Here too it is right to specify that we must take into consideration the 37-year-old Djokovic and not the Djokovic in absolute terms. Obviously the Serbian always remains a credible candidate, however I think that even in this specific fundamental Sinneraz has something more than the rest of the circuit. Although the percentages of games won on return obviously cannot certify who has the best return, in the same way as the one who has the best percentage of games won on serve, it does not certify that he has the best serve (and in fact Sinner is not the best server of the current circuit), however it can serve to better understand the substantial differences between the 2. Alcaraz wins a percentage of return games that is significantly higher than that of Sinner, but if the comparison is limited to hard surfaces the Italian has a percentage of games won in response slightly higher than Spanish. So I think that on faster surfaces and where essentially the quality of a return is more decisive Sinner is superior, in general his response is more solid while that of Alcaraz, although more unstable, can be more aggressive.

Just curious, do you suddenly wake up and have nothing to do or a job? Why the endless threads of nonsense content?
Why should someone who opens several threads in your opinion be a do-nothing?
Think what could be said instead of people who use the space of a forum only for the purpose of gratuitous provocation.

But above all meaningless content based on what?
The only reason why this thread hasn't involved anyone is due to the fact that many tennis fans, instead of moving forward, remain anchored to the past, it is enough to see that the same question addressed to the interpreters of the past has found so much involvement in the discussion. And in my opinion when Djokovic retires it will be even worse. Instead, once a pope dies, a new one should be created.
Having said that, enlighten us from above with your infinite wisdom to make available for thke good of ttw.

It's Sinner by a large margin. Otherwise the OP wouldn't have started this thread. Alcaraz is a great returner also, can be quite spectacular with return winners. But Sinner is much more consistent. Sinner right now is a better server and returner than Alcaraz, and his shot tolerance from the baseline is better. Alcaraz is far superior to Sinner at the net and on any other category, because he is a brilliant all court player.

I have also opened many polls in the past where Sinner wasn't even mentioned, so what makes you think that I opened this one on purpose to bring out Sinner?

Cause you have opened atleast 2-3 threads in the span of 2 hours or so, I would have thought you would make useful time during those hours doing something more productive. I definitely could have worded it a little better but I can say for one I don't use this forum only for the purpose of gratuitous provocation even if you think it was.

It’s based on how many similar thread that’s been created. You are fairly new on here but we tend to get the same ole thread every other day. Wouldn’t you be sick and tired seeing it? I don’t think it’s cause many tennis fans are archored in the past, it’s merely cause it’s not intriguing enough to make any discussion.

Because Sinner is the best returner right now and your username is in some way related to Sinner.
So when I opened those up about who was the best returner in history or the most athletic player ever in history what was the purpose?
Having suddenly become a fan of Djokovic or Nadal?
I didn't understand the meaning of your comment. Furthermore, as you say, Sinner may also be the best returner on the current circuit but it doesn't seem to me that he received unanimous approval, and I didn't even think he could receive it (just read my preview comment). Prejudices are a bad thing.

You got the point, it's the way you put your comment that seems provocative, then everyone is free to express their legitimate opinion, it would simply be enough to avoid making it personal. We talk about tennis, but evidently some think it's a matter of life and death for all that acrimony to emerge.

And in any case, no, I'm sorry, if I had only opened this thread it would have received the same little interest precisely because the past evidently attracts more than the present. This is demonstrated by the number of threads or discussions that are generated in the forum, and the vast majority have to do with issues of the past. The problem is that users like you then come to pick on me while they ignore those who legitimately refer to the era of the big three everywhere even when in theory the topic of discussion would be completely different. Speaking of consistency in criticism...

It's a sin not to vote for Sinner.

Raz possesses a relatively "subpar" return game as compared to other ATGs (he couldn't even break 37 years old Novak's serve on clay, where it is easier to return, in the entire Olympics final). Carlitos still has time to develop a more consistent and reliable return game.

Sinner’s pretty solid on hardcourt when the bounce is true.

Carlos is better when the surface is rough with less predictable bounces.

Neither are as good all-around as 2011-2016 Djokovic or 2008-2016 Murray.
