UnderratedSlam

G.O.A.T.
Here in Serbia there is almost no tennis event that isn't covered on regular cable which nearly everyone has. All the slams, WTF, all the M1000s, all the 500 events and many or most 250 events.

Yet somehow there is literally no trace of quasi-Davis Cup on TV. So far.

Do you get quasi-Davis Cup in your country of residence/origin, and if so, is it available on "regular"/readily-available (sports) channels or do you have to have a 5000-channel satellite package in order to find a channel that's playing it?

5000 channel package, but they organize the channels for you. I'll look in usa national sports, Can sports and Uk sports. Eventually find it.

You can also google the event, see who has it then find it if having problems.

I'd rather have this poll...

... if anyone bothers to vote.

Where's the vote for Canada? Seriously, we're a contender and you didn't even include us in your poll.

Also, yes, the whatever-it's-called-cup is on regular cable here in Canada, you know, the apparently non-existing part of North American that put the North in America.

TTW allows only 10 poll options, if I'm not mistaken, otherwise Africa, Canada and the Antarctic would have been included.

And judging by the responses of some posters, even Mars. And Neptune.

We Europeans tend to regard Canada as a big fat brother of the U.S.

Maybe it's because most exhibition events aren't readily televised...

Dude, have you seen the players that are there? Every country that made it fielded their strongest possible team from what I can see. Also, I just watched Canada v. Italy and no one (well, except maybe Fognini because who the hell know what that guy thinks) is taking this lightly.

Yes, but you weren't talking about this edition only. You already admitted that you haven't seen a single match from it.

There IS only one edition of quasi-Davis Cup... And according to you it's over and Serbia won it. Hooray.

Or is the word "quasi" causing the loss in translation issues here?

Google "quasi".

You could always try to stick to the thread...

Or stray from the subject AFTER you've answered the question.

Of course, that is up to you...

The post above yours indicates that you don't know what you are talking about, and I decided beforehand to give you the benefit of the doubt, if you can make something out of it. It turns out, you rule that option out. Congratulations on another "victory".

In reference to your spoiler. I grew up in Europe, including in Austria (where I had plenty of Serbian friends), and only the very ignorant tended to believe that..... Just saying. I mean really, you expect me to believe that people equate the American President with Canada in this day and age?? We must have run in different circles.

Why... thanks.

Since I know you never use sarcasm (at least not successfully) I will take this as yet another check-mate moment, in my favour...

I shall now respectfully bow...

I spent 11 years in Austria, hence fail to understand why you took my comment so 100% literally.

It's a little baffling. Austrians DO have a sense of humour and CAN detect jokes, bad as they may be.

Perhaps we didn't spend time in the same Austria? Mine was called Australia or st like that... Dunno, tend to confuse them...

Because I'm a Canadian and therefore have an inferiority complex. Is that so hard to understand :)

In the UK it's available on Eurosport either through SKY Sport, Prime Video or Eurosport iplayer.
I have two Eurosports, neither is showing it.

When they cover other tennis events, usually both those are used.

Apparently, quasi-DC isn't relevant enough for them to show it... They'd rather stick with snooker and curling (yes, that's a sport, Google it and laugh), but I can understand them i.e. why they'd prefer snooker and curling...

It's on Channel 410 on Sky. If you have Amazon Prime it's on Eurosport there:

And I am telling you that neither Eurosport 1 nor Eurosport 2 are/were showing ANY quasi-DC.

What you just showed me does not apply to the Balkans, at the very least, and who knows where else. I.e. Eurosport has nothing to do with quasi-DC.

But I guess that's why I opened this thread.

Sky isn't Eurosport. Sky is probably much better than Eurosport...

I assumed you were in the UK. Eurosport is broadcast through SKY in the UK.

Sorry for trying to help.
Correcting you does not mean you are not helping.

If we don't correct each other out of politeness then we shall have a bunch of elephants in the room.

And there is too little space on these threads for a bunch of elephants. As much as we all like them...

Next time read the opening post not just the title...

Especially when it's my post and thread...

So far 4 out of 15 people polled said they can't watch QDC on TV.

Considering that (nearly) all of us have slams and M1000s on TV, that's a very clear statement from the tour organizers what they think of QDC.

It depends on a country:

Don't take it out on me if you can't watch DC. If you are only interested in the Balkans you shouldn't have set up a poll. I didn't read your post #1 because I have more important things to do.

My dear, I've tried plain English, but it didn't work. Please tell me which language I should try next.

Let me try again...

I am not angry with you. I was merely pointing out that you didn't read the opening post. Instead of admitting that you should have, or saying "oops", or not responding at all, you got angry at me for pointing it out, which is fairly bizarre. I always first read the opening post before I reply, especially if it's fairly short like this one.

Nor did I say I was interested in following QDC. I am merely surprised that it's nowhere on TV, considering that my cable is normally inundated with sports events, especially tennis and football. I can very easily live without QDC. I was merely trying to find out if this absence of QDC is unique to my region or if it's more widespread i.e. whether they're treating QDC as some kind of elitist exo event...

Your continuing use of the word "quasi" despite of being shown that the reality is the opposite shows that your only purpose here is to denigrate it. Repeating that it is "an elitist ego" shown me that my guess about your intentions was also right and has nothing to do with any "interest" on your part (you actually admit to that, so no need to guess anymore).

In your opening post you also said that you are interested what the others get in their own country, and now, when you have been given that information you had a knee jerk that it isn't like that in your region (in truth, even if clayqueen didn't read the OP, she gave you the info you were asking for in it for her own country, which is the UK. It is you who then started whining about that not being the case in your own country).

So, now you got your answer, which is, the TV rights have been spread between different providers and are not sold as a package to one big broadcasting channel. It looks like DC remains relevant, even if the new ATP event is trying to replace it.

Hey, you came directly from that other thread (Lendl 27/33 thread) where you were ranting and raving without arguments for an hour, directly to this thread, just to rant and rave against me... yet again?

Who are you kidding. You are not interested in clayqueen or any other user, this is personal to you. I'd suggest you try to argue with reason and logic, as opposed to anger and emotions. I am not your enemy. I am your friend.

Otherwise you are liable to find yourself ranting against me on every thread, even on posts of mine that you agree with.

And no, QDC isn't DC. You can't simply do a complete overhaul of a 100-year event, completely change it, give it just one location instead of 50, change the elimination system, change everything, and then PRETEND it's the same event by naming it Davis Cup.

If we moved the FO to Sri Lanka, and changed the surface, and had it played in 5 days at bestof3 would it still be FO? No. A slam? No. A name doesn't define an event. Otherwise any playground football event could be the World Cup simply because some kids chose to call it that way...

But I guess media hype that ATP works on tirelessly does seem to work on some people... If they told you the ball was triangular, would you believe that too?
