Predict the Field for the 2016 ATP WTF.

I noticed someone had done a thread for this last year which got bumpred.

Here goes

Djokovic
Nadal
Nishikori
Murray
Federer
Raonic
Dimitrov
Cilic

So I have left out Berdych, Ferrer and Wawrinka (!).

I think Paire will go close but just miss out.

Could Kyrgois explode?

Is Thiem ready, he will qualify some year.

While Tomic and Goffin, do they have it in them or is top 15 maybe their limit?

Will Roger Finally drop out? He was close to missing out in 2013 (sort of) so 3 years later might be the end. Those Slams final defeats might have finally killed him

Other names to really consider imo.

Monfils, Anderson, Delpo would not surprise me. Not picking them but wouldn't be shocked if they were lining up this time next year.

Disucss.

Seems every year everyone throws in some wildcards expecting them to break through the top. I can't see much difference on tour from past years and WTF. I mean it's been the same sort of 8 man lineup for years now.
This is what I think for next year.
Djokovic
Federer
Murray
Nadal
Stan
Berdych
Ferrer
Anderson

Berdych is still very consistent at slams so I see him qualifying.
Leaving out stan is strange, he always performs his best at slams and doesn't look like he's going anywhere anytime soon.
Ferrer would be the one in the current batch I have a question mark on. Has quite a few losses at masters including 2 to Tomic. Him qualifying will come down to how well his clay season goes.
Paire has no chance. Had a few good runs at some tournaments but as recently as July he was tanking matches on the challenger tour!! He will fall fast.
Kyrgios could crack the top 20. Can't see him doing that and cracking the top 10 and qualifying for the WTF.
Thiem relies heavily on clay to produce his best results. If/when he wins the French in future years he will qualify but can't see it happening in 2016.
Tomic can get to the top 10 for sure but don't think it'll be 2016. Had a big rise in 2015. Wins over Ferrer, Cilic and took a set off Nadal but can't see him playing well against the big boys (Murray, Fed, Djokovic). Goffin doesn't have what it takes to make the WTF, his crushing by Murray shows that.
Roger dropping would be a huge surprise so no.
Monfils is out of the top 20, looking like his best days are behind him perhaps.
Anderson I think will make it with good results. Could take the spot that is occupied by Nishikori who I think will drop in 2016.
Delpo ah I hope he has a big comeback but can he play a full injury free year with great results? I don't think so :(

Now I'm sure I'm going to be wrong on some/most/all of my predictions and I'm prepared to eat crow this time next year. Til then, it's always fun to attempt to predict

Djokovic
Nadal
Murray
Raonic
Federer
Kyrgios
Berdytch
Nishikori

All conservative picks apart from Kyrgios. I thought his attitude improved post US Open and if he can be top 40 with his 2015 attitude, he can get near the top if he fixes it.

Where is your 8? lol

But thanks for responding to my conversation starters.

Federer
Nadal
Djokovic
Murray
Wawrinka
Raonic
Nishikori
And numero eighto - I'll say Anderson. If he keeps this up he'll do some serious damage in 2016.

Finally no Berdych and Ferrer, the group fillers.

Djokovic
Federer
Murray
Berdych
Wawrinka
Anderson
Tomic
Sock

Dimitrov/Nishikori/Raonic will be proved useless. Nishikori's lack of work on fitness will get him injured. Young players will struggle to challenge old lads. Nadal will have further problems with his decline and forehand, couple of clay SFs and early exits out of clay.

I wouldn't mind seeing Paire, Fognini, or Dolgopolov (or all three for that matter) qualify for the 2016 WTF by some miracle of Jesus.

Not too crazy about Raonic and Ferrer.

Djokovic
Murray
Federer
Nadal
Wawrinka
Berdych
Raonic
Gasquet

Outsiders with a good chance of making it: Tomic, Kyrgios, Dimitrov, Cilic and Nishikori (if he doesn't keep doing the Baghdatis).

Who I would like in top 8.
Djokovic, Nadal, Wawrinka, Dimitrov, Kyrgios, Coric, Federer, Cilic.

But its not going to happen.

