Rebel 98 strung with Tonic+ at 53 lbs. Backup (rain) racket is strung with 16g Beast Attack at 53lbs. IMO the Rebel 98 beats the Tours in every category. A low-powered, stable, plush tweener! Who could ask for more?

I was looking to pick these up but can't seem to find a good deal on them. Even though a big part of me says I should get alot better before I even think about a new racket. But a rebel tweener sounds so sweet.

Anyone try to stick the '12 model gromments in the old 95 yet? I would love to know if they fit. I would experiment if I had a tad more cash lol.

^^^I know what you mean. I remember when I was younger I used to need at least 3 racquets done. I broke strings all the time, but it seems now 2-3 weeks on a multi works. IT is frayed to hell but it is still playable.

I also like experimenting, it just hate the balancing and matching. Right now my setup is:

SW: 306
W: 343 g
Balance: 29.8 cm.

Arthuro, how did you get such a low swing weight? The rebel 98 should have a SW of around 320 stock. And I was under the impression that SW couldn't be lowered from stock. Was your's exceptionally light, or HL, to begin with? With a weight of 343g, it must all be in the handle.

Picked up the last 2 Rebel 98s in my grip size at my local shop yesterday. Looking forward to playing with them after demoing about a dozen other sticks.

You'll like them. Nothing to dislike. I traded mine in when I was on one of my racketholic binges, but regret it. It's a great all around mix of a lightweight players racquet, or players tweener, that does everything well. The flex is a little different in that at times it feels stiff, and at times flexible. But as long as you hit it in the center it is comfortable and solid.

Well once I figure out which grommets are for the old one and which are for the new one i'm going to purchase a few sets for my rebels. To see if the same set up has any difference in feel. Maybe even a half thermo carbon half port hole hybrid lol. Nah probably not, but I'll see.

Got another rebel for 35$ today. Unfortunately for my wallet I couldn't resist haha.

Yeah, it is all in the handle, and that is the weight unstrung with a leather grip. When you add string you are looking at 20 grams or so of weight, so it will definitely change the specs I presented above.

So I just ordered a set of the 2012 grommets and they fit in like a charm. Larger string holes in the ports and a more rigid material. I wonder if the feel is any diffferent.... We will see.

Also... They look so sexy haha. Makes me want to paint my racket all black and have the shiny thermo carbon all fancy like.

I like the ports. I hate stringing them, but they are very plush and add quite a bit of power in my view.

The strings give me a more old school feel which I like.

Hmm, interesting. I'd love to try a Rebel with "quite a bit" more power. Though in my string ventures, even stringing 4lbs lower is too powerful for me. lol. I need to do a tad more experimenting.

The ports loosen up the string bed. You really feel it. Maybe we should do a video review of the ports vs. strings.

I might do one ports vs string holes vs (2012) string holes.

Then again, I don't think i'm good enough to warrant a review anymore. I'm working on fitness and seeing the ball now.

Just got my new (used) rebel 95 strung with Technifbre X-1 biphase 17. Never used this string before. Got it strung at 54lbs, but now I'm a bit worried that these strings are gonna be a bit too lively for tension that low. What do people string their Rebel 95s with? I tried one with full set of Prince Poly EXP 18 strung at 54 and didn't feel very comfy. Maybe a hybrid next time?
Just so you know, I have full western forehand, single handed backhand. Long strokes. Volley a lot. Occasional serve and volley. Also like to mix it up with sliced backhands and the odd chip and charge or drop shot.

54 is okay for 17 g. I string mine at 56.5 or 58 if its super hot out.

It depends. If I am just hitting around for fun with students or recreational players, then I will either do a full bed of TF X-1 Biphase at 56.5.

If it is competitive tennis, I will string up a hybrid TR X-1 Biphase18g at 56.5, with a TR Blackcode 18g at 51.5 or lux ace 18g at 50.

I just depends on what I am trying to do that day. But the Biphase/Blackcode is the most comfortable set-up. But its hard to miss with the lux ace in there.

I am looking to try a beast XP 17g cross next with X-1.

What string do you use Arthuro and Sans?

I'm still messing around with strings. I've tried quite a few setups from hybrids to beds of poly, multi, copolys, and synthetics.

For now my two go to strings are forten sweet 17 and Big Hitter Blue Rough(BHBR) 17. BHBR has really nice feel and pop, but if you hit big or with a ton of spin it will die or snap fast. Gives me a good 4-8 hours since I hit pretty flat and easy most of the time.

Forten sweet is nice and powerful for me. Really soft but for some reason doesn't feel mushy to me like most strings do in my rebels. I really want to try black magic next, but I just bought 2012 grommets and put them into my third rebel and strung it with forten sweet at 60. A thorough review will be done on a few set ups i've played. I've just been too lazy to copy and paste them from my external hard drive lol.

