Racquet brand and model used for test
Prince Exo Tour 100, 16x18

Power of test string
This string had good power but like most 17g multis, it had a little bit too much power for my game.

Feel
The string is appropriately named. Touch shots were a breeze with this string. I think it has better Touch than any other multifilament string in recent memory.

Spin
I thought it had average spin for a multi.

Comfort
Easily one of the most comfortable multis I've ever hit with. I'd definitely recommend it to those suffering from arm injuries.

Durability
I have about 5 sets of singles and 5 sets of doubles on the string and it is still hanging in there. My guess is I could probably get another 2 or 3 sets of singles before breaking it. Excellent durability for a thin gauge string in an open pattern.

Playability Duration (share thoughts on if/how the playability changed over time)
I didn't notice much change in playability over the course of the play test.

Control (predictable trajectory? performance on different strokes and swing speeds?)
This is the one weakness of the string in my opinion. I hit way too many balls beyond the baseline with this setup. So I was definitely lacking confidence on longer strokes where I was trying to put balls away. It is too bad I did not get to try the 16g because I suspect like most multis, that would have had better control and made the string really shine.

Compare to the string you use most often
More power, feel and comfort at the expense of less control and less spin.

Tension recommendations (after hitting it, would you recommend a different tension? Why?)
For me, I probably need to string 17g multi a little bit higher. Perhaps a tension closer to 65# would have been better for my game.

Thanks TW for including me in the play test. Prince has really come back from a bad financial spot with quite a few new high quality offerings in strings and rackets. Go Prince!

A review that has been long overdue for at least a week lol.

For the play test I recieved Prince Premier Touch 15G (thicker than I'm used to) in Clear.

Tension used for playtest I strung the string at 62lbs.

Regular string set up My regular string set up is Volkl Cylone at 16g at 62.

Racquet brand and model used for test Gamma Rzr 98

Power of test string The power of this string is what I feel to be just right. Not the most powerful but not the weakest, a great balance. It the provided power I needed when it was called for, but I did not blast as many balls out of the court like I do with powerful strings.

Feel This is where the string definitely gets its name. Touch. Definitely gives you the touch on volleys and slices. You feel connected to the ball at all times and gives you a confidence boost on a good day. The strongest point in this string.

Spin The spin from this string is pretty average. Much less than textured strings that increase the spin potential but still gives you some spin to work with.

Comfort A very comfortable string in my opinion. Definitely added to the feel of the string.

Durability Started to notice fraying after a couple of days. Lasted for a week and a half maybe until I popped it on a frame shot. (I play atleast an hour a day on weekdays)

Playability Duration Played the same throughout most of my playthrough until the days of its demise. Tension went down considerably and was definitely not the string it was before the last few days.

Control It was very great to control on touch shots and serves. Groundstrokes were pretty decent as I negated its power somewhat by upping the tension. Until the last few days where the power shot up and it was harder to control on all points.

Compare to the string you use most often The string is pretty good compared to Cyclone but its spin potential is way lower due to its lack of texturing and it Touch's power is higher than Cylone's. The feel of this string blows Cyclone's out of the water.

Tension recommendations (after hitting it, would you recommend a different tension? Why?) Great at the 60's. Wouldn't change it as I don't want to increase the power, but I might want to increase it.

I believe I forgot to say this in the last playtest but, a huge thank you to Tennis-Warehouse and Prince for making this test possible!

Gauge 16

Color Clear looks like a nice mono fishing line 10/10 for cool

Tension used for playtest 55lbs

Regular string set up Discho Multi fibre 55lbs and sometimes Solinco TBsoft 48lbs

Racquet brand and model used for test Prince exo3 tour 18x20

Power of test string 8/10 good power more power than the PPA

Feel 7/10 compared to the discho a little less feel but better feel than PPA

Spin8/10 good for a Multi proably a little better than discho really nice freshly strung then lost a little spin after playing as with all multis

Comfort 9/10 no issues

Durability 7/10 Should play fine I fear that if there is a shank the string may break similar to PPA other multis that are stranded more seem to do better on shanks but fray alot more

Playability Duration (share thoughts on if/how the playability changed over time) 9/10 So far about 10hrs only lost a little performance but on par with the top Multis

