Power Play League #7 (PPL) - U.S. Open 2010

1. Why do you like to make your picks last minutes?
2. You know some matches start at 11am, why did you still pick them knowing them already started?
3. Why only did you voice out after Nishy retired and Tipsy is about to lose the 1st set?

What?? First of all, everyone have their own lives outside of TW. Why do you care if I was late making my picks?

When posted this Tip just broke back and the tiebreak hadn't started, how did you know he was about to lose the 1st set?

I guess these two matches are voided since I picked them after they have already started.

Both matches started AFTER you made your picks.

Nishikori/Montanes at 11:19 and Tipsy/Monfils at 11:14 so both picks WILL count.

Doesn't matter when you pick your picks as long as they're on time. If not, they'll be voided and you can pick other matches. Let's not get into an argument. Let's just watch some fun tennis :)

Cancel pick 19 since I already have chosen Chardy as my 15th pick

You also picked Nalby twice as well, I adjusted the spreadsheet/scores to reflect the second pick being voided.

83. Monfils vs. Andreev (5-20) - Andreev - 11th
18. Hildago vs. Brown (9-11) - Brown - 12th
71. Nalbandian vs. Serra (8-13) - Nalbandian - 13th
23. Garcia-Lopez vs. Kubot (9-11) - Kubot - 14th

70. Chardy - 15th
85. Clement - 16th
71. Nalbandian - 17th
87. Polansky - 18th

Yeah like I said its fine either way. I just thought I was late (after making the picks), if not, great, I maybe still get some points.:D

I don't think my post sounded like I was arguing, did it?:)

Nope... but I hope both of you go down on your Tipsy pick... unless I also picked him.

This has to be my worst PPL tournament ever... and it started off so wwell at 4-0.

Q for NYK:

I've been wondering this for some time. Is there a way to find out whether a match has started already? I mean, there's the official start time for some matches, but some are just "followed by" ...... and the "live" scoreboard is not always "live" at all.

thx

It's not always very easy to figure out. In this case, I was following both matches and Maestro Nalbandian's picks came in time. I did double check with the live scoreboard to check the duration of each match to make sure that I had the accurate times before posting that Maestro Nalbandian's picks count.

wow ... that puts a lot of responsibility on you or whoever is hosting for the day ..... wouldn't it be a lot easier for the host if the rule were to have all our picks posted before the first match of the day?

I was following the matches because I wanted to, not because of the PPL responsibility. In seven tournaments, the pick before the matches start/didn't start issue has been a very small one. It's unfair for people who might want to see what points they get through some day matches and then want to pick/cancel a night match.

Also, when the situation has occurred that people make picks after a match has start, a high number of them have posted something to the effect of "match has started, cancel pick." We double check to make sure it's accurate but this really isn't a big issue.

Glad I asked ... Thx

Not too much movement as only one person gained points today. Love Game was apparently the only today that gained points today and has moved up to 8th place.

Additionally, because I picked Nalby twice, I moved down to 14th place.

Let's hope that tomorrow is a better day for everyone.

Running away? Hardly, I've only gotten 1 of my last 5 picks right. I'm just lucky that most everyone else seems to be in the same boat. It's more like I happened to be ahead when everyone started missing every pick. :D

R Gasquet (FRA) vs. [17] G Monfils (FRA) - (14-7) -- Gasquet
[10] D Ferrer (ESP) vs. [8] F Verdasco (ESP) - (11-9) -- Verdasco

I forgot to add the match numbers to my previous post. Please use this post instead. Thanks!
