Potential matches you wanted to see at slams?

This thread is about matches that would have happened in the next round of a slam had one or both of the players won their previous match. Here are some of the recent mens' ones I would have wanted to see:

USO 16 SF: Wawrinka vs Murray. Prime/Peak Andy vs an in-form Stan would have been great. 5 setter guarenteed.

Wimby 15 SF: Djokovic vs Wawrinka- Stan has beaten Novak at each of the other slams and it would be interesting to see how this would have gone.

USO 2013 F: Wawrinka vs Nadal. A zoning Stanimal vs a fully fit and in-form prime Nadal in a final of a slam would have been epic.

RG 2011 F: Nadal vs Djokovic. Peak Novak vs peak/Prime Rafa on clay in a BO5 in 2011. Honestly think Novak would have won. Had the potential to be even better than their AO 2012 match imo.

USO 2010/11 F: Federer vs Nadal. Would have been nice to see a Fedal match at the USO but 2011 would've been a better contest.

AO 2010 SF: Federer vs Djokovic. Interesting match; on Plexicushion but this was before prime/Peak Novak, probably Fed's best chance of beating him there

I really wanted Zverev to beat Berdy at Wimbledon this year. Such a shame because his side of the draw was so open, he could have gone deep. Too bad the Berd played well that day. Still, it was great to see young Sascha step out on to Centre Court for the first time. The crowd seemed to love him.

I believe it's been on the cards a couple of times, and never come to fruition. Most recently was Roland Garros this year where the party pooper Andy Murray kept it from happening, and that was particularly disappointing because to see this match happen on clay would be particularly entertaining. It's Dr. Ivo Karlovic vs. Big John Isner. I will give a lung to see them play each other in a best of 5 sets match, I'd give a lung, a kidney, and an eye to see it happen at Roland Garros. You all know you feel the same. Don't deny it.

Besides the obvious ones that have already been mentioned, I'm going to throw out a few that I'd like to see in future assuming both players are at a good level.

Wawrinka vs Nadal at RG
Delpo vs Nadal at RG
Federer vs Delpo in another USO Final.

Fed v Agassi at the 04 AO...Roddick v Hewitt at the 04 USO...Fed vs Nadal at any HC slam in Fed's peak. Fed vs Djokovic at Wimbledon from 08-09 and 11. Fed vs Roddick at Wimbledon 07 would have been interesting. Also would have liked to see what would have happened if they were on opposite sides of the draw at the USO that year...ditto for Sampras-Agassi in 01.

Going a little back I wish Agassi hadn't blown it and had made the 95 Wimby final against Pete...that year would have truly been the year of Pete and Andre then. Or if Pete was healthy and had met Agassi at the 94/99 USO where Agassi wasn't exhausted like he was in 95.

Fed vs Nadal at Wimbledon and USO.
Well we have a pretty good idea what would have happened. 2009 Wimbledon may be a 50-50 (remember Nadal was actually amazing on grass back then), while Federer almost lost in 3 or 4 sets against Roddick, who had a matchup disadvantage saved with a backhand that was clicking better than his normal and a booming serve. Not a good substitute for a matchup advantage + Rafa forehand + lefty slice serve out wide to the backhand, even if surface would help Federer a bit. Plus, in my opinion Federer played better in 2008 but almost lost in straights back then. Still, 50-50 because of Federer's comeback in 2008.

USO 2009 would have gone to Federer in 4 sets. No way Nadal was going to beat Fed imo. USO 2010 and 2011 would have gone to Nadal. The reason why I think 2011 would have gone to Nadal is because the only person Nadal was losing to was Djokovic, and he was clearly in Rafa's head. Roger wouldn't have such a benefit, and rather suffers from a matchup AND mental disadvantage. I'd say four tight sets to Rafa or four tight sets and a blowout in the fifth.

Still would have loved to see any of those three matches regardless of the result.

AO - A fully fit Safin v's Federer at AO 2004. Safin wins this imo.

FO - Safin v Nadal. The only top player Safin never played in a slam. Of course Nadal would more than likely stomp, but Safin has beaten some very good clay courters at the FO, if any player could beat Nadal at the FO aside from Djokovic, I would give Safin a bigger chance than others due to the fact he wouldn't care enough to choke.

W - Roddic v Nadal. These guys featured in 8 consecutive Wimbledon finals from 2004 to 2011, and they somehow never played against each other. Prior to 2011, Federer was clearly the best GC player, followed by Nadal, but Roddick was the best of the rest. Definitely the strongest matchup at Wimbledon that never occurred.

US - Federer v Nadal. So that Nadal could have the Federer slam, let's face it, Nadal clearly wins this matchup contest.

USO 2013 F: Wawrinka vs Nadal. A zoning Stanimal vs a fully fit and in-form prime Nadal in a final of a slam would have been epic.

This would have been another straight-set win for Nadal. "Stanimal" (the man who doesn't lose in finals) didn't exist in 2013.

?

He destroyed Murray (the defending champion) in the QF and was so close to beating Djokovic in the semis; he hit him off the court in the first two sets.

My point exactly. In 2013 Wawrinka had never taken a set off Nadal, and though he came "so close" to beating a prime Djokovic, he didn't. That didn't happen until 2014.

Nadal vs. Fed 2010 USO. Can't say 2011, because my boy Novak won in the final :). I

Djoko vs Fed USO 14 final . Rematch from last slam at Wimby 14

I agree it's not the same Stanimal we've seen since then, but he was awesome in that tournament. This thread is based on hypotheticals and yes, He was unlucky not to go through, but if he had, Nadal wouldn't have had it as easy as you think

federer nadal US open final any year besides 2008, cannot afford to take risks (plot twist: actually i wanted 2013 USO quarterfinal too, although we all know how that would ended and hurt the H2H even more)

murray djokovic 2011 wimbledon final

dimitrov federer 2014 AO semi

dimitrov federer wimbledon 2014 final

wawrinka djokovic 2015 wimbledon semi (regardless of result would have been another incredible chapter in their slam rivalry)

federer nishikori us open 2014 (dont have to explain this one)

federer cilic us open 2015 final ( the sweetest of revenges, had this happened, would not had minded at all if marin had taken out roger in wimbly quarters)

serena venus 2016 wimbledon final (although i can never get enough of angie)

murray vs not djokovic in any of the finals that he lost

Federer/Nadal 2009 US Open final. Bookend slam finals for 2009. Nadal stopped Federer's 5-consecutive-wins streak at Wimbledon. Would he do so at the US Open?

2017
Australian Open:
Kyrgios vs Nadal
Djokovic vs Wawrinka

Roland Garross:
Djokovic vs Nadal
Cuevas vs Muray

Wimbledon:
Djokovic vs Murray
Kyrgios vs Federer

Us Open:
Cilic vs Nadal
Thiem vs Wawrinka

USO 2008. Federer vs Nadal.

Nadal was absolutely spent by the time the USO rolled around that year after a huge season. He still made it to the Semi where he lost to Murray (Murray was brilliant in that match).

It's the slightly-faster hardcourt major final match that we never got to see. Would have been fascinating if Nadal had made the final to see how he would've coped. He may have found something ala AO2009 or he may have wilted given he was running on almost zero energy.
