I've heard so many great things about having a Gut main and a Poly cross, I mean even Fed uses it, but what about a Poly Main and a Gut Cross? How does that work?

dont take me wrong I am the biggest fed fan, just pointing out that Andy uses Poly main and gut crosses.Half the tour also didnt play in the last half of the year. So, yeah, go poly main/gut crosses.

I'm not sure if that set up is logical because natural gut might not allow for enough snapback from the poly mains. I'm sure one of our esteemed TT members can elaborate.
In this 2015 interview, Nishikori explained why he uses Lux 4G (1.25) mains and natural gut crosses.I've heard so many great things about having a Gut main and a Poly cross, I mean even Fed uses it, but what about a Poly Main and a Gut Cross? How does that work?

I've just recently went to poly mains and SynGut crosses with the crosses strung > then mains. I'm looking for a bit more comfort and pocketing compared to a full bed of poly.
I finally got to hit today with Revolve 17 mains and Gosen Micro Sheep crosses. Mains were 52 and crosses were 57. It definitely added more crispness and power. The only bad thing was that I lost a good bit of spin. I think I'm going to swap the Revolve out for Cyclone Tour and see if I can get more bite.

I hope you asked for a refundDropped two frames down to my stringer and asked for vs team mains/Rslyon crosses. He messed the whole thing other way around and now I have 2 fames with poly mains/gut crosses. Will hit today and see how it feels/plays.

Isn't Micro Sheep a cheapo syngut? I think you're going to be disappointed with that string no matter what you do with it.

It is inexpensive but I think it's a great value for a SynGut. Any other particular brand that's better? I've only used Prince, Wilson, and Gamma before. They all play pretty equal.
I would try a multi like Vanquish before syngut. Babolat Origin is very nice, but it aint cheap. It is inexpensive but I think it's a great value for a SynGut. Any other particular brand that's better? I've only used Prince, Wilson, and Gamma before. They all play pretty equal.

@Holliman said he was switching from a full poly to find more comfort and ball pocketing. I think any decent multi does a way better job than any syngut will for that task. Why multi? If you are used to syn gut and the touch and finesse of syn gut then having a hybrid with co poly and syn gut makes sense
