Prediction :- Alexander Zverev will beat Rafael Nadal at 2019 Roland Garros

He's an excellent player & clay is his best surface so far. Though he's been in mini slump so far this season, I'm witnessing another big leap forward for the nextgen posterboy. Sascha is improving at FO year after year, and this year he will beat the 2 times defending champion, 11 times trophy holder, king of clay, Rafael Nadal at his most successful slam. Zverev's game is perfectly built to tackle big players. His cross court backhand is extremely good to deal with Nadal's topspinning bombs and redirect them accordingly to confuse the Spaniard. Alexander Zverev Jr. Also has a powerful serve, which is unreadable when he's in zone. His FH is no liability either and because of his height, the Rafa moonballing won't be effective against Sascha.
So here it goes....

Not sure if Zverev will beat Nadal on clay of FO. For Zverev to win the whole thing, I think he needs someone else to get rid of Nadal, which I think might just happen.

I think his presence in Geneva (and every single week at an event for the European clay season) smacks of true desperation. Zverev going out early.:sneaky:

How can you watch what Nadal just did at Rome to Djokovic. Then think Zverev will even compete with Nadal?

Zverev would have all 16 of his necklaces break off from getting pushed around the court.

I give you one thing. Zverev has no respect for Rafa and if he plays like that Rome final where he was bullying Rafa until the rain delay it may happen. Problem is he will probably not go that far.

But you are also #ABZ cult member:unsure:
i've always said #ABTN b4 #ABZ... but if possible #ABTNOZ

but ABZ has always been a minor preoccupation compared to ABTN: the letsgoyelling ziraffe can't compare with the unparalleled abomination of the topspin plague.
(also, i'm ashamed to admit it, but i have the impression he sounded 'gracious in defeat' after madrid... but maybe i misunderstood him?) ;)

Oh was that a major? Was it best of 5? Was it as RG?

You were making such a big deal of Nadal's win over Nole at Rome. Another poster replied that Djokovic was only 60%, and you replied that a 100% Zverev wouldn't take a set off a 60% Djokovic. Now that you've been proven wrong, you're changing the criteria from Rome to Roland Garros.

Even if he does, Bo5 is an issue.

Rafa could spot Sascha a 2 set lead and nobody would have any faith in his ability to close it out.

The whole thread is about Zverev beating Nadal at RG. My final thought is no way. Now your right, I probably shouldn't have brought specifically Rome into it. Yes you aced me on that.

But Zverev has not played good tennis in a long time, and Nadal has lost to two people at the French. Not to the likes of Zverev. Plus, Zverev won't make it far enough to see him.

Speak for yourself. Zverev has shown he can close out big matches against the Big-3. He simply hasn't yet given himself the opportunity at a slam.

That's possible, as this has been Zverev's issue at the slams. And yes, Zverev hasn't played good tennis in a long time, but I'm hoping it's a blessing in disguise for him. He played excellent tennis in 2017 and (especially) 2018 heading into RG, and it didn't help. Perhaps playing awful tennis heading into RG will.
