Poor man's grip shape change

I think I figured out how to make my PK 5g grip more like a Head grip. I started playing with the rectangular grip so I like it better.

I purchased the wax grip buildup material that comes in sheets and placed it (picture the face of a clock, looking at the butt of the handle) around the top of the handle from 10 to 2 and at the bottom from 8 to 4. It is super sticky so it doesn't have to go all the way around. Then I took a knife and laid it flat on the 9 and 3 bevels and trimmed the material. This put the cut of the material on an angle and widened the 9 and 3 bevel. Now this does increase the handle size, weight, balance etc etc, but it worked better than I had hoped. I always doctor my racquet with lead tape anyway so it was just a matter of re-calibrating the racquet to get it back as close to where I had it before as I could. I guess you could make a rectangular grip more square by putting the buildup material 7 to 11 and 5 to 1 and trimming the 12 and 6 bevels. If you start out with a grip a size too small in either case you should be able to do it and not get the grip too much bigger than you need. The sheets come in 1/2 and full sizes.

Or you can call racquetmaxx and have the pros do it, but it isn't cheap. He threw out around $500 bucks just to get me a mold made, and I didn't ask how much to do each racquet. After removing my grip from my PK 5g I noticed the handle is made of the same material as the racquet and hollow instead of the racquet shaft sticking down into a foam like material, so I don't see how you would even change the handle on the 5g because once you cut it off or trim it down, there isn't anything left to mold the handle around.

Anyway, I just thought someone else might want to try this out.

Cheers!!
