Plantar Fascia & PRP therapy

Hi, I have a full depth, half width tear in my Plantar Fascia. I have just had a Platelet Rich Plasma injection/treatment a week ago and it has been suggested I will need two more goes. As the treatment was fairly painful and there are no guarantees as to its effectiveness I am not sure if I should continue or not. It is 4 weeks since I did it and I felt it was healing ok with strapping and anti-inflammatory s, however after the treatment where they tell you that they inject directly into the tear and stir it up to initiate healing I felt I went backwards a bit. It does however feel pretty reasonable one week on. Given ligaments and tendons have very poor blood supplies the treatment does make sense but I wasn't convinced about the re-injury to the tear as a result of the injection.Has anyone had PRP injections and did they work?
Cheers Greg

I enquired about PRP injections in 2016 (heelbone bursitis) and was told that it is not covered by insurance as it is unproven and considered experimental. If that is still the case, I would be weary of taking PRP treatments because there is a high likelihood doctors are just trying to sell you treatments.

You are right, it isn't covered by insurance and the thought did cross my mind about 'selling' treatments

I've been saying this a lot in this section but ASTYM therapy is something I would like into. I was treated with it for Golfers elbow but it can be used for plantar fasciitis as well.
