Poly with extreme feel

I'm currently using WeissCannon Scorpion 1.22 and really like the string, but I realized I need a poly( not fan of full multi or full syn gut stringjobs ) with extreme feel. WC Scorpion 1.22 performs really well, power, control, spin, tension stability, but lacks some feel, IMO.

I've used PLII 1.15 and for me, it has the best feel over all polys I've tried. But the tension stability was something that really frustrated me about this string. Since I used this string on a 18x20 string pattern racquet( 4D300Tour ), I'll try that again on my 4D100s( 16x19 ) to check if the string breaks before getting too loose. If it does, then it will be a no brainer, since I won't have problems going to a fresh stringjob after breaking the old one( using the 4D300Tour, I had problems doing this since the old stringjob was much looser than the new one ).

I've also used for a very short time Hyperion 1.18, and although it has a better feel than WC Scorpion, it seemed that it wasn't able to perform as well as WCS. I'll also try this string again to have a real opinion about this string.

I'll also try some co-poly hybrids stringjobs( Scorpion x Turbo Twist, Scorpion x Hyperion ) to check if I can improve the feel, but if someone has some suggestions, I'll gladly take them in order to find a good stringjob for me.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT :for me, the thinner the better. I don't mind about durability, since I'd rather the string to break before dying. I also hate cutting stringjobs.

Bad Call, yes, I did try BAM. I thought it was pretty close to PLII 1.15, but a little softer and with a little worse tension stability. Those differences were minimal though.

I much preferred the feel of PLII 1.15 though

Some like the var. lux: alu, alu spin, adrenaline, fluoro. I don't get feel from poly. Rpm felt mushy and did not like the acoustics of it. You don't see the uber hitters volleying well. Try ace 18g for the best feeling poly that breaks fast. Some like the poor mans' ace 18g: prince syn gut, soft, crisp feel/sound, short lasting string, with worse ten. loss than ace.

I don't try luxilon strings because I'm to afraid of liking them and going bankrupt:lol:

About Big Ace, I've used it for some time last year and thought it was too stiff for me.

thanks!

got some Lux BB Ace 18 that i've yet to try. thin gauge SpinX is another one high in the "feel" sense. not as good as BAM in that regard for this player.

Well in that case try MSV Hex in 1.10.

Good power spin and control. Feel not so sure but feel is not synonomous with poly's really. Works for serve and volley for me.

Just to make things clear, I'm looking for a poly with 'extreme feel' for a poly standard. I know I'll get much more feel from a gut stringjob, but that's not what I'm looking for. I love polys, I just want to get the best feel out of them.

I also tried MSV Hex 1.10, but it felt very stiff for me. Not sure why, but I don't really like twisted strings.

did u ever try a poly/syn gut hybrid? i'd try a very very soft syn gut like forten sweet or something similar and see how that goes

I am not a fan of the twisted strings or shaped strings - they don't make much of a difference for producing spin. The companies who produce these shaped strings are just trying to make their mark in a very crowded market place.

The best string for spin production and overall playability has been M2 Pro in BLX & K90's - no bullcrap twist or shape, just the Luxilon secret. Most people who rubbish Luxilon's are those who can't or wont pay the premium price for the best strings on the market.

I have tried a few of these cheaper strings and the best I have found so far was the Signum Pro Hyperion - soft and classy string without all the stiffness that is associated with Tornado

Extreme feel compared to what exactly? Try the new mantis stuff. I think it's great. Hopefully I don't start sounding like a shill. :p

Hex 1.10 didn't give much feel for this player as well.

I found Hex to be kind of stiff and 'boardy'....but i may have had strung too tight,....next time using that string i'd string much lower tension:-|

check the June 2010 string test sticky. that shaped / textured Solinco string produces tremendous spin.

M2 doesn't even come close.

feel wise, i think gut is still the best. poly - 18g volkl cyclone is good.

i've tried quite a few and i find thinner strings don't necessary feel better. but co-poly at 18g is good. the down side is they don't last.

Luxilon M2, Typhoon, and Lux Ace come to mind first. Tour Bite is pretty decent as well so far

BAM is supposed to give good feel but when I tried it in a full job, it kind of felt mute. Granted, it wasn't in my own racquet though

PolyStar Energy is one of the polys with the most feel... I have not tried Pro Supex or Genesis strings so cant compare though

you should try Head sonic pro 17g or Pacific X force 18g...i prefer the X force since it's thinner..am sure you will stuck with the X force.

Out of the MSV co-focus, co-focus HEX, Topspin cyber flash, cyber blue, Signum pro poly plasma,
Signum pro poly plasma delivery the best feel no other company matches the feel of sppp.

SPPP 1.18 felt too boardy and stiff to me.

But thanks for all the suggestions, I think I have enough setups to try for the next months:lol:

I'll get some Mantis and Polystar sets to try, also hybrids with Mantis Power syn gut 17.

I gotta say X-force (17 in my case) has and awsome feel, it one of those strings that you pretty much know what the ball is doing as soon as you hit it. id say it has a feel like your playing with a ping pong paddle. it's unique.

Cyclone

I use a full bed of Volkl Cyclone 17g in a 16x20 pattern and LOVE it. It has great feel (for a poly) and it's soft, but not mushy. The only other string I'm looking to use is the tourbite or revolution. Definitely try the cyclone though, for the price it's worth at least a test run.

I actually really like Luxilon Adrenaline in terms of feel, power, and just about everything else. Including price!
