Players you enjoy destruction of

Funny reading these comments. So many are saying Serena (not a surprise being where we are ) and hardly none say Sharapova. Whereas on social media and Youtube, they salivated watching Serena beat the dog poo out of her over and over. I think we have a lot of closet Sharapova fans on here.

Nadal for sure. Watching Djokovic dismantling him at the Australian open was probably one of the most enjoyable matches I have watched.

I think the players I enjoy watching getting a beatdown are the ones who are rude or do something that is clearly poor gamesmanship so players like Nadal or Kyrgios come to mind and I remember Bouchard going full clutch to take down Sharapova once during the whole drugs ban phase.

A part of me hates myself for it, but I genuinely do root against Nadal and Djokovic every single time I watch them play.

I wish I could sit back and just appreciate these legends while they're still active, but my brain just won't let it. I really try to and I think sometimes I can, but even after they pull off a jaw dropping highlight against a nobody in the 2nd round of a 500 tournament, I still revert to rooting against them the very next point.

Unlike some haters, I don’t like the big 3 losing against clowns when they are playing bad. If the opponent plays good , then I am okay .

But big 3 facing each other is what gets the adrenaline .

It is a shame if you root for random mugs to beat your idols rival because they are a threat to your idol

No it isn't :p

The slam race will probably come down to 1-2 random losses against mugs anyway tbh

Well, I value quality wins over your big rivals when they are at their peak than beating the Andersons and the likes

I know, im half trolling :) I certainly don't mind when Djokovic loses, but I don't watch his matches or wait on it to happen either 8-B

I'm not a fan of either of those two and against most other opponents I'll root for them to lose. But I like watching Serena beat up Sharapova time and time again :D

It's so, so brutal. I liked it till a few years ago, then I started feeling sorry for Masha. Serena gets in this angry girl zone all match when she'd play Maria that was scary.

USO18 must've been the turning point.

I for one enjoyed watching Kvitova destroy Masha at the Wimbledon final. Similar dynamic to the Sabalenka bashings. It's very funny when a player screams like hell for every shot and the other player simply pulverizes the ball without making a sound.

I am not completely opposed to grunting but the ones who grunt loud and long for forehand slices, I cannot stand.

The Kvitova throttling was entertaining. Lol. Yea I never understood females screaming like that on the court especially when they don't do it in practice.

Closet? Sharapova? Yes this is me.

Any player who disproportionately grunts, screams, shrieks, etc. As far as I can see the main purpose is to distract or intimidate the opponent. Completely unnecessary and bad sportsmanship.
I just discovered possibly the most distracting of grunters while watching a Jannik Sinner highlights reel from 2019. He played and thankfully silenced the obnoxiously loud Canadian Steven Diez in three sets at the Ostrava Challenger. This guy is 10x worse than either Joao Sousagroan or Marcel Grunthollers.

My ears started ringing at 1:15, then recovered until 2:46 only to be assaulted again then and at 5:15:

I always enjoy watching Serena losing. Also used to love watching/hearing of Bouchard losing. Now that she's gone I am happier than ever.

And I always enjoyed watching Murray lose. Too overrated, waaay too overrated. Big 4 they say, let's see him losing. I have to admit I found him to be a nice man but it is because of his fans that I enjoy watching him lose. And I don't like his shots.

None. Not a single player I can think of that I enjoy watching lose... :sneaky:
Ditto. Losing was always intensely painful to me, so even when a player I'm rooting for wins, I always feel sorry for the loser. Probably the only exception is when I feel a player is essentially cheating and getting away with it. I'll turn against that player, hoping he/she is not rewarded with a win.

To be honest, at times, yes. But mostly I just need fast forward to deal with the slowness of his matches. :)

I don't know what I'll do when tennis resumes. We got rid of cable, and I had Tennis TV on cable. I always taped matches, to watch without the delays. Not sure what I will do in the future.

You won't have to worry about it for some time as I am not sure that one will get the same experience watching empty stadiums and dead silence. It is not a nice feeling and will remind about other things. I myself will not be watching much tennis (if any) in the coming months, even if there is something to watch. A conscious decision to let it go until better times arrive. In the meantime there is plenty of reading and old videos to watch, along with some outdoor activities (including tennis) to be had.

There is probably more that just grind my gears for one reason or another that I can't think of right now. Murray used to be one of them but since his injury and long absence, I have actually started to cheer for him despite his play style being boring. I like him where he is, not as a world number 1 human pong machine.

Everyone likes a underdog, no?

If anyone is dominating I like to see them taken down, apart from Nadal as he is my favourite he can win everything

As I've mellowed I appreciate the greats more rather than me rooting for the opponent, however as Serena used to make so many matches look easy I really looked forward to seeing someone bring her down. Novak is such a master that really regardless of the match circumstances we are really watching an immense talent to be appreciated while he's around.

I always liked her, clearly she made a big mistake with the Selenium but I think she was trying to regain her career after injuries. I miss her on the tour made it a more interesting place

Nobody, really. For a while Berd rubbed me the wrong way for his childish petulance (OMG my opponent dared hit right at me while I was at the net!) but my irritation never rose to wanting to see the man-baby lose.

I'll admit it did get pretty close to that level with Serena when she used to be such a sore loser, but now that she's the bane of racist/anti-woke troglodytes I try to root for her whenever possible.

Never like seeing anyone lose, but I do think it's hilarious seeing The Mad Lad Medvedev "get into trouble" during a match and thinking his way out of it.

Love the hijincks and the way he gets angry without losing sight of the bigger picture, and figuring a way out of the match.

Is it farting in the bath? I think we can officially confirm that those ducklings are no longer fans of the good tennis

Empty stands WTT is going on from The Greenbrier in West Virginia and being telecast on ESPN2. It makes for nice background noise and an occasional eyeballing but I’m not tempted to watch like it’s a normal Tour match.

That's just being realistic, isn't it? As a Djokovic fan, let's say he's waiting in the final of RG and Nadal-Isner play the second semi. You're seriously telling me you're not rooting like hell for Isner to beat Rafa?

Maybe because nobody watched her matches? Ugly game to begin with, layered with those hideous shrieks!? Unwatchable!

I don't think her game is ugly. She actually had some really good strokes. Maybe a little one dimensional but a really good player nonetheless. I agree that the shrieks took away from her tennis though.
