I have the Prostaff 85 but I find it extremely hard to play with, it's fast but doesn't have the plowthrough of my BLX90. As a result I can't hit anything deep :(

what do you want to achieve by customizing the PS 85? What kind of game do you want to play with it?

I wanted to get more stability off the PS85 as it is lighter than my BLX90 and I struggle to keep the shots deep with the 85, but leading the PS85 didn't work out so well cuz it became too hard to maneuver.

have you tried depolarized lead placement (some lead at 3/9 and on/around the top of the handle)? It will make the racquet much more solid and let it hit a penetrating shot quite easily, but without increasing the swing weight too much. Just add so much lead tape (in this fashion) so that you reach your ideal swing weight and the racquet should play fine (actually awesome really). Back in the days of the PS 85, almost all the players using it were using this customization (especially Sampras who probably had more lead than the actual racquet ).

I usually only add lead under the bumper guard because I like the polarized weight, I'll try add at 3 and 9 o'clock I guess. :)

I've always wondered how you can tell the difference. I've never known which ones I have.

Well the Taiwan version has "Taiwan" printed on the buttcap; and the TW re-issued version, I bought it from TW last year when the re-issued it, so yeah..................... :) As for St.Vincent version, never seen any.

A sizable portion of remaining new IG Prestiges just exited the market.

Have only bought 2 new racquets in the last 7yrs[long time Yonex 001 Mid abuser], here's hoping for another 7. Got a good deal too, less than $120 each.

Mids I assume. Great reviews here. They look lovely. What has become of the yonexes??? What shape are they in?

My Head Liquidmetal Instinct Tour XL frames and Head Tour Team Monstercombi bag. Racquets are strung with Tourna Big Hitter Silver Rough at 58 pounds, feature a TW 22mm x 1300mm x 1.3mm leather grip, Tournagrip, and SampDamp.

Original buttcaps were replaced with generic Head buttcaps. This is due to the fact that the original silver disk inlay on the original buttcaps tend to pop out during play.

The IG Prestige Mid is one sweet racquet! Closest to the Prestige Classic I have hit with.

So Head spend 10 years developing new technology and tells the customers it's the best when every version comes out. Now they run out of stuffs to BS, so they tell the customers their 10 year old racquet is the best ? Another piece of evidence that proves all that "new technologies" are fake. Because Wilson claims their recent Tour 90 has "same graphite braiding as the original Pro Staff 90" for best feel.

I was lucky to source 2 brand new old stock pure drive team + and a standard pure drive team in mint condition on the big auction.

So what does this mean? All four of my PSO85's are like this (by the way, the hit this morning was awesome!!) ...

Yes, they are mids. The Yonexes actually look in very good shape, I have taken care of all 6 extremely well, never whacked, dropped or tossed any of them but regular use has taken its cost and they've lost much of their rigidity, and so with it their stability, sweetspot and control.

I have never hit with one but I needed to replace the Classics so I spent much time reading what was best. In particular, your posts were the most helpful. Here's hoping it was the correct choice

As far as I know nobody spends 10 years developing any kind of technologies. Most technology is BS marketing. There has been no real advancement in racquet tech in over 25 years. They just make the racquets different every 2 years to try and get you to buy the new racquet.

What are you going to string them up with?
I think you will enjoy them. Cheers!:)

I know what you mean. I was just talking about every "technology" they use to make racquet is just marketing BS. Racquets are made of glassfibre, graphite, and kevlar; and different combination of these materials create the difference in stiffness and feel, not "graphene", or "aerogel", or "basalt", whatever they are called. Aerogel costs thousands of dollars for a few ounces for instance, there is no way they can put sufficient enough amount to make a difference.
All "racquet technology" are just snake oil. Manufacture/TW want to sell more new racquet every generation so they just make up stuffs. The pros know better, but are still under contract with manufacture, so they use paintjob version of old racquets.

What is the latest REAL Technology?

What is the latest REAL Technology?

Probably introducing co-polyester to the market, most co-poly play alike (not the same) though, I wonder how "revolutionary" Luxilon 4G and Babolat RPM Blast really are. You can change up the color of one string and give it a new name, then give it $18 price tag. Most people can't tell it's the same string at all, and would praise the Lord they got a new, best string ever made. It is proven statistically, when people bought identical product but with different price tag, almost everyone likes the one with a larger price tag more.
As for racquet technology, most of the technology have been invented since the early days of graphite bases racquets (1980s), to change flexibility, you change the ratio of graphite/kevlar/glassfibre in the racquet base material.

I wonder if you have the vaunted unibody PS85 that seemed to be in production only briefly.

I have an early China Impact font PS85 and it is supremely rock solid, it's like playing with a piece of granite. I also have a BLX Tour 90 and it's not near as solid even with fairly long strips of lead tape at 3+9.

BLX 90 is the most stable racquet I've used that doesn't break my arm.

i really like the new paint. hows the bag?

The bag is actually nicer than I thought. The materials are nice and the size is great because it isn't too big or too small. If I have to list a con, I would say that it doesn't keep shape quite as well as the Aero 12 pack bag that I previously used. The sides collapse after you use it with the backpack straps. There also isn't a thermal pocket, which isn't a huge deal but seems to be a standard feature for a top of the line bag from a manufacturer. Overall, very happy with it so far.

Finally got round to collecting all the sticks & shoes together. Some of these frames will be up for sale soon, UK only I'm afraid. Details to come soon.

How come your Blacks have blue gromments? Are not Blacks supposed to be 18x20 -- ie the gromment should not fit, even if you tried ?!
