Poor Osaka got destroyed once more, LOL!

Does anybody want more proof that Osaka will never win another GS??
She has no weapons whatsoever. Vondrousova made her run from one side to the other like a dog in training. At the end of the match she was very tired and what running like a crazy headless chicken did for her?
A few extra points ,but not a match.
There are only more and more players beating her and people still say that she has chance to win more majors with that serve ,forehand and volley skills.
I don't think it is possible to win anything with Osaka's 15 y.o forehand anymore.
The pusher got what she deserved. Vondrousova hit through her, hit her off the court.

Tennis at the Olympics is not comparable to Grand Slams. The lack of cash prizes is a huge difference. Osaka will be fine. At the current state of women’s tennis, she has as much, if not more of a chance of winning another GS, than the other top 10 women.

This thread will probably be deleted, so get your opinions in quick. Osaka said she does not want the media attention, yet did a sports illustrated shoot, a Netflix documentary and has had a colourful change in hair. She has every right to do all of those things, shes her own woman, nobody is disputing that. But I don't get this idea that she is doing a "media blackout" to avoid mental stress etc.

I agree, she has as much chance as most.
I guess it depends the level of pressure she now feels, and how intimidated her opponents feel. Once the cracks appear the opposition are waiting to swoop - ask Serena Williams.
I am bemused as to her approach to her anxiety issues: it appears to have just magnified them whilst dividing opinion.
If it's all about headlines, job done.
If it's raising awareness? Hmmmmm

This is a strawman argument. Osaka did not say she does not want media attention, only that she did not want to do press conferences at Roland Garros. The two are hardly the same.

Gee, no wonder this place is so dead, you guys have no sense of humor. You don't even know the guy I'm parodying and instead of taking the thread as the joke it is and play along, you're taking it seriously, LOL. TTW is so FINNISH it's not even funny.

To be fair a lot of posts are like that so it's hard to tell spoofs from the real thing since they look exactly the same.

yea people just went overboard with everything. Obviously she love media and all of those covers and netflix deal has been waaaay agreed before French Open press conference (Press con not Media) boycott.

admit it, y'all dislike ever since Cincinnati/US. Open thing, and it shows.

also in other news, Simone Biles just cited Naomi Osaka inspired her to pull out from team comp due to not in the right head space.

I think Naomi came into the Olympics out of shape. She is carrying some baby fat that I wouldn't expect from an elite athlete. I think that her focus on the Netflix documentary, the Sports Illustrated photo shoot, and the social justice issues are distracting her from what made her successful: her tennis. Hopefully for her, she can refocus on fitness and tennis. She already has enough fame and money. If she focuses on her tennis, everything else will take care of itself.

Osaka is a strange case. Sometimes she is not interested in winning at all and bogged down by issues outside court.
Losing in Olympics was strange because she was motivated to win. But she's out of match play for long time

But when she is on song, she's unbeatable , see the 4 gs she won.

I see Osaka as just another huge hitter in the WTA with no plan B. She's streaky. On song, she can overpower opponents. Off it, she's spraying errors and giving away matches like she just did. She'll win some more slams, but as for being a dominant number 1, it's not going to happen without becoming more flexible in her approach to the game. She's like Ostapenko with a serve.

Not sure it's baby fat - looks like a steady diet of taco bell

You start the year winning, and by the end of that same year they say you're washed up.

Only time will tell...
She's definitely not washed up. But, she's not the player she was. But, she did use to play tennis full time. For a part time job, she's not doing too badly.

I think she wins three more slams, gets ATG status and then makes serious serious serious bank on her story.

She wants the money but doesn’t want to be bothered aboit it. Gimme the cash and ask me no questions, I can’t handle the stress

A huge part of tennis is mental and Osaka is demonstrating what happens when you don't have that mental game. That said, she is already a shoo-in hall of famer, having achieved more in a third of a career than say Kerber has in her entire career.

That’s exactly what I’ll tell my boss: I want full pay, but I’ll do the meetings the best I can, as I stress easily and I have mental challenges. I’m curious what’s gonna happen…

Lol, are you comparing your job with a tennis player? I'm also just saying she did press for USO, you can find the clip on US Open youtube.

But sir, if you do have mental challenges, you should tell your boss and seek help. Peace out.

Can’t argue with a zealot… it’s like telling a priest there’s no Jesus

He's not comparing his job with a professional tennis player, he is comparing the STANDARDS required for ANY job. You think she should receive special treatment for being a tennis player? You're the one who sounds ridiculous.

No, I didn't think she should. She got fined for the FO, and after statement that she could default, she withdrew.

Bogdan says she doesn't want to do press, well she did in this USO and that's what I was saying.

She didn’t really do a presser in the usual sense. She showed up, hunched over, hiding her face, and avoiding clear responses. It is clear she needs help now. In fact, she probably needed and intervention by her team many months ago. The hangers on are dragging her down by inflating her ego so that they benefit. If she doesn’t take a lot of time away from the game, dedicated solely to dealing with her mental issues, she may never play the same tennis. If any at all.

She definitely shouldn't read this thread as it would worsen her depression.

Honestly, I think the reason she has mental issues is because no one ever gave her the life skills to be able to answer interview questions. So no wonder she feels terrified. Just use the time off to do mock interviews and she’ll come back confident and fully able to handle her job.

Naomi's behavior, starting with her holding the US Open trophy on the main court of the stadium named after a person who led his life with dignity, integrity, and honor and letting her boyfriend give the middle finger, right up to two nights ago when she smashed racquets and generally acted like an entitled brat, is a very bad look for tennis. Plus, between the prize money she has won, as well as her endorsements, she will never have to seriously work again in her life. She's in what - the top 0.0001 percent of people on this earth? Businesses are paying her a lot of money to play tennis. Either behave like a professional when you are on court, or quit and walk away. With that being said, she's young, and the world is a crazy place right now. Plus she's under a ton of pressure to win and she loses to an 18-year old. Honestly, it's a lot to handle at such a young age. I just wish she would keep the woke / social justice stuff off of the tennis court. On her own time? - sure, knock yourself out. Just not on Arthur Ashe Stadium when Chase Bank just gave you a check for millions of dollars. I think that upset more than a few people. They were booing her two night ago. Hopefully she reflects on that.

It appeared that the only people in Osaka's player's box were her mother and her coach. In the past her father and sister were present. How 'bout her boyfriend? Maybe her issues stem from problems on the home-front?
