Players thought Nole was the legitimate number 1

Even though Carlos is media darling and people celebrated his year end number 1, and think of him as number 1, Greg Rudesky says players thought Nole was the number 1.

"World No 1 loses in the semis — ‘What’s going on.’ Let’s be honest, he (Alcaraz) was World No 1 for most of this year but all the players still think Novak is No 1 because he wasn’t allowed to play the Indian Wells, Miami, all the majors he missed as well because of his stance that he had with Covid as well, not getting vaccinated.

So you gotta look at all those things that were around the whole situation for Novak. I think Novak felt he was No 1 even though the ranking didn’t say so," Rusedski said on Tennis Channel's Inside-In podcast

Isn't this one of those irrelevant comments.
Real 1 vs. Real 2. Either way everyone on tour and the world knows Djoker and Alcaraz are the big threats, the real threats on tour.

If you meet either one of them in the tournament, are you like, "Djokovic isn't number one anymore, I'm winning today."
You never count out great players.
It will be a long time before we count Djoker out. A long time.

You’d think that with 24 of these goddamned things that people would learn how to act like they’ve been there before… but this is what happens when achievements and bean counting becomes the entire focus, the smallest abnormality becomes an affront

Makes the rest of us look bad too

Well, the official number 1 did beat the 'legitimate' number 1 in a Slam final so that sort of confers legitimacy on him too.

Fortunately, there’s a very easy objective way to determine who the #1 is. The old man could play more tournaments if he wanted more points, but then he would end up hurt and still would get #1.

OK, Djokovic is the real Number One. Happy?
Now, dejá de romper las pelotas. Thank you.

This is for last year. Nole was BANNED by politicians from playing tournaments. He didn't need much to subside the kid. This year also the race isn't over even though fully fit Nole was banned from USA

Nole was not banned. He decided not to participate because he would not tolerate the Immoral Vax laws and mandates that 99.9% of the foreign tour accepted. And this proved that he was better than anyone in the corrupt Western tennis tour.
He chose to self-ban, to redeem himself later.
So then, Revenge Time came, and he defeated the Australia, the US and the Canada in a war of attrition.
He did it for you. He did ir for me. Not just for his family and friends, and his equity.
Which is infinitely worthier.

I think you did not quite understand The Message.

Him being “absent” last year just made AO and USO this year that much more epic.

I don't see why it matters to the other players, it's not like they have that great a shot at beating either of them so it's not like it matters which one is #1 and which is #2

Alcaraz is beaten many times this year. Nole is beaten many times but on clay where at his age he cares about rg only.

I genuinely don't understand how you guys manage to know it when a poster got banned. I can only make a guess if a poster has suddenly stopped posting for a few weeks.

when you typing his name in search and he aint appearing up there it means he got banned usually

Well it’s how the point system works and the tournaments you play that lists the rankings. Most of us would assume that if you won 3 out of the 4 GS and finalist in the other one then you should teach that number one spot,
However it’s the points collected overall in the whole year that spits out the rankings. I remember when Thomas Muster was number one and had only played events on clay and he collected a lot of points.
Btw it does take long to slip in the rankings with Nick slipping to around 492 since his injuries and lack of tennis,

EXactly why rankings mean little as to who wzs a greater player. Its about who performs best when it matters most which djokovic clearly has this season.
