Whether she's wrecking the field or not doesn't matter, it just doesn't look right.
it does matter. if she is losing fairly often and playing close matches, she is at the right level. There are lots of young teaching pros at 4.5 and 5.0 levels.

Young teaching pros?

Do you even know who Gigi Fernandez is?

i also think there are USTA computer rated 5.0 players that could beat McEnroe.

Noah Rubin was beating Mac when before he started hacking it out on the futures circuit and there are computer rated 5.0s currently at ranked D1 schools or with current ATP points so probably. Small sample size I know but it's what I got.

Doesn't matter. Rec tennis is for rec tennis players. 53 or not leave it alone. Someone with grand slam titles should not be playing usta leagues.

What are they supposed to do if they just like playing? Hit with their friends?

Nobody wants to see a fat 50+ player get humiliated by someone who can still play. I think Lendl found that out the hard way. Let her play against 4.5s I say.

Kind of off topic...but at the time Stefan Hudet was the #1 men’s wheelchair player in the world..he was playing in a tourney in Baton Rouge..he is an amputee and he wore his prosthetic (meaning he played able-bodied)...his opponnent was a solid Southern 4.5 on clay...and took him out 1,1.
According to the USTA guidelines:

"The very best world-class players in wheelchairs have an NTRP rating in the low 4.5s."

That seems pretty accurate. I've played against a former olympian wheelchair tennis player in doubles and I felt he could probably hold his own against 4.0 and weaker 4.5 players. He had a little bit of trouble with my kick serve and drop shots (even after the 2 bounces) but otherwise hit a solid ball and movement was unreal.
