quick update for those considering getting their frames repainted. Don’t expect Angell type durability. I’ve literally gone years without getting through the top coat on my Angells. First time out with my newly repainted DR and I bumped it off the bench on a changeover and it took a noticeable chunk out of the white one :(
Nooooooooooooooooo!!!!!

Damn. That sucks. Kinda off putting, as I was thinking of sending my rackets next month...

Who painted them?

In which photo is there a chunk? Maybe a solid black gloss paint is more durable. I wonder what angell's secret is, their paint really is tough

Haven't seen the consequence of the mishap but I've had my share of unintended racquet bumps where some paint just "flew" off a racquet - at least two instances where I accidentally bumped the racquet into some metal structure (such as: court fence, or the metal board on my hitpartner tennis wall). (Please note that these were not (!) anger-related "bumps" - I never throw my racquets) but solely simple mishandlings (yeah, make some fun of it, I know it's coming ;) )
So I guess you're never safe from something like that but the real question is will chunks of paint come off from regular play (e.g., scratching the court on low shots)?

Just strung this up for a pal.
Bab Purestrike Evo 18x20. Strung with Pro's Pro Synth gut 16.

Hitting with him tomorrow. Perhaps it will get spin.

Very nice. First gen Strikes are very underrated in my humble opinion. Which one is the Evo btw? Is it the Tour that is called that?

Love the first gen Pure Strike 98, in 16x19 pattern. I think the 8 mains spacing is great.

I was rocking a couple of them full time prior to the lockdown. I have them on fb Angell Halo 3 on 48/44lb.

I sometimes use fb of Pros Pro Syn Gut 16 at the same tension if I want to use different colours. Both plays great for me. Lol

Fantastic! Really love the Wimbledon paint scheme on those as well. Don't see many of those floating around.

The frames were designed by a group of Prince engineers who left to form their own company with a license from "The Championships". They had slightly different lay ups Black being the stiffest.
Ken Flach used this model in the 1980's. His partner Bobby Seguso used a Pro Kennex Silver Ace.

Seguso started using the HEAD Prestige Pro 600 in 1991

Thank you. 95D is a beast, I can't add any lead as with leather it's topping out at 12.7oz. I don't play with it much but it's fun to have and pretend I'm the Stanimal.

Rev Pro: Tourbite soft / TNT
Youtek IG: Kirschbaum Xplosive (meh) / TNT
PT 2.0: Head Lynx, what it came with. Going to cut that out immediately. Any suggestions? I have quite a few string sets lying around
95D: RPM blast (Stanimal, duh)
DR 98: Solinco Confidential. I'll have to revisit this string (probably in the PT 2.0). Seems decent but the DR might be the wrong frame for it
Nice collection! I’ve been playing with Tour Bite Soft in the PT2.0 at 48/46 but it loses it tension too quickly for me and gets bouncy. I’m going to string it next time with Confidential as I like it’s tension maintenance better.

I totally agree about the TB soft. I like it a lot but I only got about 4 hours of serious hitting out of it in the Rev Pro and I started spraying everything long. Re-strung it with the second half of the set and might go back to Hyper-G after.

For the PT2.0 I ordered Champions Choice one time because YOLO. Probably try a few strings once that's done.

I hit with him in 1991 and he was using the Prestige Pro 600. In that video it doesn’t have the cosmetics of the Pro Kennex. Has the glossy CAP System you can see.
As I wrote, a paint job. I defer to your knowledge or the real, not the promoted deal.
I saw Laver with his golden wood Chemold, which he later admitted was a Dunlop.

Was this a hinted present or was she monitoring the release date? Lol.
Now you got 6 bumblebees in the bag heh, how will you choose!

I just got lucky really. Was staring at the laptop screen lost in my own thoughts with browser open on TW's PAVS page. She just walked in, saw and asked if I wanted them for my birthday. Now I'm thinking I should have been on the page for the new Seadoo I've been eyeing :cautious:

One of my bags definitely has some yellow accent sticks going on in large numbers. Maybe a good omen for the upcoming 360+ Extreme? I know I'll end up owning that one anyway, haha.

Haha that’s awesome. I know it’s not the thread but let us know how these compare to your APDs.. I know you didn’t like the PA’s too much and I imagine demo time may be hard during this time!

‘Tis why I may be grabbing a 360+ Prestige Mid later today without a demo. lol...

Just a classic from KB. Andre made this thing famous back in the day, so I thought it deserved to be posted here.

P.S. If I played same way as 15 years ago, mostly flat with classical strokes, I would probably take it out and do some competitive hits.
But now it is not that easy to keep up on clay courts against young spin-machines. Though, I might string it put it on my bag an give it to go for some casual hit.
P.P.S. I am just shocked by quality of paint. It is second to none.
