POG Mid grommet alternatives?

I own a few POG 90s, one of which is in desperate need of a new grommet set. I have a few grommet sets for my Spectrum Comp 90s which would fit, but the black POG would look really funny with light grey grommets and bumper guard. I checked the auction site, but it seems like the POG 90/mid sets are going for a premium. Does anyone know if any other black Prince 90 grommet set would fit the POG? Maybe the Graphite Comp 90? I know most, if not all, the 14x18 Prince 90 frames from the mid 1980s shared the same drilling pattern, but I'm more or less concerned that it also shares the same beam width as the POG so the bumper isn't to wide or narrow.

Spray paint the grommets black and use them (spectrum).

The only issue I found with Prince 90s, of which I have had many, including 9 POG Mids (only 4 now) were the gray, blue/green, anything but black, were brittle in most cases. @JRW911 let me look through my grommet box and see what I might have. If I have one, some I'll just send them to you gratis. Heck, do you need a POG 90? I have two empty tennis shipping boxes here. When I play with a 93" these days I swing the Volkl Quantum Tour 10 Mid 93" 18x20 or the VE version. If you like the 93 narrow beamed sticks, you might want to consider trying them, but 14x18 vs 18x20 in a 93 is quite a change. I prefer to "pay it forward."

If you have a grommet set or two for a POG 90 you're willing to part with, I'd greatly appreciate it!

The one thing I've fallen in love with in regards to the POG and Spectrum Comp 90s are the open and spin friendly 14x18 patterns. I'm afraid going to an 18x20 in the same small head size would be too great of a change for me.

@JRW911 , The Prince Graphite Pro 90 is in my mind the king of Prince 90s, full stop. However I have not purchased one of these late model Prince 93s.

I've been wanting to try a Phantom 93 with the 14x18 pattern, but don't want to spend the $199 or whatever they cost these days especially since I can get a Spectrum Comp or another non-POG 90 from the auction site for $40 or less.

A Twistpower, huh? How do those hit?

Oh, almost forgot! I have two Thunderstick 90s coming in the mail tomorrow. Got them for a really good price, so I figured "Why not?".

@JRW911 , The Twistpower plays well, plenty of power but easy on the arm. Reminds me of an Ezone DR 98, but I gave my DR 98 away to a friend and won't be giving away the Twistpower X97 Tour. It's in my regular "rotation."

I too was looking for a set after buying some used POGs off the "e" auction site.
I am not a digger, so my rackets have stayed pretty good at the top and sides, but these used ones could have used an update.
What sellers are asking is kind of ridiculous, although I bet there are hundreds sitting in attics and garages somewhere! (or landfills)

Have you considered String Tubing? That was my alternative route.
I have owned many rackets, but none have ever needed a full grommet job.
Head guards? Yes
Grommets? No. Just where the tie offs are.

One of my two POGs has perfect grommets and bumper guard. The other one? Now, that's a different story. I had to use a BUNCH of tubing the last time I strung it. The plastic is so brittle they seem to disintegrate any time something touches them.

Consider using fittex grommet tubes 3.7-4.1mm where you need tie offs. RAB also sells blank bumper guards, but you have to drill your own holes, which are a PITA even with a drill press. Live with head protection tape.

It's not just the tie offs that are busted. It's literally 90% of the grommets. I've never owned a racket before with grommets this brittle.

I have some fittex grommets, but the thought of using 40+ individual grommets sounds like a nightmare.

That brings me back to my original question. Does anyone know for sure if another black Prince grommet set also fits the POG?

Maybe the Prince Phantom 93P 14x18.
However, the head guard will not fit as the Phantom is a tapered beam vs. constant beam.

Maybe reach out to a Prince Sales Rep or Prince Corporate.

Oddly, didn't Prince re-release the POG for sale on TW about 10 years ago? If so, you'd think the grommets have to be somewhere.

Also the Graphite Pro 90.

Negative on the Graphite Pro 90 grommets. The beam of the Pro 90 is 1mm thinner and the drill holes are smaller as well. You can put a Pro 90 grommet in the POG but it will be a little loose and not have the same protection.

For anyone with a Pro 90 - It is not possible to fit a POG grommet in.

I am sitting on two complete sets, 4 sets of additional side grommets, and 5 additional throat pieces. I've been holding onto them because I still have a POG 90 (that has some cracking grommets), and a Spectrum Comp 90 - but I'm considering cleaning out the closet.

The big seller of them out of Georgia seems to corner the market on them. When I heard that Prince was making the 107 and 100 grommets available again I quickly sold that guy all of mine for around $25 each. Then two months later I re-bought the couple sets I needed from TW for $8.

I just ordered some Spectrum Comp 90 grommets for my Graphite Pro 90. Will those grommets not fit the Graphite Pro?

You might have to enlarge the holes with a drill ever so slightly. The GPro seemed to be made to use 17g strings and smaller where the Spectrum and POG could use 15g strings.

YES! I have enlarged the holes to make POG grommets fit a GPro.

Do you remember if it was every grommet hole that you enlarged or just a few?
