I know, I know - this is supposed to be a safe haven for ALL gearheads. In other words, it's a place where you shouldn't have to justify why you partake of an innocent albeit perplexing (to me) interest in the equipment of one GREG RUSEDSKI. But, help me on this, why the recurring interest?
The racket I can almost understand. It's apparently derived from one of the classic frames of the last generation, the WPSC 6.1 MP (Greg's old frame), but with little tweaks to it that make it distinctly a Donnay (not regularly available in the US = more intriguing/appealling). Then, it's not even the Donnay it's supposed to be (poor, gullible Belgian tennis-playing populace - and you thought you had Greg's actual frame!). There are no PWS humps, and it's got the model name of Andre's old frame circa 1991. OK, so I can kind of get into it a little bit.
Now it's the clothes. Yes, there's been a call for Greg's clothes. Donnay, or is it Dunlop? Last I checked, Greg's plain-old clothes made Andrei Chesnokov's '85-'86 French Open beat-up Volkl outfits (distributed to all the Russian players of that era in plain oak tag sacks upon entering the Aeroflot cabin before all tournaments) look like Vitas's long-staple, left-hand-twist Maggia (the tangerine/blue/violet colorway). The clothes now they want!
Didn't this guy lose some heavy capital when he disrespected Sampras in '02 (incorrectly, it turned out a week later)? Shouldn't that chip away at the gear interest? Is he even in the top-whatever anymore?
Seems like a GOOD GUY, and I agree that his gear is just obscure/hard-to-get enough that it does merit some interest. He plays an elegant, long-limbed game. But why is he the only middling has-been to get this kind of treatment??
