Welcome to the second installment of the Power Play League. We had a good showing at the Madrid Masters and hope to build off of that for Roland Garros.

The point of the game is to pick matches based on the scoring points that we provide. Picking matches that will give you the highest total score for the tournament is the objective. For Roland Garros, as it's a Grand Slam, we'll be picking any 32 matches out of total of 127. All matches will be posted in the thread with scoring points and will also be available in the league file. Please read the Instructions and FAQ for further details. We hope you all join and we can make this bigger and better than Madrid!

The number of rounds in a slam makes it all the more interesting. 32 picks confirmed?

Anyway, I'm in.

500 Series Events

#1: I'm checking in, obviously

#2: This is regarding the 500 series events:
So far Dubai is confirmed as one of the 500 series events to be played.
For the following 500 series events to be played, can you all please choose two 500 series events to be played:

  • Rotterdam
  • Memphis
  • Acapulco
  • Barcelona
  • Hamburg
  • Washington
  • Tokyo
  • Beijing
  • Valencia
  • Basel

The top 2 events that are chosen (by majority) are going to be played.

Thanks

Voting will occur until Sunday night, and then I will announce the results.

Thanks to all for voting so far!

Great work! I'm definitely in!

Btw, are we having a 52-week ranking system and race ranking like ATP?

In, of course.

Only the 52 week ranking right now since it's the same this year. But if we're lucky enough to continue this onto next year, we can start a race ranking. I just added the Race Ranking in The Prediction League on Sunday.

Im in for the french...

I pick Hamburg( Good matches in 2007 to present) and Basel( cause Federer is allways there to play)

Could someone please explain this to me?
Does it involve the "defending" of points from previous year?
Becaise of it does, how is that a good thing?

The defending of points concept is not going to kick in until season 2 starting with the 2011 Madrid Masters. Just like how the ATP Rankings are based on a 52 week system where the players defends point on a week to week basis to determine how the players are ranked, we are going to do the same thing because we want to be able to calculate which player is the best and is ranked #1.

It makes it more competitive and it makes you want to improve on your previous position from the tournament last year.

Beijing had a good field last year.

Basel
would be nice too.

Everyone should try to choose the later ones so we can still play instead of wait till next season.

Beijing or Tokyo - Whichever has a better field. It's right before the last two Masters.

Rotterdam - Kind of during a lull. Also, didn't want to choose another during the (American) football season. I'm just not very active on these forums during it.

Please sign up everyone! It's worth a try!

I think the French Open will be a lot of fun to play with 32 matches.

That'll make two of us.

Welcome, TRotUd!

-----------
And a bump for hopefully a few more players. 25 would be nice for the first GS of PPL.

It's really easy everyone. You just pick any 32 matches out of the 127 that will be played at RG. The goal is to pick the winners in match ups that will give you the most points.

Ok, I've got to do a better job of figuring this game out than I did in Madrid. In.

And I vote for Barcelona and Washington Post USO tennis is always kinda meh for me other than WTF.

The draw is going to be out this Friday. NYKings and I will be posting the first round matches (qualifiers will be filled out later) by the end of Friday night EST.

You can start picking your matches hopefully on Saturday once the qualifying tournament is complete.

Cmon peoplez, sign up!

LCY, I was trying to find an email address, but I couldn't... so I'll just say it here. I'll try my best to post the predictions for the first week, but if match play is about to start for the day and I haven't yet, you're free to go ahead and post mine.
