ILLEGAL DAMPENER PLACEMENT!
lmao good call
Custom Vantage 95 w/Babolat tonic mains, Signum Pro poly plasma crosses.
My 1st attempt at stringing cheapest auction site natural gut.
did you WAX the mains to prevent friction burn???? by the looks of it... i would have to guess.... NO!
lol... don't burst his bubble...
What kind of gut is that? It looks very 'rough'
It was allready waxed in the package so no I didn't wax anything. I played with this thing for like 6 sets allready and it is still holding. I bought it of the auction site it was called Ace Play Natural Gut or something like that. And yes it does feel rough, but plays very soft like natural gut should (right?). The diameter of it is suppose to be 15L but it was more towards the 14 because I had to use an awl in the grommets(sp?)
how much did it end up being per set for the cheap auction site gut?
lt's see I paid 20 bucks and got 30 half sets of this stuff
Lol.. I wondered what gauge it was when I saw it and commented the other night. It looks really thick. Price?
That sounds like a good deal. Did you bid or was it an instant buy?
Bid. I bidded(sp?) on this when the seller still didn't have any feedback...
How does that play?
Bye Bye babies!!!
These PC's are going to a new home soon! but i figured i would share a pic of my PC string jobs!
Pro Supex Big Ace 1.25 Red... on both! what a beautiful thing!
Please explain for those of us who dont know why is that necessary, and when is it necessary, only on natural guts??? thanks
I strung it up for a friend who plays with insane topspin and chews through crosses like a chainsaw. But he is particular about playability and comfort on top of durability. Synthetic Titan is able to give him at least 20 hours before packing it in, but after trying out different types of syn gut, he likes ST for great feel, comfort and durablity.
J, this looks sick!!! The red matches your pure control really well!
^^^^ ohh, it's dead on.. like it's made for the PC.
I'm sticking with my ProStaff's...old and new (building collection now)... we will see how the red BA matches up with a Black PS!
I strung all of these myself; k6.1 team w/ red x-1 biphase mains and gosen polylon crosses. plays well, lasts ~20 hrs.
johl...first pic... nice close up!
thanks. i don't get much appreciation outside of this forum
question: what is the point of stringing full blue gear? arent the grooves in the strings made for main strings, and wouldnt it save time if you hybrided it with something else?
just a thought...
first of all i didnt string it, and second of all i dont like blue gear.
my current stringjob. My AG300 with Luxilon ALU Power 1.25. Its great.
when is somebody gonna post a crappy picture of their string job? where the strings are all crooked like an academy stringing?
when the thread title is changed to "Post Pictures of your Crappy String Jobs like an Academy Stringing"
Yeah i wonder when the worst string job will show up...
Original, nah, kids have been doing that since the seventies and 80s. Same with a peace sign,
a middle finger,
the smiley face,
the frown or the angry face,
the Jesus fish,
a star of David (seriously a kid on my HS team did that),
an Italian horn,
a huge tennis ball,
a penis...or was that a rocketship?
a yin/yang symbol,
a breast (similar to bullseye),
a lightning bolt,
a Pepperdine wave,
the letters of your college (e.g. M, UNC, UVa, UW, OSU, MSU, SU, UT, CU, Cal, etc),
fraternity letters in Greek,
a half red/half blue star,
the symbol for Pi, etcetera.
I guess there's only so much artwork you can do on a stringbed, it's not like a pumpkin or a piece of sketch paper....so I've also seen some poorly done ones, like the keep on truckin' guy, a court jester...stuff like that.
I hope I didn't just spawn a cool stencil thread.
Hasve you cats ever seen the BorisBecker serving man logo?
I see you finally changed the overgrip....
By the way, Awesome stringjob....
Does it play as it looks like????
yeah, it plays pretty nicely. I am going to try out Big Ace once again, for the first time in about a year to see which poly i like better.
my current setup
tecnifibre t-fight 325, with full tecnifibre pro red code at 55lbs.
looks pretty cool chiapants...
My Pure Drive with Big Ace Red 17g.
So I was over at Tim's house and I sat down in that chair, and his Pure Drive angrily said [translated from French], "get your large American back out of my chair!" No "s'il vous plait" or anything.
BTW, this thread is one only a purist can appreciate. Like, if my wife saw this, she'd agree, and she'd understand why my trusty ol' Star3 still lives in the playroom.
I'm not alone. Thank you guys.
Oh, and I will not bore you with photos of my gut/hurricane (natural on natural) stringjobs.
great hybrid isnt it? exactly what i had in my prestige...what was yours strung at? lasted me about the same amount of time as yours
I go for 57# mains and 54# crosses... The stiff poly in the crosses helps keep the mains in line, I think. What tension do you use?
It's interesting that someone else would use the same hybrid as me. Out of all the options, what are the chances of that?
Pro supex Big ace red, tecnifiber NRG2
Pro supex Big ace red, tecnifiber NRG2
^^^ Yo! my two favorite strings of all time (so far!) I'm not into hybriding right now, just have been sticking with full BA... how does the BA/NRG2 hit?? what's the tensions?
I go 60 through out, but i use the biphase on the crosses
Well, that picture is just after a freshly strung job, and i have never played with big ace before. Looking forward to it alot. I strung that at 2am haha
Tension is - 58/60
^^^^^ i posted a pic, a few back... of my ProStaff 6.1 Classic... i botched the string job (i wanted a full one piece of Lux Monotec Supersense... forgot to measure the short side, and started stringing with the string measuring even!!! so i had to 2 piece it)... i strung the M's w/ Supersense @ 56lbs and X's with Gamma Revelation @ 58lbs.... i hate it!!!!!!! Going back to Big Ace, stringing tonight!
I have never seen "etc." spelled out. That is truly something odd to me.
a] I am surprised someone actually read down to the end of a list that long
b] normally I'd go with the abbreviated version but if I had, it could be construed (sitting right next to Pi) as another symbol for a custom stencil, which I honestly have not seen.
c] I'm actually amazed you felt it was so odd that you felt compelled to devote a post to it. That's truly something odd to me.;-)
Post Script: take care, man.
Post post script: have a happy Christmas. Jersey is nice this time of year.
Gotta love those French...
NPS with gamma asterisk spin/prince attitude
Radical with Timo/k-gut
I like the color contrast on the Radical.
Separate names with a comma.
