Hey LeeD are you playing tomorrow, looks like no rain.
I'm in the bay area and am willing to play LeeD. He's just gotta meet me halfway since I'm in cupertino.
I"m in SanPablo.
Halfway would be somewhere around SanMateo, if I'm correct.
My van gets 9mpg, plus a SIX dollar bridge. From SanPablo to bridge is 8 miles. Bridge is 9 miles. Going tru SF to SanMateo about 20 miles.
So you guys want a guy who makes $4,000 anually to drive about 80 miles, or 7.5 gallons of gas at $4.00 a gallon, PLUS 6 dollar bridge to play some tennis on Monday? It's been raining all day today Sunday, and forecasts are cloudy and raining all week.
Heck, I work 2 hours gardening to make $30.
Hey! Yeah almost every one I play, its great! I have to travel a bit to many of them however. Wish there were more locally all year!
thats pretty rad. any in illinois that you go to>
Ive thought about doing the Mansuelo tournament in Chicago a couple years but its always during something thats closer. Other than that, just the futures tournaments I might think about which are in July I think. Let me know if you know of any others!
the LaSalle Peru tournament. no money but you get a sweet t shirt. lol.
i dont know of any really. around here in the summer time a few towns have there local invite but nothing great. If there are any, other than chicago, they would probably be in Peoria or champaign(where the u of illinois is.) i live about an hour and a half from peoria and its even longer to champaign so i wouldnt know.
TonLars, if you are coming to Illinois at anytime, I'd love to watch you play. Didn't you mention one in Downer's Grove?
@TonLars -there's HandzelOpen in June, it's in Northbrook, illinois (Chicago suburb) http://handzelopen.com/
I believe there's money award for open category.
I'm currently a student so I know what it's like to not have money. I will drive pass the bridge that way I will pay the 6 dollar toll fee but that's as far as I will go.
Cmon Domond, you can make it out to Hayward.
Yes, I can make it out to Hayward. It's 11:33, drizzling with wet streets, forecast for PM rain, light rain all last nite past bedtime at 11.
Streets are wet, courts are wetter.
I think we got something folks. Hayward courts..LeeD and ci2Ca..coming soon???!!!
I am a little jealous. Never had a bad encounter hitting with a TW guy.
Is the GF out yet?
SuperDuy, did you hear any rumors of a tremor in Japan?
US StateDept is discouraging any travel to Japan.
USDA is telling all it's employees to stay our to Japan.
ONE USDA employee left for Indo yesterday, then on to Taiwan, then to Japan in two weeks.
NO, she's still here.
A tremor? Thats putting it very lightly haha How about a 9.0 earthquake, huge tsunami, thousands dead and 2 nuclear power plants on the brink of meltdown.
Decision had to be made by Sat. morning.
Japanese on the other side, 300 miles S of Tokyo, responded to come, no damage in their area. They sent message by a complicated backup communications system, since their internet, cell phones, fax, or other normal communications was disrupted.
What do you think, given the time frame for final decision was Sat. morning.
So in other words you were dissapointed as you could of gone to Puerto Rico
PR would cost me price of airlines, which is close to $500, and I have to bring kiteboarding gear, as I have no windsurf gear there.
My retirement doesn't give me a check until April20. It's been raining every week for a day or 2, mostly when I"m scheduled to garden. No gardening in the rain, so I've been making less than 1/2 my usual big dollars. My usual big dollars is right around $60 a week.
Ever try to keep a g/f with $60 a week? That includes every breakfast and some dinners, and some entertainment money to boot.
DonaldTrump, please consider helping.
considering $60 is pretty normal tennis coaching rate... I think a career change is in order here.
S'all a matter of perception.
Back in school, I played one season of baseball, two track, 5 basketball, and 3 football.
I surfed thru 35, raced roadracing two seasons, motocross 4 years, shot PPC and IPSC pistol, currently been windsurfing for 27 years, kiteboarded one, and the idea of being a tennis coach just doesn't seem right.
you said it yourself... just a matter of perception.
the idea doesn't sound right, but what is that you think you are doing with giving technical advices here?
you are already doing it. for free.
why not pick up the $60/hour.
