Post USO Blues

Rotterdam is average at best even with Fedr in odd years, and Dubai is late February going into March. Not enough to save the entire month IMO.
There are actually 12 tournaments scheduled in February plus Davis Cup 1st round. I think that must be more than most months.

I'm a bit down anytime a GS ends, except RG maybe since I know Wimbledon is so close. That said, I like the upcoming tournaments. Beijing, Shanghai, Basel, the WTF. I like this time of year more than I like the time post any other slam tbh.
Wow, so better than post AO, where you get the sunshine double and then MC, Madrid, Rome?

I've already gave a reason for that. Those events are too far away to be called "post" AO anyway. Particularly the clay court season. The end of the season the last few years has had good battles for YE #1, and it's always interesting to me to see who makes the YEC. And now we get Laver Cup for a couple more years at least. Lots going on post USO.

For me the season is not ended at all, I'm looking forward to the Laver Cup, Saint-Petersburg, Beijing, Shanghai, Basel and the WTF ! I really like indoors conditions, it's just too bad that players are exhausted at this time of the year

Well only 6 days until the St. Petersburg Open. Thiem, Fognini, Shapovalov, Khachanov and Mayer are playing. I'm looking forward to that.

I feel that I am all tennis watching out! Both tours should just have a three month break for players to take time off, heal and do promotional stuff! The Asian swing is just to much for some players since there is also the FED Cup, Hopman Cup, Davis Cup, exhibitions, etc...

The season does bascially end after USO.

The other events are glorified competitive exhibitions. Not many of the other players participate or willing to travel to Asia to play a 500 event.

For the most part the tennis season sucked overall this year and it seems to be getting worse as the years go by. No new champions, new rivilaries on the men side.

Novak Djokovic coming back is the only interesting part this season.

Kevin Anderson and John Isner is the match of the year followed by Thiem and Nadal at the USO.

Best followup series was the US Open then Tsiptsas reached the finals at the Rogers Cup.

The women's side was more interesting and actually had better storylines with Sloane and Simona Halep and we actually had new champions aside for Serena this year which was a refreshing change. Then the women's season went to **** when Serena came back and it became all about her again and pushing herself as mom of the year and being BFF's with Meghan Markle.

Thank you Naomi Oaska for being the shining light and player of the year.

Does anyone else feel down at this time of the tennis season?

I can’t really get excited for anything left on the tennis schedule, including the WTF.

I wish it were January already so we could play the AO!

You have this incredible Davis cup weekend coming up where NO player tanks and try and give 140 % every point.

Then you have clown show called Laver cup where they make the scores close and guys on the bench act like Cowboys cheerleaders...... Federer pretends like this is more important than his 20 majors and wimbledons............ WOW.

Comparing Davis Cup to Laver Cup is like comparing well, hum, ok, leave it there.

Yes! I always feel like this at this time of year! I can get up for WTF and Shanghai, but for some reason Paris Bercy never feels like a Masters to me (perhaps all the inevitable withdrawals.)

Yep, I agree; the season just sort of feels over.

I still look forward to seeing how tough Fed can play Djoker. Fed was in terrible form in Cinic. However, Djoker has raised his hard court came 2 levels since Cinci, which is quite scary. Also, Djoker is closing in on Fed’s WTF record as well. So there is still a lot at stake.

What’s the difference between semifinal group and playoff group?

Fed and Djoker are both on Team Europe so they will not play each other...

The YEC/WTF just isn't worth a hill of beans anymore. Hasn't been really since the 90s when we had so many classics. They should probably just end the calendar season after the USO. And give the guys the extra break

To be in takeover mode at the start of 2019, the NextGen has to shine during the fall season, so I'm looking forward to it.

The problem is that there is no slam to build up to with the smaller events. The summer USO series, for example, heightens the importance of those events because they logically lead up to the big show in NYC.

Same for the clay season.

Not really. This year is as exciting as last year. Will Novak recapture #1? Or will he end the year at #2?
