WELCOME TO THE TALK TENNIS 2011 (MARCH 23-APRIL 3) MIAMI MASTERS POWER PLAY LEAGUE​

Welcome to the second ATP Masters event of the 2011 Tennis Year, which will also be our first Miami Masters Power Play League tournament.

The player/participant picks the winner of a fixed number of matches based on the provided scoring points. The objective of each tournament is to to choose matches that will give you the highest total score.

For the Sony Ericsson Open, as it's an ATP Masters 1000 (IW & Miami), we'll be picking any 24 matches (not all from one round) out of total of 95. All matches will be posted in the thread with scoring points and will also be available in the league file. Please read the Instructions and FAQ for further details. We hope you all join and we can make this bigger and better than our previous events!

It was agreed upon last year that we are awarding players the points based on the number of picks we make, not depending on the level of the ATP event.

32 Picks (Grand Slams) = 2,000 points
24 Picks (IW, Miami and Queen's/Halle aka Grass Court Masters) = 1,250 points
16 Picks (Brisbane/Doha, Dubai/Acapulco, MC, Rome, Madrid, Canada, Cincy, Beijing/Tokyo, Shanghai, Valencia/Basel, Paris) = 1,000 points
6 Picks (WTF) = 500 points + bonus

I wonder if Miami will end up being as insanely high scoring in this game as Indian Wells has been.

Every match has scoring points for both players based on their rankings. The closer the two players are ranked to eachother the bigger the probability that both their scoring points for the match are equal. The larger the gap in rankings the more lopsided the points between them are.

You have 24 picks. (a pick is one player from one match you like to chose). That player has to win for you to get the scoring points he had next to him.

The scoring points are determined by a mathematical formula.

At the end of the tournament the player with most points accumulated from their 24 picks, wins.