I think there will be a pretty serious battle for 6-12 next year, anyone from Berydch, Anderson, Gasquet, Cilic,Nishikori, Ferrer will be contending. I think Tsonga will be in the mix in that ranking range as well.

Maybe Dmitrov will turn his ship around, if so he's good for 8-10 in the ranknig, maybe.

Djokovic- duh
Murray- pretty obvious
Nadal- he is ranked this high playing way below his standards this year. Even if his very best is in the past I could easily see better form next year than his, especialy since he seems to be getting a bit better now. Very likely he makes it.
Federer- it is hard to see him not starting to slip with age soon, but probably not out of the top 8 in just a year.
Wawrinka- read above.

Those are the ones I am pretty sure of. The remaining 3 spots are pretty open. I will predict though:

Berdych- with all due respect to Berdych this is sad that a 31 year old Berdych would be qualifying for the event for like the zillionth time, but probably true.
Dmitrov- could see him having a mini comeback type of year.
Nishikori

Honestly I am utterly baffled at the nearly unaminous Raonic picks. Not that I dont think he could make it, but what has he done to set himself apart to inspire such confidence. Even coming off a bad year, and he is turning 26 next year so it is not like he is an up and comer anymore.

I think Isner is another possible outlier for the 2016 WTF. The points he has to defend on the early HC season are all easily do-able. If he goes deep (QFs at least) in a couple of slams and a few Masters... I think he can do it. All Isner needs to do is be as consistent as he's been playing the latter part of this year. If he does that, he'll make it. He's already at #11. If Isner can raise a couple more spots, he'll have draws which should enable him to start making QFs easier... instead of meeting the really tough guys in 4R all the time.

Berdych has the advantage of being seeded top 8 all year, that lets him avoid the big boys before the QFs and rack up easy points.

It is harder to infiltrate the field, ever so slightly.

I don't think Kyrgios or Coric are ready for top 8 yet. I'd rather see Thiem but that is unlikely either.

Tsonga, Ferrer, Goffin, Gasquet, Raonic, Cilic, Dimitrov and Anderson will fight for #7 and #8.

Djokovic, Nadal, Murray, Federer, Wawrinka and Berdych should make it.

Sorry but what is easy points in todays tennis? Thats total nonsense. If those behind him want to qualify to WTF they have to beat him in tournaments first. Easy.

Well 2015's edition is over.

For what it is worth I have Nishikori with the best chance of actually dethroning Nole at the tournament.

You forgot Heroic Pistol Pete with bad back, suffering from thalassemia, making his return to the tour to clean up all of these MUGS.

He won't turn 26 until after the 2016 season is over. His birthday is on 27th December. I think that most players will still improve through the age of 25 or 26 these days.

Perhaps I should replace him with Nishikori in my predictions. Still, I think Raonic will probably finish in the top ten again next year. His game lacks flair but he is pretty consistent. He suffered from a lot of injuries this year.

The Big Three + Murray, Stan, Kei, Kevin and BERNARD.

Ferrer, Kyrgios, Thiem and Raonic close by.

What a stupid prediction.

Tomic??? Sock???!!! No Nadal? You must be high af

With close to certainty (not necessarily in this order):
Djokovic
Federer
Murray
Nadal
Wawrinka
Berdych

For the 2 spots left:
I expect coming from Nishikori, Gasquet, Raonic, Dimitrov, Isner, and Anderson.
Unfortunately, I expect Ferrer to drop out of Top 10, as the 1st 30+ top player to suffer irreversible decline.

I dont think Raonic in the top 8 is unreasonable. I am just surprised it is nearly unaminous in peoples picks. I thought some would predict him, but not nearly every poster. I didnt think the forecasts for him would be that strong. I could see him back in the top 10 but he is already looking like a bit of a spent force to me.

Your second list is actually my pick as well, I don't think Thiem is such a long shot either. I think he can possibly win a clay master and challenge for Roland Garros next year.

And as usual Berdych is at the YEC just to make up the numbers. What is he, like a pathetic 10-52 vs Fedalovic?

Didnt he apologize to Nadal for beating him at the Australian Open this year, LOL!

Also one time before playing Djokovic said his goal was to get atleast 4 games.
