This needs poll...i would include four options - Cinci, USO, Paris masters and ATP Finals (in case Novak qualifies, but it's dumb to think he may not honestly...)

Definitely will surpass Connors with only Alcaraz and possibly Sinner with the ability to stop him. Next Generation should be ashamed.

He has not won a title all year. He is at 99. That 104 record is not happening.
IF Djoker is interested in that record, he should enter some 250s.
Someone should ask Djoker if he is focused on that record,
The only record he has mentioned is #25, to break Margaret Court's #24.
Djoker has said that record is very important to him.

I don’t think that’s how he operates, he seems to have his own/self goals which let him get these records organically. Right now He is saying he wants to play on until he can but not sure what that actually means. I think he’s going to find motivation tough after the OG high…interesting transition time in tennis.

He said he just loves playing tennis and just loves the competition. He was sounding like Murray.
If that is the case he'll just keep on playing just for the fun of it. If any titles happen to come his way it will be because he will not have to go through young Alcaraz/Sinner.
But winning titles is not the goal. His goal is to play his personal best and enjoy the sport.
That is a realistic mindset to have.

That's like wishing where he wins now.
Without knowing draw, his form, etc its impossible. 1 year ago, Djokovic entered the draw and became overwhelming fav. Last year he was fav for every single big tournament except RG and Cincy.

That is not the case anymore. He is second/third/first fav but not overwhelming.

Djokovic is slowly getting to his 2023 form but the problem is his knee issue and the rise of Sinner.
Alcaraz was there last year as well. He was second favorite at USopen just behind Djokovic and had CP in Cincy. But now we have current number 1 Sinner as well.
Sinner plays like Djokovic, he would not give away free pts as much as Carlos and will actually earn more free pts than Carlos.

Let's see where we go from here.

I don't think he said "is very important to him".

The media in recent years has conflated men's and women's records. It is ridiculous. But it is what it is.
Djoker is hugely motivated to stand alone with the Slam record. #25 has huge historical significance.
#26 is utterly meaningless in comparison. #25 is what is driving him forward.

"Of course I am motivated to win as many slams as possible," Djokovic said when asked about Court's record.

It became a thing only when Novak started threatening to surpass Rafa. No one ever mentioned it while Fedal ruled.
Actually, he said exactrly as quoted - important to win as many as possible, not to surpass Court. That would come as a byproduct of winning as many as possible.

If Djokovic is shaky to qualify ATP finals, which why would he lol , then he will enter smaller tournaments and will 100 % guaranteed win it just to qualify for atp finals.
either way i think 100th title at least should come this year if not 101

What are you talking about he will be a favourite for USO along with Sinner and Alcaraz, same for AO next year.

What are you talking about. Sinner kicked his ass in Australia. This was BEFORE the knee injury and surgery. It will be worse next time. Get a grip on reality. He will be a huge underdog vs Sinner and Alcaraz on hard court.

We actually need the finals again because of McEnroe. He has 8. With WCT.
Well, you certainly cannot blame him for having less YEC titles than those who had 2 chances per year (WCT Finals in the 70 and 80s or Grand Slam Cup in the 90s).

Just as well you could blame McEnroe for not being Olympic champion in 1980, despite tennis not being in the program and the USA boycotting the games. ;)

but
he played SF at AO
he did not lose at RG
he played W final a few weeks after surgery
he won OG

so he is still in final stages in biggest stages so why should he mind about MMs? he should keep going as he do and prepare himself for the biggest tournament while he still is competitive. then when he is not more competitive for the biggest titles he can concentrate him on smaller ones depend of how close he is to milestones 100, 104 and 110.

In Serbian media and tennis commentators that are close to Novak there is speculation that Novak told them why stop now when I am winning. No retirement is in sight it seems. It's more likely that Novak is aiming at LA 2028 to defend OGM. So I guess that Connors' record will be surpassed by 2028 when Novak is 41 years old.

Nah, Djokovic just threw a bone to the young ones. He will clean Sinner's clock the next time they meet.

I hope he doesn't just vulture a small event and aims to secure it at one of the big ones (Slams, WTF, Masters) other than the Olympics where he would have to wait another 4 years.

Shanghai masters. He’s going back there and might be motivated after not being there a while.

If not there then a 250/500 event in first half of 2025. It could be Dubai if he plays it.

Djokovic needs to cut down on Asian swing
Dude you want to play beyond 40, forget Asia, too long a travel not worth it