Control (predictable trajectory? performance on different strokes and swing speeds?)7/10 I felt a little lack of control due to the extra power however, as long as I moved thru the ball the string performed. I think with more time playing I the control would come just a little diffrent feel then I am used to as with any switch of strings

Compare to the string you use most often: Felt a little dead and not as lively as the discho however it had a little extra power. Similar to PPA but with more power and softer feel

Tension recommendations (after hitting it, would you recommend a different tension? Why?) I would stay at 55 and just get used to playing the strings

Power of test string
A lot more power than I’m used to with poly strings. Actually, a bit too much power, as I was afraid to take a full swing on a lot of ground strokes. It’s easy to sail shots long with a lively string like this. Probably a good bit of power for players with medium-to-low swing speed, though.

Feel
Really shines at the net for volleys and drop shots. I’ve gotten used to crisp-feeling polys over the past few years, but this string reminded me how nice it feels to have a string with a little more give at the net. I don’t play much doubles, but if I fall into that as I get older, a string like this would probably be more appropriate for doubles play.

Spin
The string falls down a bit for me here. Since it is more powerful than my regular poly strings, I need topspin to keep the ball in, but the spin was just average on full swings from the baseline. That’s the poly advantage – dead strings allow faster swing speed and thus more spin. The power and less spin potential of these strings made me more tentative on groundstrokes. But that’s not necessarily a knock on this particular string, but on multifilament strings in general, compared to poly.

Comfort
Very nice. No jarring at all on hard hits, and no shoulder pain from about 8 hours of hitting with this string. I could definitely see moving to this as I get older and less tolerant of stiff polys for my aching shoulder.

Durability
I popped the string on an overhead after about 8 hours of play. It was moving around a bit, but it still felt pretty good right until the time it broke. I had the thinner gauge, and playing in an open pattern racquet with my spin-oriented strokes, that’s probably not a good fit for longevity. If I were buying these strings, I’d probably get the 16 gauge to get a bit more life out of them before breaking.

Playability Duration (share thoughts on if/how the playability changed over time)
Not much change at all for the whole time I used this string. If you have decent swing speed, you can probably just play this one until it snaps.

Control (predictable trajectory? performance on different strokes and swing speeds?)
Very predictable on volleys, touch shots and medium-swing shots. Less predictable on flat-out topspin groundstrokes from the baseline, as I couldn’t get the spin to keep my shots falling in.

Compare to the string you use most often
The Premier Touch is more powerful that the Cyber Flash/OGSM hybrid, but not necessarily in a good way, as the deader poly strings let me swing faster and get more topspin. The Premier Touch has a nicer feel on softer shots and volleys, and more arm comfort. The Cyber Flash holds up a bit longer in play, and I usually cut it out around 15 hours, where the Premier Touch broke after 8.

Tension recommendations (after hitting it, would you recommend a different tension? Why?)
The 60 pounds I used was a 5 pound increase over my regular poly tension, which seemed about right to me.

Thanks to TW and Prince for the opportunity to try out this new string.

Prince Premier Power 16G Play Test

Which Prince multi did you receive: Prince Premier Power
Gauge: 16G

Color: Natural

Tension used for playtest: 59 lbs

Regular string set up: Solinco Tourbite 16G @ 52 lbs

Racquet brand and model used for test: Babolat Pure Drive Team +

Power of test string: I have limited hitting experience with multis. I am actually surprised that this soft multi string plays more powerful than most of the polys I used before. I don’t have to swing very fast to get the ball deep to the baseline. This kind of “effortless” and “easy” power helps me hit my ground strokes for a couple of hours without feeling any fatigue in my upper body at all. I normally can only last about 90 minutes using a poly string hitting with the same partner at the same intensity level.

Feel: This string definitely feels very soft no matter how hard I hit the ball. Almost 0 vibration felt through my wrist, arm and shoulder. The “plush” feel is night and day compared to the “ping” of poly.

Spin: No problem to generate normal top spin. But it’s not like with stiff poly strings that you can brush the ball like crazy to hit heavy top spin shots bouncing above your opponents head. Also the second kick serves don’t bounce as high as you would hit with a poly. It definitely suits more to flat hitters using an eastern grip.

Comfort: Very comfortable hitting all kinds of shots – top spin, flatten out, slice, volley and service. However second serve could be weaker than expected, unless one doesn’t take off in his/her second serve.

