Power in Kick Serves?

How can I give my kick serves some power? All I've been doing for my 2nd serves are topspin serves, since my kick serves are merely high and stationary, and ready to be smacked.

I find that if you bend more your knees and at the waist more during the toss so that your hips are closer to the net than your waist (also known as making an "Archer's bow" ), you will get a lot more power on the kick

Another thing you may want to try (besides all the above mentioned) is to toss the ball over your head but like one foot inside the court so you can put your weight on the shot.

Deeper knee bend. More racquet head speed.
Hit the ball a bit higher on the racquet (between the sweet spot and the frame) will give the ball more spin.

While speed is a favorable thing with any serve, don't forget that it is the action of the kick serve, the arc, the bounce and the angle which the kick can be hit to the ad court especially, that makes this serve effective too.

Like a curve ball in baseball that his thrown too hard, there will be minimal break. If you lean in too much and drive your kick serve, you will have a fast serve, absolutely, but you will lose some of the dynamics that the kick serve done at the right speed would have.

Certainly, increasing racquet head speed is the key to any great serve. This aspect will increase the action of any spin or flatter serve. But, don't confuse velocity of the ball with the combination of maximum ball rotation with ideal serve velocity.

Good luck in achieving both!

Tennismastery said it best! There is the need for speed but on the same token the kick of the ball may suffer because of it. I think its best to find the middle ground in your serve so you have the best of both world - work on ball placement. Another though is to use both interchangeably to throw your oppenent off.

Quoted for Truth.
But you forgot the part about heading to the gym..
Develop your body more so u can get more natural power. :-)
