I think we are firmly in Sinner era now. At least for near future.

2004-09 Fed Era
2011-16 Nole 1
2018-23 Nole 2

Now we have entered Sinner era.

I was going to put Novak for AO but thought that that was pretty unrealistic.

I think he will be fully focused on AO as he was on OI 2 months ago.

If he plays all the evening matches, he will almost certainly win (he only lost one evening match in his career at AO).

yeah but he is 4th now and might drop out of top 5 from his last years masters and atp finals giving him a worse draw

Alcaraz is 23-9 in last year on HC. Which is not bad but the losses have been very bad. Lets recount.

Beijing 500 SF
Shanghai 1000 R16
Paris R32
Tour Finals SF thrashing (loss to Zverev in RR)
AO QF
IW Won
Miami QF
Cincy R1
USO R2
Davis cup (2 wins)

His 9 losses are
Sinner in Beijing
Dimitrov in Shanghai
Safiullin in Paris
Zverev in Tour Finals
Djokovic in Tour Finals
Zverev in AO
Dimitrov in Miami
Monfils (ranked outside top 50 today) in Cincy
Botic in USO

He is only 21 but these are not the best losses at his age.

I'm sorry but who the **** spread that myth that Djokovic lost only one evening match at AO?
He lost at least 4 in my recollection..

if Tsitsipas doesn't win Monte Carlo he has no chance at Roland Garros imo.

I think the next couple of years are going to be the Sinner years, provided his body holds up.

Medvedev, Tsitsipas and Zverev have hit their respective ceilings. Peers like Rune, Draper etc aren't a factor right now. If Djokovic tucking into that bread and wine the other day at a party was anything to go by, he's on easy street until he retires over the next year or two.

Alcaraz's game still looks like it has some maturing to do before he achieves the levels of consistency needed to continually reach the latter stages of most events. Right now, he peaks for some events and disappears in others.

Alcaraz/Sinner rivalry is what Sorcerer/Djoko would have looked like if Fed were the younger player
I'm pretty sure that the young Federer would have no idea how to play against Novak, the real Federer was brought out by the experience of his prime when he played against Novak. Young Federer would have many broken rackets against Novak, frustration would be around him.

I was responding to the bit about Djoko retiring

Ain't happening just yet
Tell me one slam this year where he was competitive or had a realistic chance of winning one

AO - he didn’t even generate a break point against Sinner

RG - should’ve lost to Cerundolo but ofc he choked

WB - Crushed in straights by a superior Alcaraz and played nobodies in his half of his WB draw

USO - a beat down by a inspired Australian in the third round

Do you see these results improving next year or worsening?

Djoko is smart enough to know that he's actually gaining ground on players like Zverev and Medvedev as they approach 30, they're going to have a big adjustment to make.

So that leaves Sinner and Alcaraz, and The Field (upsets like Popyrin and thorny players like Musetti). If I'm him, I'm taking those odds. Imagine if it had been Djokovic vs Fritz in the USO Final? We're celebrating #25

Point is Alcaraz and Sinner are getting better, well I think Sinner at least and it’s going to get harder for Djokovic. Both are multiple GS winners, have belief in their game, unlike the 90s gen. They are the real deal. I think Djokovic is a third favorite in slams from now on. He will be 38 and I can’t see him defeating a 24 year old Sinner or a 22 year old Alcaraz. And even so, his ranking is going to drop more and more and with doing so, he’s most likely going to have to play them back to back to win a grand slam and I cannot see him defeating them at 38 years old. I’m sure his wife agrees as well. I predict he retires in 2025.

Third favorite at Slams is great though

Especially at his age

And that’s only because he has 24 slams. In reality he’s probably a top 8 favorite. I don’t even see him making it to a final next year. Especially when he fails to defend his ATP finals points and his ranking plummets even more. If he’s the 6th seed or lower for AO, that’s bad news for him. Has to play a hellish draw to win an AO title, at nearly 38 years old. 500% sure he retires by 2025 and bookmark it

Novak wins AO. What is certain is that he will not retire until he wins 25 slams.

by your logic whole OE = no1e era. most slams out of anyone and yet was not even playing for the most part of it.

24 slams, 1 OG, more countless masters than rafa, ye#1 8 times but was DQ, banned and obstructed and would be YE#1 in 2022 if not for political BS!

11-13 can not be part of rafa era, he was no1 only 1 time (nole 2 times). was no4 in 2012 (nole no1), so his average ranking was 2,3 (noles 1,3) for them 3 seasons. he had 6-10 h2h vs nole. he had 4 slams and nole 5, 0 WTFs and nole 2, rafa 8 masters and nole 11. so 12 big titles for rafa and 18 for nole (50% more). overall 17 titles for rafa and 23 for nole. 29315 ATP points for rafa and 38810 ATP points for nole almost 1/3 more than rafa!

Tennis is in transition phase. Even if you predicted, there may be 100% error rate.

I mean even Raz is no guarantee to win RG or Wimby next year. There are 2 to 8 players who can win a particular tournament.

you can see it that way. but i think that more correct way is 2 smaller eras than one very long. 11-RG16 and W18-23! 2 years (W16-RG18) there he does not did anything worth to mention and fell out of top20 is little to much to oversee.
