poly string stiffness vs. stringbed stiffness?

Does stringing a full poly job (Enduro Pro 17 or Spinfire 17) at a low tension (50lbs in a LM Instinct) alleviate some of the string stiffness characteristics of polys through making the stringbed less stiff with the low tension? I am trying to maximize ball-pocket while minimizing the harsh effects of the poly string on my arm. Thanks for any advice offered.
