Prince Grip Size vs Wilson & Yonex

I have found the Prince grip sizes to run smaller when compared to Wilson and Yonex grip size 3. Was thinking about biting the bullet with grip size 4, anyone who users Prince grip size 4, is it similar in size with Wilson or Yonex grip size 3?

Have searched, however most threads on the subject are quote old now. Was hoping for some recent comparisons, especially with the Phantom series from Prince.

In my experience Yonex and Babolat grips feel about a size larger than spec to me. Wilson and Prince feel more true to size in my opinion. I’ve been playing a lot with the Prince Phantoms lately, grip size 3, and it’s very comfortable. I would normally use a size 3 in Babolat and usually a 4 in Head.

I own both your new dr100 and prince tetrle warrior : Yonex feels one size larger. I got T2 Yonex to get the same size as T3 Prince.

I generally play Prince. Wilson grips seem to be similar. Yonex are maybe half a size bigger? Babolats seem a full size large to me.

I would get the Phantom in a 4, and if it is a hair big you can swap out the grip for a ResiThin or Skin Feel. If you do decide to go with the Phantom in a 3 you can swap out the ResiPro grip to a DuraPro or Gamma HiTech that are a bit firmer and slightly thicker. If you use overgrips you can change them out for a thicker/thinner one to dial it in as well.

Very useful thread at:

Did you replace the replacement grip? Besides that I have two apd in gripsize 3. One of them runs much bigger than the other apd. I measured the bare handle with tape so it is quite clear. If you want them to be equal you should get a racket with pallets.

Prince and wilson are true grip size for me, while Babolat and yonex run either a 1/2 size or full grip size larger. I used L3 (3/8) on my wilsons before, I went with the same grip size as I made the switch to the TT95.

I had the TT95 in grip size 3 and it felt smaller to me when compared to Wilson.I usually play with leather and over grip. Had fairway leather on the TT95's, have an Ultra Tour now in grip size 3 with the same setup, and it feels larger than what I remember with the TT95. Must be the rounder profile of the Prince grip and the way it fits in my hand that give me this impression, as other have stated. I agree that Yonex is a half size bigger than than Wilson.

If i had the luxury of getting a custom handle mold, I would get the current profile on my Ultra Tour and use that as the base for the mold.

As I play with a leather base grip, I think i will use a Kimony Techni leather if grip size 4 is to large. The Kimony techni leather is 0.8mm think, so should get it back to about a grip size 3. I don't like building a grip with over-grips as the feel becomes to mushy.

Thanks all for the feedback.

There is also a 1.1mm leather grip available directly from China. Looks like it may be the same manufacturer as TW gets theirs from. They are more expensive than a TW grip, but probably worth it if is the right size. I hear the Kimony is pretty short

Sounds interesting, where can I find the 1.1mm leather grip?
