It's been a great year - lots of gritty, hard-fought wins, and lots of sheer dominant brilliance. Hard to choose. It was great to see Fed in full flow at Wimbledon, Indian Wells, and Shanghai, and great to see his ability to pull out tough battles at the Australian Open and Miami.
Basel was great too - some beautiful god-mode tennis, culminating in an ugly but very satisfying, hard-won victory in the final.
I could easily say it was the AO or Wimbledon due to their significance, but I'll be a bit different and say my winner is Miami.
A tournament he has had limited success at (and had never won on the current court surface), which he pulled out back-to-back after already playing two weeks of prime-level tennis at Indian Wells.
A huge physical and mental achievement. Saved MPs in one match, then won an epic dogfight vs. one of the best attackers in tennis in the next, and then followed it up with a clean demolition of the best defender in tennis.
Now that was satisfying.
