Winner Sinner

Hall of Fame
It's not a poll about which player you think was the best, but which one you like the most.

Initial premise, I don't include Sinner in the survey (he would never have won anyway) so no one can say that I exploit the surveys with the aim of making Sinner stand out (lol) with hypothetical subliminal messages.

Having said this, I will include 16 players in the survey, a mix of active players with vintage ones.
There will be some names currently still active or more recent that may raise eyebrows, but I start from the assumption that the vast majority of forum users have not lived through all the various eras.
I know very well that it would be more democratic to include a Wilander rather than a Wawrinka, but almost everyone has experienced a Wawrinka while a Wilander has not.

The configuration is very simple and I will try to list it in these points;

- virtual board of 16 players.

- scoreboard in which the various intersections are assigned through virtual seedings 1-16 where the single seeding is assigned based on the total number of slams won, for example Djokovic being the player with the highest number of slams won will have the 1, and so on.
In the event of a tie in the slam calculation, precedence will be given to the older player.

- In each thread of this first round I will start two challenges at a time to spread the time.
Then from the quarter-finals onwards one challenge will emerge at a time every 24 hours.

- The survey for each challenge will last 24 hours.

- Obviously only one voting option per user, or as in this case where there are two challenges, two options.

These are the 16 chosen ones that I have identified (with seeding attached);

1 Djokovic
2 Nadal
3 Federer
4 Sampras
5 Borg
6 Laver
7 Connors
8 Lendl
9 Agassi
10 McEnroe
11 Edberg
12 Becker
13 Alcaraz
14 Wawrinka
15 Murray
16 del Potro

Scoreboard

First round

Upper part

(1) Djokovic vs (16) del Potro
(5) Borg vs (11) Edberg

(4) Sampras vs (13) Alcaraz
(7) Connors vs (10) McEnroe

Lower part

(6) Laver vs (9) Agassi
(3) Federer vs (14) Wawrinka

(8) Lendl vs (12) Becker
(2) Nadal vs (15) Murray

Today we start with the first two pairings of the upper part.

Borg vs edberg is a strange choice.
He was the original overall fav player.
Edberg came later and his gen players were Becker , lendl and wilander. And then agassi came

Roger Federer is the most popular player in this universe (past, present and future)
You need to go to multiverse to get someone who can beat him in popularity.
Ok, but we'll see if it is also in this forum.

Federer is the most popular player on the planet, but there are some parts of the world where he isn't.
Trivially it is certainly not in Spain, in Serbia or even in Italy (or rather it was, before the Sinner explosion).

Let's see if it will be here in this forum.
Voting is democratic, everyone has the same rights.
And in any case, don't underestimate some dynamics in polls like these where a group of fans of player x could vote for player y to go against player z.

For example, at the moment Del Potro is ahead of Djokovic (or at least he was until recently), are you really sure that those who are voting for Del Potro are doing so precisely because they like Del Potro more?
Obviously subterfuge-style dynamics are possible but since they cannot get into the minds of those who vote, they must be accepted.

I repeat, the people of the forum will give their verdict through an absolutely democratic poll.

Not at all with the young generation, 7 to 14. They all seem to be wearing Nole's shoes and can't tell who Roger is, hahaha

It's still early to issue sentences, but in this first round there could already be a surprise.

However, if two challengers end up with the same number of votes at the end of the poll, they both pass and in the next round there is a 3-way challenge (or 4-way if the other challengers also end up with the same vote), with obviously in the event of unequal votes, only one will pass.

I recommend voting to anyone who hasn't voted yet before the thread gets lost among the other more current threads.

There are approximately 12 hours left until the survey closes.

If Federer doesn’t win then there is clearly election interference.

Where are the UN election observers to watchdog this contest? (Cause the UN always makes sure that things are done honestly.)

Djoker is losing. If Djoker goes out in the first round, oh boy.

Smart move adding Alcaraz so you don't receive 20 "Former Pro Player" replies.

Even if there are still just under two hours to go, the configuration of the first quarter-final now seems to be done.

The very probable elimination of Djokovic is indeed a surprise but quite relative.
This survey, although confined within a forum where just under 60 voters expressed their opinions, is confirmation that you either love Djokovic or hate him, there is no middle ground.

In addition to all this, it must be said that he was faced with a Del Potro who has always aroused a lot of sympathy among various enthusiasts for his humble way of posing, not surprisingly renamed the gentle giant.
If anything, the real surprise consists in evaluating such an overwhelming difference.

As for Borg vs Edberg, here I think aura simply prevailed over elegance.

What a laughable poll and pairings :) Fed vs Wawa, seriously?
You could have at least made an effort to do the pairings of the players of somewhat similar styles and "stature". Like: Fed vs Sampras or Laver, Mac vs Becker or Edberg, etc.

I notice that you evidently read my introductory comment marginally.

I didn't do anything, or rather, apart from choosing the 16 candidates and matching the seeding based on the number of slams won, the rest was all left to chance, precisely to avoid there being artificially created pairings, ergo, just for the sake of seeing who wins between Tizio and Caio.

However, if you have a little patience, certain interesting combinations will automatically pop up in the next ones.
What is the point of reserving the best in the first round.

Having said that in the next survey we will already see some very interesting combinations due to the type of uncertainty they can guarantee.

Poll finished, here are the two winners who will form the first quarter-final of the upper part;

From now on we move directly to the next poll ( https://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/ind...lcaraz-13-and-7-connors-vs-mcenroe-10.781787/ )

Lol, they put Delpo up against Djoker... like the Olympics all over again.
Who's "they", Illuminati? :D

Just saw these ridiculous threads, lol at the OP putting random 16 players, and getting Del Potro, who is probably liked by every single tennis fan in the world, against Djokovic. I mean even I would vote for Del Potro. :-D

Also that being said, no Sinner on the list, because OP knows he'd lose even against Kyrgios in the "popularity contest" after this clostebol ignominy. :D

Djokovic actually has great potential to be likeable. He's witty, funny. Has a certain command about him. Most accomplished player of all time. His problem is his endless victim complex. He keeps talking with a huge chip on his shoulder. Thinks everyone's against him.

Got it, no manners is cool nowadays.

You do have a choice. Manners and stupid or no manners and brilliant. Pick your poison. And before you strike back with well how about both manners and brilliant, well in this case, if someone thinks the crowd was only booing out of lack of manners, then that is stupid, utterly.

To me, having manners is the highest form of self respect.

Self respect doesn't serve me, it is who I am. And regarding the AI world coming, it will not be my choice!

Ok then, so you are who you are based on the biases you experienced in your life. In another setting you would be an entirely different person, perhaps even ill-mannered. i.e. there is nothing inherently good or bad, stop being sanctimonious about your good manners BS.
