1. when i take the racquet out of the stringing machine i use to place it on the floor (carpet preferably) and step about 30-40 times with my foot on the stringbed. this basically will induce a tension loss "artificially", and when i get on the court, i'll have less if any tension loss while playing. this thing worked and works for me for over 30 years now and i have done it with natty gut, multis and polys.
after this treatment, i have come to know three strings so far which do not lose anymore tension (not noticeable) and don't go dead within my time frame, which is about 8 hitting hours - these are mantis power polyester, kirschbaum competition and luxilon adrenaline. the advantage of this "special treatment" is that when a string finally breaks, i just go and get the next racquet out of my bag and basically go on from where i left, because the tension difference between the one that just broke and the fresh one is hardly noticeable (there is a small difference, but i'd say that i hit the balls about 10cm shorter with the fresh strings, so there's nothing really to be talking about).
the strings i've mentioned have been used as mains. for crosses i've used with good results mantis comfort polyester, mantis power polyester and isospeed professional - all not going dead or losing tension within my timeframe.