Durability: Probably similar to most other multis in the field.
Playability Duration: Of course the string moves almost since the first shot. The playability and tension maintained pretty well for about 15 hours of normal play. But this depends on the level of play (club 3.0 to 5.0, college players, junior players and etc.) as always.

Control: This is the “control” oriented string for sure. Perfect for “touch” kind of players to use the width (change direction) and depth (slice & dropper) of the court moving the opponent around.

Compare to the string you use most often: Most of the junior, college and pro players will still trust their polys, which are more suited to today’s heavy hitting baseline game. Players with this playing style are afraid that using multis in a full bed will make their shots too nice to be punished by their opponents using full polys.

Tension recommendations: 59 to 60 lbs should be perfect for any racquet.

Regular string set up:
Dunlop Hexy Fibre 17G 60lbs
Racquet brand and model used for test:
Hyper Pro Staff 6.1 95 [16x18]
Power of test string:
Above average. Like many others, there was definitely an adjustment period to get used to how much power I was getting. I was hitting a good number of them long during my warmup, but got dialed in afterwards. Not sure how much the pre-stretch made a difference.
Feel:
Very lively stringbed. Muted/dampened feel but it did not feel mushy. I got some nice volleys and a few nice dropshots after getting used to the string. I don’t approach the net that often, but it didn’t negatively affect my game.
Spin:
Average Spin. I feel that the thinner gauge aided in biting the ball well to get some decent spin. Not as much as I am used to though.
Comfort:
No discomfort whatsoever from playing with the string. I’ve never had any comfort issues with multi strings and the same goes for this one. The string felt pretty firm which is probably influenced from pre-stretching it, but it didn’t cause any discomfort.
Durability:
I’m not regularly a string breaker, but there is some notching. There is definitely a fair amount of string movement since my first session which is not too surprising.
Playability Duration (share thoughts on if/how the playability changed over time):
I felt that I got a bit more control after my first session with the string. The playability has not changed that much over time. The fact that I had more time to adjust to the string played a factor in that.
Control:
Average control. After adjusting, I had pretty good directional control and the hit the balls deep in the court. I still hit some balls long though. I also got some good volleys and drop shots.
Compare to the string you use most often:
Compared to the Dunlop Hexy Fibre I use, I feel that while spin potential is lower, there is more power. Both strings are quite comfortable. I feel I get some more control and better response with the Dunlop hexy fibre which may partly because I’ve used my usual string for a longer period of time.
Tension recommendations (after hitting it, would you recommend a different tension? Why?):
I think 58-60 is just right for my game. I don’t think going much higher would change how the string plays by that much.
Final Thoughts:
This was a really fun playtest and a good chance to try a brand new string. First time using an 18 gauge string as well. I’ve had a chance to try another other Prince multi string (Prince Premier Control) that were the crosses with poly (not sure which poly) mains in a hybrid string setup in a Prince Classic Graphite Oversize I demo’d. I believe premier power would also work well in hybrid setups with a lower powered string to get a bit more spin and tone down the power a little bit. I’d also like to see how the string performs in a full bed with a lower power racket or one with a denser string pattern.

Thank you TW for the opportunity to participate in this playtest!

Regular string set up

Wilson Enduro Tour 17—54 mains 52 crosses

Racquet brand and model used for test

Power of test string

This string’s power level is about average compared to other multifilament strings. I generally like low powered multifilaments or co-polys at a thinner gauge around 17 or 18.

Feel

It does not have as much feel as other synthetic gut strings. Short angle volleys, drop volleys, and drop shots are difficult to control, as the ball tends to travel further than I would like. The best way to control them with this string is to hit the ball high than normal to make up for the extra distance.

Spin

While it can surprisingly generate a decent amount of spin, I would prefer this string to have more spin to help control the power.

Comfort

This string is very comfortable to play with. I have not experienced any arm or shoulder pain.

Durability

I am not sure about the durability because I do not break strings on a regular basis. So far I do not see any signs of notching.

Playability Duration (share thoughts on if/how the playability changed over time)

The playability of the string did not have a dramatic change since the racquet was strung.

Control (predictable trajectory? performance on different strokes and swing speeds?)

The control is very good on the groundstrokes. It is very easy for me to place the ball where I want it but it is difficult for me to vary the height or the amount spin of the ball.

