Oh, you have no idea. Back in the day, there were a lot of rumours about Wawrinka abusing his companion. He was not sued so it remained under wraps. The one who has 3 slams and doesn't beat women
This is true but when the gap in slams is this big it doesn't matter. The slams are the most important tournaments but not the only thing that matters, otherwise let them only play in those 4 tournaments and rest the rest of the year.
This again proves how important slams are. Whatever zverev achieves, he will forever be underachiever until he wins that slam.Best ranking

Djokovic Wawrinka h2h is 21-6This again proves how important slams are. Whatever zverev achieves, he will forever be underachiever until he wins that slam.
Why?
Because you dont win slams by accident. You can win a best of 3 set masters where big players have either skipped or are not in form. No such leniency in slams. Everyone will show up. And in course of 5 sets, the stronger player will eventually take the win.
Wawrinka not only won 3 slams, he won it beating djoker at the time where no one else could
This numbers Doesn't mean much.Djokovic Wawrinka h2h is 21-6
Djokovic Zverev h2h is 8-4
Wawrinka Zverev h2h is 0-5
That's a matchup. A statistically & qualitatively better tennis player can have a negative H2H because the opponent's game doesn't suit him.I love Stan but let’s be serious, not even once did he manage to beat Zverev and they played against each other 5 times, going back to 2016 when Stan was in his prime and Zverev was still in his teens.
He already had great showings starting at the AO13 at least. What’s weird about Stan is that all of his big wins happened in a 2 2/3 year span.
From December 30, 2013 through the 2016 USO, Stan won all 3 of his majors and his lone Masters. Better yet, he went 11-0 in all finals during this time frame, which includes 4-0 vs the Big 3.
Outside of this time frame, he went 5-15 in finals.
Stan’s entire list of big accomplishments happened in a minuscule 2 2/3 year span.
I understand matchups but 5-0 is a bit extreme in my opinion. Stan should have at least managed to beat Zverev once in my opinion. That's a matchup. A statistically & qualitatively better tennis player can have a negative H2H because the opponent's game doesn't suit him.
Just like Djokovic wawrinka is a matchup. No one on ttw is fooled that the best win in all of Stan's matches was vs Djokovic. He could beat the other guys (Nadal did get injured in set 2) but it was on Djokovic to stop stan. He failed due to his own limits. That's a matchup. A statistically & qualitatively better tennis player can have a negative H2H because the opponent's game doesn't suit him.
Lol that guy who didn't win a slam R16 until age 26.Had Wawrinka found the right coach for him like Norman waw we would talk about him as the 4th Big 4.
His ceiling was much higher than Zverev's and he was on another planet mentally.
Wawrinka's prime lasted about 4 years as he was a late bloomer.Lol that guy who didn't win a slam R16 until age 26.
Don't be THIS ridiculous.
He found many right coaches. The guys mentality is definitely a question. I would not overrate this stuff at all. He had good matchup vs Nole due to 1 handed slice plus insanely heavy backhandWawrinka's prime lasted about 4 years as he was a late bloomer.
Imagine if he found the right coach for him earlier. This debate wouldn't even exist.
I never thought of that... you're right he probably does have a matchup advantage against Nole. I wonder if he could still beat Nole today. He found many right coaches. Probably now it's too late.I never thought of that... you're right he probably does have a matchup advantage against Nole. I wonder if he could still beat Nole today.
