Price of a gallon of gasoline

May be posted elsewhere but just fill the tank at Costco at $1.39/gallon. Lowest price locally since 2009. Anyone else aware of how cheap gas is now?

It's $2 now in Illinois, but our Billionaire Brat Governor (this is actually the first real job he's EVER had), wants to tax us more, despite the 47 cent tax he popped on last summer. . . the Social Democratic Fascist State of Illinois.

FWIW, too low is bad for our domestic industry, of course, but potentially politically destabilizing in the mideast, so perhaps good for the cause of democracy in the sand-world.

Petrol is not only cheap but driving your car from the garage to the kerb and back again is bound to save petrol.

In the UK yesterday it was at £1.06 per litre for diesel, I have filled up a price as low as that, As others have pointed out, the irony of it being so low when you shouldn't step outside.

$2.23 this morning in NH.

Why do some say low oil prices are not good for the economy? Because it hurts fracking industry here?
That must be why Trump is current;ly triying to mediate deal between Saudi Arabia and Russia..

There are a lot of leveraged loans in the oil patch.

My Mom is in southern Virginia and said it was $1.25 at her usual gas station. I was a high school junior during the first Gulf War and remember paying 85 cents at the lowest. You could cruise all weekend on 5 bucks. :)

Paid $2.75/gallon in NorCal yesterday. That's rock bottom pricing for me.

Yeah its getting to the price where I am going to find ways to intentionally burn more of it up.

Still $4.15 a gallon where I live in California, but it's a resort town with exorbitant prices on everything.

Around 80% of the coronavirus supplies that Russia has sent to Italy are “useless,” the country’s La Stampa daily reported Wednesday, citing high-level political sources.

Russia sent 600 ventilators and 100 military virologists and epidemiologists to Italy following talks between President Vladimir Putin and Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte last Saturday. Footage of Russian military trucks en route from Rome to the coronavirus epicenter of Bergamo circulated online this week.

“Eighty percent of Russian supplies are totally useless or of little use to Italy. In short, this is little more than a pretext,” an unnamed source told La Stampa.

Russia just sent lots of medical equipment off to Italy in a show of 'soft power', no doubt.

I didn't notice the Italians refusing the aid.

So what about the 100 Russian medical personnel. Did they not pass the test either?

I think the idea here was that the personnel use the imported equipment as they have been trained to do so correctly.

High supply and low demand is a perfect recipe for low prices. It will be like this for several months at least, so no need to panic buy.

Wear gloves while pumping. Lotta hands been on that handle lately.

I use those plastic bags you get from the grocery store to pump my gas. Can also use them to stain and do other messy things, great one use glove

When we were a huge importer of oil, it was a great benefit to the economy to have lower oil and gasoline prices. Now that we are pretty much at net zero (break-even) imports, I don't think it will make much of a difference to the overall economy either way in the very near term.
What the Saudis have done in the past is to sawtooth the price of oil, driving out competitors (currently U.S. fracking) from the market by dropping the price, then spiking prices up when there is little competition.
If they drive prices down low enough (below about $40/barrel) long enough, the US oil production industry could be again driven out of business, leaving the Saudis (who can produce at about $15/barrel) with close to a monopoly free to jack up the price to $100/barrel again until the US industry rebuilds.
(The good side is that current fracking technology can be re-started much more quickly than previously so they will have a smaller window of high prices.)
