The 2012 French Open could be the most historic French Open in history, consider:

If Federer wins his first round match, he will have won at least 50 matches at each of the 4 grand slams. No other male player has even won at least 50 matches at just 3 of the grand slams. If Federer wins his first two matches, he will have the record for most grand slam matches won, overtaking Jimmy Connors, with 234 grand slam match wins. If Federer reaches the semifinals, he will tie Jimmy Connors with the most Grand Slam semifinal appearances of all time with 31. If Federer reaches the semifinals, he will have reached at least 7 semifinals at all four Grand Slams. Only two other players (Lendl and Agassi) have reached just 5 semifinals at all four Grand Slams. If Federer reaches the finals, he will have reached at least 6 finals at three different Grand Slams. Only two other players (Borg and Lendl) have reached just 4 finals at three different grand slams. If Federer wins the French Open, he will tie Guillermo Vilas with the most match wins at the French Open with 56 (if Federer reaches the semifinals, he will in one tournament, overtake, Andre Agassi, Bjorn Borg, and Ivan Lendl for most match wins at the French Open).

IF Nadal reaches the final of the French Open, he will have reached 16 grand slam finals, tying him with Borg for the 5th most of all time (he currently has the same as Jimmy Connors and Andre Agassi). If Nadal wins the French Open, he will join Sampras as the only male player in the open era to win the same grand slam seven times. If Nadal wins the French Open, he will tie Borg, Sampras, and Federer for most consecutive years (8) of winning at least one grand slam.

If Novak wins the French Open, he will become just the 8th man (however, the 3rd in the last 3 years) to win all four grand slams.

You're missing a big one - Novak will become the first player since laver to have a 4 slam streak.

Yeh but he will be the first person since Laver to hold all 4 at once.

Well Connors played in majors till 1992 when he was 40

Connors never played at all 4 majors in a single calendar year. He only played the Australian Open twice, winning it in 1974 and runner-up in 1975. Connors was banned from the French Open in 1974, skipped it in a fit of pique from 1975-1978, was banned from it again in 1986, and missed it in 1988 and 1990. With Wimbledon (debut 1972) and the US Open (debut 1970), Connors didn't miss a tournament from his debut until his retirement from full-time competition at the end of 1992, apart from 1990 when he only played and lost 3 matches on tour all year due to wrist problems.

Also noteworthy is that Connors played 115 matches at the US Open, which I believe still is a record.

But that's going off topic.

Federer was twice one match away from doing it himself with the 2006 and 2007 French Open finals, but lost to Nadal both times. Sampras tried at the 1994 French Open, but lost to Courier in the quarter finals. Nadal tried at the 2011 Australian Open, but to Ferrer in the quarter finals.

and again between USO 08 and AO 10 he was one match away twice only lacking either the AO 09 or the USO 09 title to make all 4 in a row (with the latter he was literally 2 points away in the 4th set against delpo)
fed was the closest to doing it ever since laver abd multiple times at that. but it wasnt meant to happen.
djoko now has a big chance to do it. but hes gonna feel the pressure rise on his way towards the RG final

Roddick could actually win a match. That's an achievement considering he can't even win a match on hardcourts against players such as Istomin and Malisse.

What about an "If Connors wins the 2012 French Open" ?

Connors is probably able to play at a higher level than he could in his younger days. But him winning FO would be difficult as the standard of play has dramtically improved. He couldn't win the FO (although won the US Open on clay) in his day.

I'm not Fred's biggest fan but those are insane numbers.
Almost at 31 slam semi's or better?! Talk about consistency!
