Now this is the one I'm looking forward to and will watch, unlike the other semis this one will feature some big hitting and a 1 handed backhand. Hopefully Stan can pull this one out. He needs some momentum for the rest of the clay season.

I agree this will be a good match. I'm not sure who I want to win though. I like both, but I'm leaning towards stan. I think djokovic will win it in three though.

Don't want to be whiny, but there is already a poll thread for this match.

Also that last option is not nice and ruins the poll.

a toss-up to me really. haven't checked h2h, but i saw 3-set rome final . . . good for the game

other semi has potential too, though rafa looks strong.

anyone know if murray will pass djokovic if they both lose semis? didn't djokovic make semis here last year and retired against federer?

I think Djokovic will pull this out in two tighter sets. Wawrinka is playing well though and clay is his best surface so who knows.

I fancy this to go to Djokovic in 3, I'd say 2 but he's been prone to a couple of lapses this week and Stan is playing well.

Should be a good 'un

They are 5-2 Djokovic H2H but 1-1 on clay. So Wawrinka is bound to take one set. Djokovic in 3. He seems to be returning to his regular form.

Nope. Djokovic will continue to be 170 points ahead. However, if no points are gained next week, then on the 28th Murray becomes #3. Thats because Djokovic will lose 450 points from last year's MC and Murray only 150. So Djokovic needs to beat Wawrinka to stay #3.

I wish the poll would tell us which person voted for which outcome would make this a whole lot more interesting. Djoko in 2 btw :D hes playing better now since moving to clay

Another proof that this is a troll hater poll and that the other poll thread which is respective proper and first opened should be used.

Its called a joke, man. It's not like Djokovic doesn't have a history of retiring. And I put that option in the other poll too.

It is a bad joke. Also there was already a thread with the poll for this match and there was no need for you to open another one only to add silly option and make a bad joke.

It may be a bad joke for you, but last time I checked, Djokovic has retired at 3 out of the 4 slams. It's kind of hard not to take a crack at his past history.

They were all legitimate retirements.

Legitimate as in he was not in good enough conditioning. There were maybe 2-3 that were legitimate; Wimbledon and the FO against Nadal, where he was having breathing problems (I think this was pre-surgery). The rest were fairly bad ones; usually caused by lack of conditioning, or some sort of other lame excuse.

If djoko says he was having problems with something i believe him after all he is a professional, why would he tell a lie :( thats just un sportsmanlike? if he says so then so be it don't see a reason why he would lie to his fans :(

Good looking matchup. I'm glad to see some different matchups than those we have seen in recent years. I think Stan will be the man in 3 in this one.

One thing i have noticed is that Djokovic looks much more relaxed in the climate in Monte Carlo and this could be a plus in his match today

And where exactly did you check to get those interesting facts?

According to ATP:

AO 2009 Retired in Q
USO 2008 Lost to Federer in S
Wimby 2008 Lost to Safin in R64
FO 2008 Lost to Nadal in S

Care to correct your "findings"?

Well thats how this poll was set up. It should have been set up so you see who voted for what. And that is done by pushing a little tab that allows "all to see" when the thread is set up. Its just laziness, if this isn't done when setting up a thread.

He has a serious congenital malfuction which causes him to lose breath when its very hot, like it was at IW, and hot combined with high humidity, as was the case in Miami.

I don't have this kind of a problem but sure did not feel comfortable playing in Hawaii or Acapulco after 10am. In Acapulco, we would play at 7am or at airconditioned courts during the day, and then again outdoors after 9 pm.

He retired at the French in 07 or 06
Wimbledon in 07
Australian this yr.

And as far as the poll is concerned, I didn't know there was one already. I was just posting to preview the 2 semis at the conclusion of the Murray match.

Djokovic didn't retire in FO 2007. Nadal won SF 7-5 6-4 6-2.

Check your facts.

You should also check if there is a match thread already before opening a new one. It is a mess now.

Also you just confirmed that your real intention behind starting this thread was to put the retirement option in the poll

I'm not sure why everyone is making a big deal out of it, im sure if Djoko retired he must've had a legitimate reason :)

No, no, no. The guy said Djokovic retired 3 times in the last 4 slams. So I was just correcting him. But you are right 07 was a bad year for him. 08 was great. 09 is not that good so far, but the year is just getting started.

Why can't people accept such highs and lows in form when it comes to Federer :)

This will be an interesting match nonetheless...will give a lot of confidence for the rest of the clay season to the winner
