Pleasantly surprised by Vapor VI Tour

So I was in a Nike Clearance Outlet Saturday and saw a pair of the light blue Vapor VI's for $59. I'm not a Nike fan primarily because Nike's usually fit too narrow in the tow box, but I tried them on and they fit OK. I have Kobe Bryant's shoes and I love the flywire. I was curious to see how flywire would perform on a tennis shoe.

I was shocked at how much room the Vapor VI's had in the toebox. I don't like the Flywire on the front of the shoe, it makes the shoe flex wierd. The shoe is stable and has arch support built into the Flywire (a nice touch).

I've played in them for 2 days and they're coming alive. I find them very supportive. I normally wear the Feather II's or Propulse II'. The Vapor's aren't as light as either but are light compared to the Barricades.

is it as light as advertised and tennis mag said it was ?

They are an extremely light, highly supportive shoe.

The best ankle support I've ever felt.

Anyone that rolls their ankles as often as me (yes that sounds silly) should try them.

Have you ever torn your ACL?

No thank God.

No major injuries, I just find my lateral movement causes ankle rolls at times on hardcourts.

In addition to this one time in Boston when I rolled my right ankle so hard walking to the hotel drunk up the stairs in Nathaniel Hall. It hurt so bad I was in tears like a 3 year old. Well I was drunk, so I guess its ok to weep miserably in pain.

I've torn my ACL, twice, I play in the Vapor VIs now, the light blue ones from a Nike outlet to be exact. I like them alright for the fall/winter months when lack of ventilation isn't that big of a deal in the south where I live. They take a few days to break in, and I add Sof Sole inserts because the factory insert is a joke. Biggest complaint is lack of durability in the tread though, the uppers with the flywire seem like they could last forever, but the tread wears out completely under my toes in a few months.

Yeah, I agree about the sole durability.

I've had my Oreos for 40+ days and have not played NEARLY as much as Summer and they're already wearing through.

$115 is overpriced.

Get them cheaper if this is your shoe.

I haven't seen the Tennis Mag review but they are light given how supportive they are. Would be nice if the front of the shoe was mesh or a leather/mesh combo.

Yeah, I agree about the sole durability.

I had a pair of V's that I bought too small and noticed they were wearing quick. I only had a few practice days and a set on them.

I plan on rotating the Vapors with Adidas Feather's and Propulse. The Vapor seems like an excellent indoor/fall/winter shoe. Seems like itcan be an oven in the heat.

Eh...take it back!!! I just stopped at Nike Outlet yesterday, the Sterling Blue Vapor is $39.99...

Which outlet did you go to? I used to live in DC. Was it one of the outlets with the shoes on the endcaps and stocked on the aisles? This store I was in didn't have that setup. It called a Clearance Center I in Lebanon, TN. It was weird it was chock full of stuff that was marked way down. They had the red Fed US Open shirts for $14.99. They had that Advantage shoe for $29.99.