Volleys are not as crisp and require more effort to put away than most strings I have played with such as Rip Control and Alpha Gut 2000.

I appreciate how much power I can generate on my serves and return. The quality of placement from this string is very good, however the spin is lacking on these strokes as well. While I can serve wide in the deuce and ad-court, the ball does not curve as much away from the court.

Compare to the string you use most often

This string is more powerful than the Wilson Enduro Tour string and is more difficult to generate as much spin with the same swing path. I can hit sharp angles on the forehand and backhand side with the Enduro Tour to open up the court.

Tension recommendations (after hitting it, would you recommend a different tension? Why?)

I would not recommend changing the tension because the control-power ratio is ideal for me. String has enough control for me already. If I increase the tension, I would get less power from the string and less spin. If I decrease the tension, I would lose the control I have and gain too much power.

Good String

String: Prince Premier Control
Gauge: 15L
Color: Black
Tension: 57
Regular string set up: Goshen OG Micro 17
Racquet brand and model: Babolat Pure Drive Plus
Power:Had a little bit of plus in power on ground strokes but felt a little slower on the serves.
Feel: Not as much fell as OG Micro kind of dull feeling.
Spin: Had a lot of spin like a lot. This is the main reason why I think someone would want this string.
Comfort: Very comfortable.
Durability: Noticed some notching in the mains which is normal for me but didn't break but the strings started to move after an hour.
Playability Duration: Didn't notice much of difference ground strokes went a little longer but that's to be expected.
Control: Volleys; were really bad, Serves; were amazing because of the spin, Ground strokes; went deeper than usual.
Compare to the string you use most often: It was more powerful and more spin and i even felt like i had more control. But the OG i think i can get more power on the serves and better volleys.
Tension recommendations: Maybe i would suggest 55 instead of 57 because i think it got a little more comfortable after 1hr and that's when it was the best.
I'd be willing to pay around $7.50 for this string to make it my everyday string but I've seen priced somewhere else at $10 which is a little overpriced in my opinion.

Prince String Review (11 hours in, mostly doubles)

String used: Prince Premier Touch 16 - Clear
Tension used for playtest: 58lbs
Regular string set up: Pro’s Pro Gold Power 17g/Dunlop Hexy Fiber 16 @ 45lbs in Summer, full bed Hexy Fiber@ 55lbs in Winter
Racquet brand and model used for test: Prince Ozone Tour Mid Plus 16x18
Power of test string: From looking at the new string lineup, it looked like this would be a powerful multi. However I was pleasantly surprised that this string was not too powerful. I had to adjust a bit from my normal poly hybrid, but not as much as I was expecting.
Feel: The multi’s I am most familiar with are Head Rip Control, Dunlop Hexy Fiber, and Discho Microfibre. Premier Touch had a better feel than all of them. Touch shots were outstanding. I felt super confident going for short angle groundies. Lobs were easier to place.
Spin: Pretty danged good for a multi. Maybe a fraction less than Rip Control. Better than most other multis.
Comfort: No issues at 11 hours.
Durability: At 6 hours it looks pretty good. At 8 hours there is some fraying and slight notching. I expected far worse. At 11 hours we have more serious fraying, I dont expect it to last much longer. I usually get 8-9 hours out of full bed Rip Control for comparison.
Playability Duration (share thoughts on if/how the playability changed over time): In the first 6 hours playability has been very consistent. Very little string movement or notching. Strings started to move around 8 hours.
Control (predictable trajectory? performance on different strokes and swing speeds?): Very predictable. The one shot where things got inconsistent was serve return of hard 1st serves.
Compare to the string you use most often: Less spin than my current poly hybrid, but more feel and overall control. The one area where I did not feel I had the control I was looking for was 1st serve return or any return of extremely heavy balls.
Tension recommendations (after hitting it, would you recommend a different tension? Why?): 58 seemed great.

Overall: Great touch string, better than expected spin. Very good durability for a premium multi.

Other Notes: Stringing was unpleasant for a multi. And, wow, super ghosting. I was expecting this a bit due to it being a clear mulit… but wow. Any shop that has a customer that is picky about looks should warn them about this before recommending. Also, the string while not slick, it is far from sticky like some multis can get. I would really like to try it as a cross in a poly hybrid.