Soon I will also be doing a review on the difference between grommets, but it will really be hard to tell the difference without stringing all three of my rackets with the same string and tension and doing a thorough test.

I'll link my string thread here once I update it.

BHBR is really comfy by itself, but thats a really subjective statement, so I really recommend bhbr in a hybrid. You still have a ton of feel, pop, and depending on the cross, a really good amount of comfort. I played BHBR17@56/OGSM17@52. Great setup. I personally would have strung it higher, but I'm kind of afraid of killing polys while stringing any higher.

Many people say to not string poly over 56.

Hi Sansa. I just ordered a reel of BHBR 17g for my Rebel 95s. Going to cross it with Klip Kicker 17g. Will start off with the same tension you use. I'll probably reverse the tension though. Ie, string the poly at 52 and the synth gut at 56. Will let you know what I think!

Tried out the full bed x-1 Biphase 17g, strung at 54lbs.
To be honest, I was a little disappointed. I usually string RIP control at about 58, so I was expecting this to be super comfy. It wasn't bad or anything, and was a little more comfy than RIP, but didn't make me go "wow, I have to get this." Played three sets of competition dubs.
I played about the same standard as always. I didn't seem to lose much control by going down 4lbs, which is a good sign because I'd like to start stringing lower. Strings were already a little notched by the end of the night. To be expected though. Anyway, just an update.

Comments on 2011vs.2012 Rebel 95 & string

I have some 11 & 12 95 Rebels and have been changing between them. I thought I'd share some of my findings.

I prefer the 11 for almost everything except touch volleys and return of serve. The 12 is easier to blunt serve returns from the corner of the service box and is easier for me to hit drop volley winners and tight angles at net. I think this is in line with their pitch for improved mobility.

For serves and groundstrokes I'll take the 11 model.

I have also found the racquets to be very string sensitive. I like Wilson NXT Tour at about sixty lbs, works out to about 46 lbs via racquet tune once broken in. Way more spin and power even at ten lbs. higher tension then a Prince Beast hybrid setup. My groundstrokes kick higher and my second serve is night and day with the NXT, it really let's me swing out getting depth with the confidence the spin will keep it in.

Of course everyone has different strokes but For me this works. I plan to keep playing with some lead, strings and tensions and grip size.

Thanks for the update on your Rebel. I haven't found them to be too string sensitive. I am now playing with holes, not the ports, but have tried several setups that have pretty much not effected the overall playability of the frame. Its soft enough that your body doesn't suffer for poly, but I rather multi's to be honest.

Is anyone still playing with this frame. I personally think it is the best Prince has had in a while...even better than the Monfils version in 2009/2010.

Just curious.

I find 2009 version better than 2012 so I have:

4x Rebel 95 (2009-2011) all with port holes (black ports from rebel teams)
2x Rebel 95 Team (with yellow string holes)

Great sticks! Cant wait tro try RPM Blast 18G in it...

Nice...Here is my collection of sticks.

I have 4 more Prince Monfils Exo3 Rebels in 4 5/8, but I recently had to go down to a 4 1/2 grip. Glad to know people still play with them.

Well Im a little "crazy into Prince O port stuff" so I also have 2 Rebels 98, 2 Rebels 105, One pro stock Ignite team with Rebel paintjob, 3 O3 Hybrid Tours, 1 Ignite, 2 Graphite 100s, 2 Graphite 93s, one speedport tour, EXO tour 18x20 and 16x18 and some others :-) I know it sounds silly but I could imagine having also speedport pro white in my modest collection

I've been playing with a 2012 Rebel 95 for about a year now. Love it. I demoed many others and I couldn't find anything I liked better. I'm considering buying a second and experimenting with different strings. So far, I've only put full multi in the Rebel 95 (Wilson NXT 17 and Prince Premier LT 18 - I preferred the Prince Premier LT). I'm considering a full bed of natural gut and experimenting with a poly/gut hybrid.

Returning to my beloved sticks!!

I have two rebel 95 2009s versions that I have but have been experimenting with the Yonex Rdis 200 leaded up. I was trying to get additional spin and forgiveness from the more open string pattern and larger head. I can safely say I will not be exploring further with this racket. I did get more power and spin but at the cost of accuracy and precision. With better footwork you can get the same spin with the added control when using the Rebel. I want to get the latest edition and from indications here, it plays not too dissimilar. I have fallen in love with my Rebels, again....

is there an exo3 rebel 95 extended? If anyone has extended, could you tell me how to do it and make it solid? I'm holding it off the bottom on serves and I tried putting little pieces of wood under the butt cap but eventually it would wiggle loose and not be stable.
