already done this thread once back in 2017 after Nadal won la decima. feel free to check it out here: tt.tennis-warehouse.com/index.php?threads/how-many-more-rg-titles-do-you-predict-rafa-will-win.595669

fast forward three and a half years, he's sitting at 13 titles, more than the vast majority of people predicted he would add to his tally in said thread.

so, time to make another one of these. how many more for the Nadal?

At most 2 more, but I will not be surprised if he already won his last slam. I really don't like his mental strength recently. Looks like he is really getting old now. He can't deal with the young players anymore. (while just a year ago he was dealing with them much better than Federer and Djokovic)

I think Wimbly even better chance. Next gen catching up on fast court.

Nadal in 2018 proved he can hang with anyone on that surface. W 2019 was a letdown because he couldn't return or hit with depth.

But Id like to think Ned can do better.
Another interesting possibility he wins the Aus and becomes the only one of the big3 to have each slam more than once.

Would be good if he did do well at Wimby next year as I would be in with a shout of getting tickets.

I'm going to say 1. I think he wants to retire to the yacht and leave when he knows that he's still on top. I think he's going to time it to perfection and not sour the legacy by going on too long.

One AO title in 16 years on tour doesn't bode well for Rafa ever winning there again. That ship has probably sailed, just as Fed never won the USO again after 2008.
I agree it's unlikely but he got close in 2017 and it would be a marvel if he could.

Rafa also was serving for the match in the semis at the Tour finals on Saturday. He may go all the way in Turin.

Its going to get easier as Thiem slows down.
And Nadal already served out 2 breadsticks in their 2019 RG final....
So who else will step up to the plate? Djokovic is doomed, Thiem is getting older.....I don't see anyone coming for Nadal's blood.
And Medvedev almost lost 63 64 to Nadal on indoor hardcourt (if Nadal served out the match).
And Tsitsipas can't beat Nadal on hardcourt....

I would say between 0-1 RG more. He is getting older and started to wear out in longer matches.
For a great champion such as Nadal, it would not be apt to hang around on clay and get beaten. Once he loses a 5 set slam match in RG, I think he will retire soon after.

Nadal's legend at RG will live on for eternity. It seems a statistic right now because Nadal makes it look easy.
But once he retires, we will look back at awe on his tremendous achievement. Youngsters in the next few years (and even decades) will try, but will NEVER come close to matching what Nadal has accomplished.
There will be one record in Tennis that will live on forever. There is a king of clay - and then there is a God of clay - Nadal has transcended to the later..

How many years before Nadal plays the long match at Roland Garros?
He's dropped a total of 3 sets in the last 4 French Opens, and no 5-setters.
Nadal getting older doesn't change anything.
Whereas Thiem getting older will change things, and make it even easier for Nadal.

Djokofan, posters like you have dreamt of Rafa's retirement since at least 2005.

I think at least 6 more. But not in succession. He'll win the next 3, lose 1 due to injury, then win another 3.
Retires with 26 Slams.

2.
One next year because Nole will be focused on Wimbledon and Thiem is no good in finals and everyone else is just meh on Clay.
One in 2022 because he'll be retiring that year and will want to go out on top.

I don't want to put any limit because ı just dont like. Every year he is getting older and his movement getting worse despite his extraordinary achievements still winning the tournament with only losing few sets for 3-4 years. So ıdk maybe he won't win ı hope and believe he will win few more ı hope 3 or more but 2 is maybe realistic. I think thiem has a power he can do it if rafa's performance drops but other than him atleast this year ı dont see anyone maybe novak if rafa plays worse and he plays better.

1 more , 5 more, I don't know, no. All I can say is that it is unlimited budget and an emotional situation. Best of luck to Andy.

Word is the French won't allow Fed's 20 slams record to be broken on their home soil.

Marksmen with rifles will wait for Rafa should he enter the main draw next year.

It's ombeleebel that an injured person who happens to play tennis is so much better than all the uninjured persons who happen to play tennis on this particular, and natural, surface, which is for real men only.

Soon Rafa can do what he likes the most; fish from his humble boat.

2 more, tops.

IIIII do not think...that winning the Rrrroland Garrrrros is impossibel. For sure it's the true that if you gonna play the good tennis, then anything is possibel on this suffrace, no?
