poly strings

i started using poly/syn gut hybrid for a while now because i break syn gut in like 2 hours. i've tried rab monoflex, gosen polyion, wilson enduro, ashaway monogut, and bb alu (for 1 minute on my friend's racket). i liked all of them....for the first 5 minutes (luxilon doesn't count cuz i'm not willing to spend so much money on strings). the best out of all the strings i listed (besides lux) is ashaway monogut but i break that in 15 hours. and i always break them in the center so it's not due to mishits.

so i just want your help finding a cheap poly that holds tension reasonably well and has better than average durability. i'm thinking about lux super poly, ballistic polymono, tf polyspin, and polygut

15 hours on a poly when you get 2 hours on syn gut sounds reasonable. I am not sure you will find much better durability in a polyester without compromising either price or playability. After that much playing (I am assuming pretty hard hitting to snap syn gut in 2 hours), your strings will pretty much go dead and need to be restrung anyway. If you want heavy duty durability, you may want to move up to kevlar, though I don't typically suggest that. I wouldn't really complain about only getting 15 hours out of a string. However, I had good results with polymono and did not like polygut.

well i don't have a stringer so i have to go to my club and pay 12 bucks to get it restrung. and i play everyday and i really don't wanna pay 12 bucks once every week.

You can pick up a cheap drop weight machine for $100 and never pay for another stringjob again. In 6 months (if you string almost every week), the machine will pay for itself and it is all savings from there. You can't go wrong when you string your own rackets.

yes i'm trying to save up some money to buy a good drop weight or even a crank so i don't have to pay but in the meanwhile, i have to find a string i really like.

tennsdog..does polymono have good tension maintenance/durability?

Polys are notorious for their inability to hold tension. Prestretching helps a little, but its the nature of the beast.

Well, monogut is $4. As David says, polys all lose tension quickly so why not go with the best of the lot (as you said) and then wait for your stringer. Of course I'm not sure what stringer you want but a good gamma stringer is still only $135.

sure i like monogut but i hate breaking them so often. i was just wondering if any one tried any average performance polys with durability and economical

personally...i like polylon ice 17. although it's the only poly string ive tried, it feels good on my mains. It's not too soft or too stiff and once it softens up, it feels great...at least better than all synthetic (i use cheap syn)