I like the idea of FREE.
I give windsurfing, surfing, motocross, and skiing/snowboarding advice for free all the time.
I got decent at those sports partly by getting free advice, so I should pass the buck down to a future generation just like I got it...for free.
Heck, I ASK for advice all the time concerning building construction, usually get it for free, so I"m not one to need to profit from advice.
You are broke and give advice all the time. It is not out of line to finally get compensated for it. Free advice is not as valued as when someone pays for it anyway. Once you assign monetary value to your teaching in person you will find that people will listen a lot more.
To each his own.
Hayward sounds great. I don't know the court situation there but If you know of some courts, let me know. My number is 408-691-2798. Lets make this happen and stop all debates about you LeeD. I'll bring my camera.
Sure, but not a good time to decide to play tennis, with rain most likely all week.
Next week, I start to demolish our kitchen....all walls, ceiling, floors, counters, cabinets, countertops, the whole shebang. Might be a little busy.
This week, I have time Wed, but rain, Thurs but rain, Friday but rain. Sat. I work at CalAdventures.
Don't know of any courts in Hayward, never played there.
so the action man was modeled after yourself.
Did you eat hot lunch in school, I'm dying to know?
"hot lunch in school"....
Hmm.... seems I remember 3rd thru 6th in the cafeteria.
7th grade and new school, never, so never 8th and 9th.
From then on, I'd walk the 3 blocks to the local Deli or TennesseeGrill to buy lunch.
this thread is priceless
Domond don't take these guys too seriously, they are just messin' with ya.
Hey, I like a hot rueben sandwich as much as the next guy..
Well, you have my number. Let me know and We'll figure something out.
This goes for everybody else in the bay area too. Shoot me a call for a hit.
worked my ass off the whole day trying to get an escrow going, but no cigar.
so what's the over/under on how many days till a reportable hit with Lee will actually happen here?
Let me set a vegas line first.... 50 days?
When the rain stops.
I'm predicting when Spring comes around and all the rain stops.
Where are you at! I get back to Peoria area now and then.
Leed you playing anyone on here today? Since it is no rain? u should phone up ci2ca.
Heading to RoseGarden in about 10 minutes. Need to bring my van in case there's any late afternoon rain. Might bring one of the 200's.
The reason I never maintained any good level of tennis is that I never wanted to call up buds for tennis or make appointments. I've been a surfer since 1964, and as such, hate preplanned events.
Life should be about ad lib and instantaneous decisions.....
Stuck at work right now. I'll be playing tonight though.
talking about 'hate preplanned events'.... that is actually the biggest turn off for me to join any leagues/ tournaments.
other than the playing/travel time of 2 hours minimum, it feels like you have to plan your life around tennis.
tennis should fit into life, not the other way around... I can go have a hit for 1 hour in the morning, and if during anytime of the day I FEEL LIKE to have another hit, I shoot off 2-3 text messages, and whoever responds first gets the prize.
with kids, wifey, job, golf, a house, 2 cars and all the other crap.... who has time for tournament.
If you don't like preplanned events how in the world as we ever going to play?
I"m not the one wanting to post my vid, other's do.
I do schedule meetings with inspectors and contractors, and actually show up on time.
Next 2 weeks, a contractor is coming in to rewire the house, add a subpanel, and supervise my destruction of our entire kitchen down to stud walls, joists and rafters, then a complete rebuild.
[moving the over/under from 50 days to 100 days, due to inclement weather, and contractors coming]
I don't see LeeD playing anyone. Seems like he may be more comfortable in cyberspace. Hope I'm wrong.
I don't even care about his playing abilities or any of that anymore. Just want to see if he's actually a real person...not just a tennis and story dispensing robot.
You seem to always include statements that have nothing to do with the subject at hand. It seems like you always have an excuse as well.
I'm starting to believe that more and more. I've done what i can and the fish won't take the bait. What more can I do?
