Players want more money

Countries that deindustrialise can't fight wars and sports that destroy their player pipelines can't create a vibrant sporting contest.

We now have a sport domiinated by one male player. This is not an accident.

Players below 100 make the tour BUT they’re nameless .. meaning they’re easily expendable. What if the players ranked 100-200 boycotted tennis? Nothing! players below them will take their place and im sure nobody would even know the difference in playing level ! And believe you me the players below would love to take their place with the current prize $ !
i would but im hard core like that . I wouldn’t watch outside top 100 tho thats amateur tennis
Arnaldi, Berrettini, Wawrinka, Bashilashvili, Schoolkate, Dimitrov are all outside the Top 100

Players should be given all the money they want, including Trungelliti.

A significant portion of the revenue should be shared with ticket buyers, I gently suggest around 50%. Without ticket buyers you will have another 2020 USO with only player coaches/family and no fans situation and no one wants that disaster again. I think a reasonable starting point is for every ticket you purchase you are given by year end 150% of its face value until ticket buyers have in aggregate received 50% of the tournament revenue for the year. I will forward this idea to Dr Raul for analysis and further refinement of the details.

Thank you so much for showing me so many innovative paths toward making tennis big again. And this is before we have even heard Dr. Raul’s thoughts on the matter.

Oh yeah lets give players more money when the world number one chokes 4-1 30-0 up

Lets give Sinner more money when he's up 5-1 in the 3rd and dies from the heat

Lets give Bublik more money when he loses R1

Lets give De Minaur more money when he hits amateur level club shots into then net

Lets give Tiafoe more money when he loses to Watanuki Indian Wells 2025 R2

Lets give challenger players more money when there's a high rate of match fixing

Lets give more money to the double faulters of the WTA

Lets give more money to players who do nothing for 50% of the season, make 2 or 3 decent runs and tank opening rounds.

Before they ask for more money, how about putting on more of a show. The same work ethic from these "professionals" wouldn't cut in on a job site as a labourer. They'd get dropped/sacked immediately.

This is one of silliest arguments I have ever read. The fact that we've had a slightly topsy-turvy French Open is supposedly evidence that players are over-paid.

The fact is that unpredictability has breathed life into this iteration of the French Championship.

And the other fact is that since when was the real contest supposed to begin in R1 and R2? Sensibly people don't even tune in before the Round of 16.

I was wondering if this round of favourites losing would send our resident gambler into a spiral.

And here he is, like clockwork.

Put yourself in the shoes of the people trying to sell tennis as a sport.

I will tell you that Schnaider will lose for no reason to much lower ranked WTA players time and time again through the year.

Chwalinska will fade after the FO, not as hard as Boission from last years but she won't do much else

How are you supposed to market the sport with all these upsets of top players? I laugh thinking about Bublik and De Minaur as Top 10 players compared to the likes of Nalbandian, players with real skill and determination and kicking ability.

The sport is missing talent pools with all the right tools. Half of these players who are in the top 30 think their lives are made because they can afford to make deep runs twice a year and they're safe.

Because of the large fields in slams they can give rise to unpredictability, whereas the ATP/WTA favours the top 30.

So that's the explanation for a certain distaste for boil overs.
At least I am keeping my eye on the numbers, you're sitting back in Hollywood land thinking about feelings e.g. the poor players.

I am not paying higher ticket prices to see the smorgasbord of Medvedev, Bublik, Fokina, Tsitsipas....

I used to be able to pay $50 AUD 2014 to see Nadal R1 front row Rod Laver Arena, now it's $150 excluding club fees you have to pay to get access and you run the risk of getting Tiafoe vs some Aussie player....no thanks.

Inflation has come along a lot since 2014. And part of the fun of a slam is to discover a break-out star.

If you're not buying tickets at the AO, then a lot still seem to do so. I certainly wouldn't pay that much for a lucky dip, so there we agree.

You give me a chuckle. Love your work.
C'mon, stop hiding behind the righteousness. Be honest for once.

You don't give two craps about the sport.
None of us does.

The only thing I need is for tennis to be pretty, because I have no money on it.

The only thing you need is for it to be predictable, because you do.

You want me to say I haven't made money from non-favourites. Sorry to say I have. I didn't lose money on Sabalenka because I'm not silly enough to take 1.11 H2H

Her result reflects the state of the game. I watched most of it, she lost it hitting stupid balls and having no mental game.

Betting and ranking system grumble aside, the tour is still turning into a giant challenger tour outside Sinner, Alcaraz and Zverev.

Shelton could barely beat any South-American ranked outside top 100 on clay.

Arnaldi vs Cobolli FO 2026 Final is what happens when the tour is so inconsistent, injury prone and lacking a hierachcical skill ranking system.

Chwalinska or Bossion two years in a row - it will happen a third time next year

At least Arnaldi de-Tiafoed the draw. I thought you’d appreciate him for that.