String Used: Prince Premier Control 17g Natural

String tension: 55/53 lbs on my Klippermate

Regular string setup: Wilson Sensation 17 at 55/53

Racquet: Babolat Aero Storm GT

Power of test string: Small increase in power over Sensation. Power seems about the same as Prince Premier Attack.

Feel: This string offers more feedback than Sensation, but less than X-One or NXT.

Spin: Good spin, similar to some of the cheaper, round first generation polys like Isospeed Baseline. Spin was much greater than my regular setup.

Comfort: Good and maybe slightly better than my regular setup. Some of the higher end multis from Techniifiber or Babolat offer a little more comfort.

Durability: 8+ hours and starting to show some fraying. If I had to guess, I would say these strings will break at around the 16-20 hour mark for me. I usually get around 12-14 hours out of Sensation 17.

Playability Duration: Felt and hit best for around an hour and then seemed to drop tension a little bit. This string continues to play well, but needs to be straightened after every point.

Control (predictable trajectory? performance on different strokes and swing speeds?): The added spin of this string is an aid to control. Cross court angles are easier with this string and I find myself being able to swing-out more in rallies due to the added spin. Slices and drop shots stayed low and appeared to skid much more so than regular setup. Both kick and slice serves seemed to "move" more than usual.

Compare to the string you use most often: This string offers more spin, control, and comfort than my usual setup. Durability is much better too. I could easily see me switching to this string were Prince to offer it for retail sale. I have been tinkering with hybrid setups lately and would like to try this string in the crosses with Spiky Shark, Pro Line X, or Tour Bite mains.

Tension recommendations (after hitting it, would you recommend a different tension? Why?): Maybe up the tension 2 lbs to see hour the control changes and how comfort is impacted.

Prince Premier Touch 16 Review

Which Prince multi did you receive: Prince Premier Touch

Gauge: 16

Color: Clear

Tension for Playtest: 58 lbs

Regular string: Volkl Cyclone 17

Racquet: Head Radical MP

Power: Average to a bit below average for a multi. Being a multi I strung it a little higher than usual, however, in retrospect wish I had gone a few pounds less to get more pop.

Feel/Touch: I really liked the feel of this string. It provided decent touch and produced a somewhat muted feel on ground strokes.

Spin:
I felt the spin was average overall, but higher than average for a multi.

Comfort: I felt this string was extremely comfortable. Absolutely no issues with the comfort.

Durability: Looks to be very good so far, not much notching after initial outing. For a multi appears durability with be a strong point. Very unique string, although a multi appears to have some characteristics of a polyester, not much string movement.

Playability Duration: So far the tension maintenance looks to be very good, I'm used to more initial tension drop with multis. Appears this will be another strong point of the string.

Control: Control was great, didn't have any negative issues with control.

Compare to the string you use most often: Overall I prefer to play with polys, although this provided an interesting playtest. Less spin, better touch and feel than my usual setup, which I would expect. In the future, I may try to hybrid Premier Touch with a poly.

Tension recommendations: For this racquet I would lower the tension a few pounds, probably mid 50's.

Summary:
I thought the Prince Premier Touch was a unique string, not a typical multi. First impressions was that it looked like a polyester string. Visually, the clear color actually reminded me of Gosen Polyon Ice. I felt it had great feel and comfort with decent spin and durability. In addition, I think it would be great to hybrid with a poly.

First off thanks to TW for selecting me for the playtest.

Type received: I recieved the Prince Premeir Touch 15L which was a blue and clear twist.

Tension used: 57#

Regular string set up: Solinco Outlast or Tour Bite

Racquet used for playtest: Head Graphene Instinct MP

Power: this was average compared to other multis I have experimented and played with. I was expecting more from the intial feel, but I belive the thick gauge caused the big power difference from my usual 17g.

Feel, spin, and comfort: After I strung the racquet, bouncing balls on the ground I expected the strings to be really soft.......boy was I wrong. This thing felt like a wood board. Very strannge as the frame is quite flexy and multis usually complement it. Spin was average for a multi as the gauge did not allow as much movement ofn the ball. Control was pretty good as long as I was careful not to overhit due to the lack if spin. Nothing stands out about this string.

Durability: The string last me twice as long as my normal multi. Obviously due to the gauge.

