Poly in a Max 200G?

I've giving new life to some older racquets I have lying around and was thinking... given the softness of the Max 200G = no arm pain, would a poly string bed stiffen this racquet up and give it more zip?

I have strung mine at 55pounds with luxilon big banger ace 18. it felt great and has very nice spin!

That's great!
I just finished stringing min with Snakebite 17g (50lbs) on mains and Forten Sweet 17g (55lbs) on crosses.
Definitely not as tight a stringbed as I'm used to, but we'll see tomorrow.

If you lower the tension and it won’t hold the tension well. So I would say 50 to 55 Linda are good.

It’s not the 200G, but I put poly in everything I play with, including the Pro Staff Mid St. Vincent, Yonex R-50 and Prestige Mid. I also use it on the modern mids like the IG Prestige Mid, Power Bridge 10 and the 93P. I string them around 46 to 50 lbs. Feels great with even more added control. The classic frames are beefy, so any good contact will create massively heavy balls.

It might depend on how hard you hit the ball, but I wouldn’t put polys in my 200g’s as they are prone to spooning towards the hoop. I only string mine with soft strings (full bed gut or gut/synthetic) and never above 45 lbs.

45pounds won’t hold the tension well as it will fray. 50 to 55 pounds is better.

i want to put poly in my PS85, but i doubt that would ruin the feel. Does the PS85 with poly feel harsh when you play?

To me, it doesn’t feel harsh at all. I think thinner gage poly (*17 or 18) strung around 45 to 50 lbs is actually perfect for the mids. There is something about having that extra control and spin that makes me play even more with comfidence.

That sounds quite good. i’ve just got several thin ploys (1.10mm), i’ ll have a try:)
