Prince Experimental

Hi, I am using the Prince Experimental OS racket. I was wondering if there are any differences in the Prince Experimental OS racket versus the NXG OS version that was out on the market last year? Thanks for any feedback.

If you can, please list the specs of the Experimental racquet. I'm interested, but I have never seen one. I'm currently using a customized NXG OS.

All Black

Hi - I've actually seen this racket used by Guillermo Coria and David Ferrer a while back before the NXG came out. It was part of an experiment that Prince was doing to test out rackets. This racket is all black with the words "Prince Experimental" on the neck. Other than that, there's no specs or anything. It looks exactly like the NXG OS. I even compared the two and the only difference I see the color. They feel the same weight, but when I hit with the Experimental at the same tension versus the NXG, it's completely different and I don't know why. I am wondering if this racket is what the pros use and what they actually sell is not? Thanks.

The experimental is any Prince racquet painted black, or for pros, their original racquet painted black

By the way, Prince also made a batch of "Experimental" frames that were actually the Triple Threat Graphite before it came out. If your experimental has a single cross beam then it would be the TT Graphite instead of the NXG. If it has the cross beam that is slightly curved and actually two separate beams, then it would be the NXG. The difference in feel could be from a number of different reasons though.

I've both experimental NXG and retail NXG, and i can tell you the experimental NXG plays a lot hollower than the retail version... n it's lighter, significantly
mine is a MP, not sure if it'd be different in an OS

In the case of Guillermo Coria and Juan Carlos Ferrero, the experimental was just an all-black paintjob of their customized POG LBs.

Prince NXG Graphite Experimental OS vs. Prince NXG Graphite OS

Hi, all. I have three of these Prince NXG Graphite Experimentals and I love them as well. They are definately different than the regular Prince NXG Graphites OS there were for sale. They seem lighter or their weight distribution is different than the normal ones. Cosmetically they are very easy to damage as well. I definately suggest head tape. They are painted a glossy jet black versus the matte green and silver of the NXG production line.

These are obviously not the same as the "Experimentals" that Guillermo Coria or Juan Carlos Ferrero were using in the past. Although this racquet seems too light to be the "pro" version of the racquet I did notice back then that Paola Suarez was using it. It looked like the actual Experimental version of the NXG Graphite if you look at pictures back then. (You can tell by the butt cap and curved cross stabilizer bar). Enjoy!

Could you give us a weight and balance measurement of your Experimental NXG? A trip to the post office will give you the scale.

I've got a pair of NXG MP Experimental's myself. Although the odd thing about it is that they both play so differently from one another. I got them through a teaching pro who knows a local Prince rep.
Now I use the the O3 Tour Mid

Isn't there an "Experimental" version that precedes most Prince lines? Capriati played with an all-black Diablo with the word "Experimental" in white, just before the Tour Diablo hit the market.

I recently bought an Experimental OS for $55 on ****. Clean racquet. Shown with orig syn gut from seller, since restrung with Gamma Professional 18 at 60# for elasticity, dropping 5# since and playing much better.

With one layer head protection tape, the OS weighed 11.8 oz, about 0.5 oz lighter than my NXG Graphite MP 100's. 4.5 pts Head Light with the head tape. I like the racquet so far!
