Players You Hate to See Exit

Are there players you enjoy seeing play, but seldom (or never) make it past the quarterfinals in a major?

For me, on the womens' side, Flavia Panneta. She's expressive and just plain fun to watch, much more than the platoon of screeching, fist-pumping 'ovas that seem to assault every major.

On the men's side, Delpo and Gasquet come to mind. I love Delpo's "big game" (I really want to see him bag a few more majors), and Gasquet has an incredible arsenal of shots. Plus, you gotta respect someone who has the cojones to tell officials he got cocaine in his system from kissing a girl and the self-control to not break into uncontrollable, hysterical laughter.

On the other side (players who do well but I don't find particularly interesting), Wozniacki comes to mind. Why can't a girl who stands 5'11" generate some damn offense? And David Ferrer..............although I think he is a good player, why must he be on The Tennis Channel every time that I turn the television on during the clay court season? I'm really getting tired of the off-blue color he wears so much.

I feel you with Flavia. Kirilenko also.

on the men's side mostly Frenchmen, Gasquet Tsonga and Simon. Always Roddick..

also, I hate seeing Isner go, his post match interview in AO after losing to Cilic was particularly heartbreaking

Stanislas Wawrinka... it's always tough because he is usually placed in a draw where he has to play his buddies in Gael, Tsonga and then run into Federer, who he never plays well against.

Kim Clijsters. She's the mature one in the WTA, gives great interviews and is an all round nice person as well as being a great player.

You got lucky. Gasquet and Simon are still in RG.

Cilic - that idiot had potential
Nalby - injury prone, had the talent to achieve way more
Gasquet - dont give a shiit about the guy, but it kills me to see that BH exit the tournament.
Tsonga - What a beast he was at AO08

Nalbandian - huge potential if on.
Hewitt - always nice to have a fighter deep in the draw.
Baghdatis - can bring quality to any match if he is willing to play.

And lately, I have to say dolgo, has a quirky style but he looks like he means business.

Cilic has gone flying backwards and really needs to sort himself out soon. I once thought he could follow on the heels of Del Potro but he looks several leagues away from that right now.

It seems amazing to me that Nalbandian never managed to better or equal the Wimbledon final he made in 2002. Since then look at what a great player he became and how he continued (though never consistantly) to give hell to Federer, Nadal etc, while his executor in that 2002 final, Hewitt looked increasingly impotent and like yesterdays man. How does a guy reach a slam final as a novice, become a BETTER player, hold the key to defeating the top guys and yet still fail to even make another slam final? A combination of temperment, injury and bad luck I guess.

Gasquet is such a talented player but mentally he checks out so often it really annoys me. Just once would I like to see him win in 5 sets, especially if he's been pegged back from 2 sets up. At Wimbledon he collapsed against Murray when he'd outplayed him for the best part of 3 sets. Leading by 2 sets to love and serving for the match he cracked. Although Murray drew on the crowd and played some great tennis, there was no doubt Gasquet threw away the match. What's worse is having expressed a desire to play Murray in front of his home crowd, he again blew a 2 sets to love lead at the French Open last year. Unlike Tsonga and Monfils, Gasquet seems unwilling to engage the crowd to his advantage (a practice I actually hate, but when your opponent has done it to you, why not?)

I like Tsonga's game but his crowd stirring kind of gets on my nerves. He is a guy I really enjoy watching though as long as I don't really care who wins. But he does play some entertaining stuff.

Good choices, as you can see I picked most of them as well.

As my handle suggest - I'm a Maria Sharapova fan - and I always have been - So of course I've seen her crash a number of times since she's come back from her shoulder surgery in 2009

It has taken Masha a while to get back on track - regain confidence - her timing - serve and heavy ground strokes

But I say - she's close to her best now - and although she's a screeching, fist-pumping ova  - She's defeated all the top players and slam winners of her time in tournament finals - like Serena - Venus - Kim - Justine - Lindsay - Martina - to name some

So - I don't mind that she's a screeching, fist-pumping ova - - Why are there still people whining like spoiled infants about that?- sheesh - Stop watching WTA matches if that bothers you that much

BTW - I've nothing against Penetta - She seems like a nice person - She's beautiful and a skilled tennis player - but not at all at the same level as Masha

Ana Ivanovic
Shuai Peng
Li Na

Djokovic
JMDP
Murray
Nishikori
Tsonga

Ana Ivanovic, Julia Goerges, Maria Sharapova, Gisela Dulko, Flavia Penneta... by this moment you got my drift...

these are the players i dislike see exiting early... the others... meh

Gasquet more than anyone. Murray also, but he plays up to his seeding much more so than Richard does.
