playing 3 matches for club finals...

Hiya I'm supposed to be 3 matches at my club's autumn finals (2 doubles, 1 singles) this Sunday.
Haven't played more than 4 sets in 1 day since I was 25, I'm 35 now : ( .
Any tips for being able to last the day (apart from keeping points short), I'm not sure how my body will cope.

Really worried about injury and simply being too tired come my final match.

Thanks in advance.

Play the more difficult doubles match first. Play singles next, then play the easier dubs match last.

@jbot that's a good idea. I initially thought first 2 doubles as they are not physically as draining and then singles.
That said, just emailed tournament director and he said they traditionally do single first so I may not have much say in the matter.
Was thinking maybe to have heat/ice patches or something between matches to help with recovery (the well oiled elite athlete that i am...), no clue if that helps.

whow, how do you do it ? if I played 3 matches in a row, my knee would fall off

I think it will fall off...
I got a good news for you. buy this NBA sponsored knee strap and you will be able to play all 3 matches in one day. it gives you the support you need and make you perform better. NBA players like Nowitsky and Curry swear by it.

Or if you don't want to then you could put on some K-tapes around where you need support and it will give you great support as well.

I have done exactly what you are doing ... 2 dubs and 1 singles in a tournament in one day (3 days in a row). AND I am a gazillion years older than you, heat on the courts that day was right at 100F

Hydrate really well starting Friday.

Naturally get as good of a night's sleep Saturday night as possible.

I am a big believer in pre-dosing with ibuprofen .... but like I said, a gazillion years older .... but keeps inflammation down.

After 1st match, don't just walk off the court and sit down. That can lead to becoming stiff very quickly. Instead do your post match hydration while strolling the court area/complex including some good ROM stretching. Consider using a foam roller on quads and hamstrings especially as muscles are still warm.

Take some easy to digest protein ... a whey based protein shake will work ... this will help your muscles to recover as well as give you some fuel for the next matches

Don't get overloaded with liquids between matches or you will come out sluggish for the next match.

Same with food, have a light snack nothing too heavy that is easy to digest. This is not the time for manicotti in marinara sauce.

A lot depends on how much time you have between matches ....

Wanted to say thanks to @OnTheLine and @Nostradamus. Advice really helped! Hydration and banana's kept my energy pretty good throughout, probably had only one low energy point throughout day.
@Nostradamus didn't actually get round to ordering the knee support as I wanted. But I figured during the match to shake my knee when it felt it was locking (ligaments are fine, just occasional locks due to poor/weak muscles in quads) and was careful with my movement.

Won 2 out of 3 finals. thanks again fellas!

That is awesome!
Those are by far the best looking trophies I have ever seen for rec tennis tournaments.

Good job, enjoy the club bragging rights for at least a day or two.

What ?? of course C league is so much easier. I thought you were playing in the A league or division

Don't be Johnny hustle, unless your game is backboard. On days like that I won't run all out for to get a shot that I know will leave me in a terrible position, especially if I am up 40-0 or something. It's an art, but it will save you, especially in singles.

Dont chat in between points. Stay up. Roger is 138 years old and can still play a pro level 5 setter. You can play your but stay moving. Once that guy with the pot belly starts on the wife and kids. You're done.
