7 mains on each side.
Short side will be 7 mains plus a string going through the second cross pull tension, add extra 4 pounds. Tie off at 8B. (Tie off at 6th main at the top)* (this is a correction )

Long side will carry on weaving through the third cross all the way to the 17th cross
skip 18th cross
carry on weaving 19th cross
Complete 8th main. Upward motion
Complete first cross
Complete the other side 8th main downwards motion
Complete 18th cross. Additional 4 lbs. Tie off.

Will this exert more stress to the racquet?

(How are you going to slide through the strings over a nearly pin hole gap is out of discussion )

Tie off at 8B (8 bottom?) I'm pretty sure i understand what you're trying to do but those outside main weaves and the 18th cross will be difficult. I'd much prefer 4 knots.

??? You are losing me.

First... for consistent terminology... This is what I use.
  • Top - the side of the racquet facing the stringer/ceiling when mounted on the machine with the buttcap/logo up (for example a W on Wilson Racquets vs an M, p on a Prince vs a d)).
  • Bottom - the side of the racquet facing the floor when mounted on the machine with the buttcap/logo up.
  • Head - The loop portion of the racquet furthest away from the handle/grip.
  • Throat - The loop portion of the racquet closest to the handle/grip. I am assuming this is what you mean by 8B (or bottom).
On a Pure Drive, the outside or 8th mains end at the throat (every one I've seen including the 2015). So the 7th main ends up at the head so you cannot weave the 17th cross and tie off at the throat (or 8B as you refer to it).

Check this out...

6th main on the top. Correction.

Except for the tie off he said it all correct. After the 7th mains your loose ends are at the top. Use ss to string 2nd cross and tie off. Use the ls to string crosses 3-17 and 19th. Then use the ls tail to do the atw and tie off.

Sorry. Main number 6 at the top.

Ok... That makes more sense.

My preference for ATW pattern is to tieoff on the outside 2 crosses so any possible tension loss is the furthest away from the center of the string bed.

I use a variation of the DireDesire ATW pattern.

I weave the 1st cross (on the head) with the short side, pull tension and hold it with a starting clamp.

Then with the long side, I weave/pull/clamp the 3rd through 18 crosses, the long side 8th main, the 2nd Cross and the short side 8th main, and finally the 19th Cross.

Finally I tie off the last cross at the throat, pull tension again on the first cross at the head, remove the starting clamp, clamp and tie off.

To answer your original question, the frame should be fine but like Irvin, I prefer 2 piece/4 knot these days.

Where did you get your setting awl. I have one but cannot remember where I got it. Hope this is not against the rules. TW does not carry this particular one.

When your customer demanded an atw pattern, you do an atw stringing pattern. Hahahaha

If it's a simple matter of 2 knots, I'm not sure the method you suggested is the most efficient way to achieve that. That's why I said - seems like a lot of work.

But, by the looks of it, it would achieve 2 knots...and doesn't seem to me anymore dangerous than other atw patterns. If this pattern works for you, it works for you.
