I´m opening a new thread to talk and post pictures of the old Prince Racquets from the late 70´s and 80´s, and why not from the 90´s...
My main racquets are the Prince graphite mids (i play with the actual model)

Actually, i own a couple of classics:

1x Prince Original Graphite 90 (single stripe 1984 release)
2x Prince Original Graphite Midplus (4 stripes, 1987, 1 is BRAND NEW ;) )
3x Prince Graphite Tour Midsize (actual TW version, main racquets)

2x Prince Precision Monos
1x Prince Graphite Pro series 90
1x Prince Spectrum Comp Series 110
1x Prince Graphite Powerflex series 110 (rare, MADE IN ARGENTINA).

Lets start with some pictures from the last 3 on the list:

I am currently awaiting to receive 2x Graphite Comps that I got for a mighty $25 from imaddictedtobay.com

Have two 4 striper POG OS. After having read the reviews that Comp is a smaller-headed less powerful fiberglass comp version of the POG, decided to get it right away. Hopefully it will not be disappointing..

I just received the Prince Pro Magneiusm 90, will be hitting tonight (WEATHER PERMITTING)

here is a prince owner :)

I owned a couple of Prince rackets:
90:
Prince Power Pro 90
Prince Graphite Pro 90
POG 90 1 stripe
POG 90 4 stripe

110:
Prince Graphite Pro 110
POG OS individual grommets
POG OS 1 stripe with bumper
POG OS 4 stripe

Among those 90 size rackets, I liked the Power Pro 90 the most. It is flexier than POG 90. I like the soft feel, and it is as stable as POG 90.

Among the 110 size rackets, I liked the POG 1 stripe with bumper the most. It is a real beast for baseline bashing. I have to say I am disappointed in the Graphite Pro 110. Compared to the POG OS, the Graphite Pro 110 is just unstable on off-center shots, and feels light, less solid.

I've got a mint mag pro and a mint spectrum and a 1-stripe, all 90's. I'll try to post pix after work. Some of us are old enough to remember when Princes rep was far beyond any other brand....

How does Spectrum Comp play?

I am still waiting for a pair of Graphite Comps I won on the bay.
Decided to get after I read the reviews here that it is a less powerful and smaller headed (100sq'ish) version of POG OS. Plus it appears to have a very thin beam, also, people think it has great feel. So I look forward to hitting with it...asap lol

And here are few pics of my POGOSes for the fun of it.

actually i will put one pic for now lol it takes too long

Btw- when I was like 12, the only racquet I would see in hands of better players was Prince. My coach had a Prince Thunderstick. One of the top players had...it was a throat bridged mid size, but I do not think it was POG mid but a graphite II mid or something. It was awesome to watch those older players at younger age :)

One day I saw an ad for a "Prince Vortex" in a mag. The ad was talking about some BS that it was perfect or would make you a better player or some kind of gimmick like that. But I believed in it (of course:) It had some zigzag patterned holes on it or something like that...I wanted that racq. so much, but my parents didnt buy it. Though on a birthday, I rec'ved a Wilson Hammer :)

Back When Momma Plasma was alive she bought me that stick from...TW. This was before the internet (maybe it was *********???) Does anyone have that VHS? It shows the space age material that the vortex was made with.
A street guy who sells tennis racquets traded me a 150g and a mint spectrum for the vortex and some cash. I guess there's a stereotype of Jews being stingy but my parents sure weren't. My Mom used to tell me that she wasn't rich, now that she's dead I know what she meant.
She meant that she busted her *** to get me that damn racquet.
I love you, Mom, todah!

Prince Pro Mag 90

I've got a mint mag pro and a mint spectrum and a 1-stripe, all 90's. I'll try to post pix after work. Some of us are old enough to remember when Princes rep was far beyond any other brand....

I have had a chance to play with mine a few times now and love it.
I am beginning to wonder if metal makes the best racquet after all?

Great pics, gonzaloc, tandayu and ipity. :)

I have a bunch of Princes. At least one each of:

1 stripe Graphite 110 (with bumper)
4 stripe Graphite 110 and 90
Graphite Pro 110 and 90
Spectrum Comp 110 and 90
Graphite Comp 110 and 90
Mag Pro 110
Pro 110

And several CTS racquets.

If I recall correctly, the Vortex was supposed to become stiffer with fast swings and more flexible on slow swings...or maybe it was the other way around. Anyway, I'm sure it was a gimmick that didn't really work.

I love the way the spectrum comp 90 feels. what other racquets are similar? i almost blindly bought an old prince response 90.

I've owned all editions of the pog os. but sold some of the older ones since i didn't really like the way they hit compared to the 4 strip and newer.

i have a spectrum comp 90 on the way

Most Things

What do you like about the Mag Pro 90?

It has an open string pattern 14x18 which i love but, was unaware it had.
The sweet spot is great and i feel that there is not a shot i cant hit with it.
I feel it gives as good a feel as any graphite racquet i have used
I guess i have a metal Rossignol that i like as well.
It has a certain appeal to have a metal racquet when everybody is chasing the lastest greatest.
WHATS YOUR OPINION ON THE 90 and,110?

Hi, does anyone have the specifications for the POG 4 Stripe MidPlus Model Racket? I want to compare the specs with my other rackets to figure out what type of racket I prefer.

Head size:
Weight:
Balance:
Flex Rating:
String Pattern:
Construction:

Thanks guys.

I got this racket because a nemesis turned freind used to beat the pants off me weilding this stick back in high school..at the time i was playing with a CTS Prince Approach 90. way too powerful for me and would blast balls long w/ it....If i had only known what i know now i would have played with this or something similiar ....the problem with the response 90 is that it had a horrible paint job IMO..burgundy/brown yuck......some love it but i hated it...so thusly the blacked out paint job!:)

you remember correctly:)
actually it did work that way as I recall, but it made it weird and unreliable to play with. I played it for a short period but never got used to the "funny" feeling..

Wow... That thing is in beautiful condition. Even the case–possibly my favorite racquet cover ever, but not many of them look good after a quarter-century–looks pristine.

The Graphite Comp 110, simply the "Prince Comp" when I got mine in 1983, was my first graphite racquet, the last racquet I paid retail for (and gladly, even when my grandfather complained that I was "p**sing [my] money away"), and the long-lost love of my youth.

Prince Woodies

Greetings and nice collection. I am looking for Prince Woodies for an all wooden tournament coming up in Paducah. Do you have any you would part with? Thakx for your time Jaq

Graphite Comp 110

^^

I have a Graphite Comp 110 the same color as that.

My primary racquet right now. Strung with Polylon Ice 16 @ 55lb.

Nice looking Boron OS. Just curious - how often do you play with your "just for fun & collection" racquets?

Thanks.
I use those racquets for a couple of time per season. Just for fun as I said, usually when I play with much worse opponent...

Was going to pick up the newspaper today in the morning and found one of these on my neighbors Trash Can. It's been snowing here in Atlanta so the Garbage guy's hadn't hauled it away (around 10AM). Knocked on their door and asked if I could have it.

No grommets at all. Not sure if this is a Graphite pro or the "Original Graphite". Going to see if I can find some indoor courts and hit around :)

EDIT: Pah, it's slightly warped at the top! Still playable I hope. It SHOULDN'T explode when I hit the ball :).

I have five POG OS. All of them are single green stripe. Four with the head guard, and one grommetless. Classics!!! I still hit with one in my rotation. Thanks.

Pretty easy for those to go 'out of round'...especially with the high tensions recommended back then. Didn't help that bazillions of them were strung on two-point support machines(Ektelon, Seranno, Prince, et al).
