ok so whats your point

Russel is a Grand Slam fundamentalist who believes the term only applies to winning all 4 slams in a season.

The fact that the ITF has trademarked the term Grand Slam and says that:

The Grand Slam® tournaments - Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon and US Open - are the most prestigious individual competitions in tennis. The ITF works closely with each tournament through its presence on the Grand Slam Committee, providing administrative, officiating and media support

Four of the ITF's leading National Associations - Tennis Australia, French Federation of Tennis, United States Tennis Association and, in the case of Wimbledon, a joint Committee of Management consisting of The All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club and Lawn Tennis Association - own and organise the Grand Slams.

Federer won 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 Wimbledon.

Just on Sampras, he was happy to get the reigning USO champion monkey off his back, the clown. Connors ripped into him and rightly so.

Edberg won his first at 1984 Australian Open and defended his in 1986.

There was no 1985 edition.

You're a year too early. Edberg won the 1985 Australian Open and defended it over 13 months later in 1987. There was no 1986 edition.

It was at the end of the year back then, which is why it was skipped so often by the top guys.

Connors won his Australian Open title in January 1974.

Up to, and including, the January 1977 Australian Open, the tournament was held either in an early January slot, or in a late December - early January slot. It moved to December, around the Christmas period, starting with the December 1977 version, and stayed there up to 1981. From 1982 to 1985, the Australian Open had a late November - early December slot. In 1986, there was no Australian Open. In 1987, the Australian Open moved to its current slot of mid-late January.

You can trademark lots of things that are already in use. If you looked up the words "grand slam", you'd likely find more than several trademarks on it.
