping pong is they don't have the f*cked up scoring that pickleball uses.

I tried pickleball the other day for the first time, as a formerly high ranked tennis player. My observations are that it is way too easy once you get the hang of it, the sound the ball makes is kinda horrible when it hits the bat, there is no satisfaction hitting the ball and the scoring system is SOOOOOO STUPID WHAT THE F. Why make it that you have to break both of your opponents serve to serve yourself then score a point?? Its the stupidest thing I have ever heard of since kanye wests new album.

I can see the appeal for people who struggle to play tennis, either beginners or older people who cant move so well as its a lot easier to pick up. I had a question the other day and i am pretty sure there is no pro pickleball players that grew up playing pickleball and not tennis.

Substitute a foam ball for the wiffleball may cool the tennis players'' jets/objections. Or earplugs

It isnt tennis and I understand it isnt, just was my observations as a tennis player. A foam ball would not work due to wind outside, but like a red dot tennis ball could work, or maybe an orange one. Actually just make the ball out of a different material, maybe cork like a shuttlecock in badminton?

I'm sure technology has advanced enough to make a ball of similar aerodynamics, weight, bounce characteristics out of softer materials than hard plastic.
The sound is off putting and the feel offers nothing as satisfying as a golf or tennis shot off the sweet spot. You can fix that with a bit more technology now that the numbers are there.

Used to play a version of racquetball with a needled-out ball and a wooden racquet BITD. That may be too much weight/work for those kelli picklers.

I play there every couple months when I’m in town. Saw Sam Querrey there in July a week after his loss to Nadal at Wimby19.
I'm jealous. I saw the courts while I was visiting, but didn't play there. Such a great location -the ocean, people watching, and a fun activity on top of that.

I was keen to find a way to play platform tennis a few years back; looked pretty dynamic.

Tennis. If you get used to the exotic spins and smashes of table tennis, PBall will appear crude to you.
Somewhere someone is plasti-dipping Mr. Wiffleball and adding 40-grit paper to that paddle. Killerspin, where art thou?

My AARP magazine informs me that the organization will be actively promoting Pickleball for its health benefits for seniors. They cite camaraderie, ease of building the facilities, ease of play, and non-strenuous movement in doubles, and the fact that it is already the rage in senior living communities.

The AARP is a very active behind-the-scenes lobbying body. If they get into this, expect PBall to grow exponentially.

Which sport do you think provides the best foundation for a new pickle ball player .... tennis or table tennis (ping pong) ?
I'd say doubles tennis first, then ping pong. I think singles tennis offers very little to pickle ball skills. It's all touch volleys/half-volleys and smashes.
