playing handball affecting tennis?

My friend introduced me to playing handball today, and I had a lot of fun with it. I was wondering if playing a lot of handball would affect my ability to play tennis in terms of strokes and such.

Does anyone else play handball and tennis and if so, how do they affect each other?

Handball? I played handball in here in the U.S. for about 10 years. Gave it up because I was having numbness and arthritic symptoms in my hands. Here, it's played in a racquetball type court with a small hard ball and players wear a thin leather glove. I've played what they call handball in Mexico where they hit a tennis ball against a wall and it's a team sport.

The way it's played here, I can't really recommend it, although I played and loved it for many years. It's just too hard on your hands. Think about it. You've got this hard object (the ball) striking your hand repetively at high speeds. The sport is not played much these days.

From what I have seen in Southern California, most Hispanics hit racqueball-type of balls with their barehands.

Like bee said, these will be very hard on your hands. Unless you grew up playing this sport, I doubt you will develop strengths in muscles, ligaments, sheaths, and bones fast enough to endure the pounding. This coupled with rigorous tennis is a recipe for disaster.

If I were you, I would stay away.