Playability: Once again playability was not there as these were boardy and lacked any feel. The gauge is way to much for a full bed. Would have worked as a cross with some 17g poly.

Control: String had decent control like stated earlier as I could point and hit targets. No feel, and like a board.

Tension recommendations: Due to the th8ckness I would steing this multi in the low 50's.

Compared to my string: I was very disapointed in this playtest as these strings leave a ton to be desired. I see no use in these for players besides a durable cross in a hybrip set up.......but I could not try that. I would not buy these strings at all. Its hard to compare a mukti to a poly, but the only comparison was these were boardy, like a poly, but without any of the poly benifits.

Thanks again, but ill pass on these.

String Prince Premier Control

Gauge 17

Color Natural

Tension 52M/50C (Electronic Constant Pull)

Regular Set Up Polyfibre Black Venom Rough 52/50

Racquet Used Pacific X-Force Pro

Power I thought the string was pretty much in the middle when it comes to power for a nylon string. Not as lively as the power oriented multis but more powerful than solid core synthetic gut. In no way was it underpowered.

Feel No complaints in the feel department. Touch shots came easily. Feel was that of a crisp multi.

Spin Spin was what I typically see from solid core nylon or most multis. I could get decent bite on the ball, but it did not deliver poly-like spin and none of the sharp, last moment dips.

Comfort Although the string had a firm quality to it, it still delivered on the comfort score. I had no issues with my tender old wrist and hand using this string. Not plush, but plenty comfortable.

Durability I have only put about 8 hours on it and it is holding up well. I would expect this string to be durable multi based on my experience with it.

Playability Like any string, this was firmer feeling when fresh, but it played very consistently during my time using it. Initial tension loss was minimal (<8% overnight after stringing) and no big loss after 8 hours of hitting. It played pretty much the same following initial break-in. I thought it was quite good in this respect.

Control Control was consistent for me throughout my play. No major difference from beginning to end. Also consistent with all type of shots and swing speeds. Obviously, "control" is a relative term -- it would not be fair to compare the string to a control oriented poly -- but not bad at all in absolute terms. No trouble at all in placing the ball where I wanted -- completely predictable response while hitting out. The string's feel contributed to well controlled touch shots. It is not a string that will magically increase control if you do not already have it, but I guess Prince needed a name to differentiate it from the other strings in the product lineup and Premier Control is not totally off the wall.

Comparisons Very well balanced for a multifilament. Lively, but not overpowered. Much more of a "connected" feeling than some of my favorite soft/control oriented multis, like Isospeed Control Classic, Head RIP Control and Tecnifibre Multi-Feel.

Among current offerings, overall performance is very similar to Yonex Tour Super 850 Pro, one of the firmer playing multis out there. However, the feel of Prince Premier Control 17g string really reminds me most of Wilson Reaction (no longer available). They both exhibit a crisp, connected feel in a comfortable mid-powered multifilament. What's not to like?

Tension Recommendations If I were to use this again, I would still go with my regular tension. I do not feel there is any need to compensate one way or the other. When using a multi, I am using it for a reason and not trying to replicate the performance of a poly.

String gauge and color - Prince Premier Power 18 Gauge Gold / Natural color

Tension used for playtest - 60 Lbs. on a lockout machine.

Regular string setup - Normally a full set Dunlop Black Widow 17 gauge, 50 lbs x 50 lbs strung on a lockout machine.

Racquet brand and model used - Dunlop Aerogel 4D 200 Tour.

Power of string tested - Wow, The thin gauge, plus the design attempt to create a powerful string works very well. The ball jumped off of the strings. I had to make quite a adjustment in order to maintain control on groundstrokes.

Feel - Feel was very nice. The multifilament improved comfort and provided a smidgen of ball pocketing.

Spin - This would be the largest, drawback of this string. Going from a poly to a multifilament, it noticeably more difficult to naturally get spin on the ball coming off of the racquet with these strings. A significant adjustment was required.

Comfort - Very soft and also very comfortable. The multi design again works very well to provide a comfortable feel.

Durability - Still felt great when it broke around the five hour of play mark using a fairly soft racquet.

Playability Duration- They were still feeling good and I was getting more and more used to them right up until they snapped.

Control on different strokes and different swing speeds - Serves and volleys were most effected and improved most by this string. A change of trajectory on serves, and less racquet movement on volleys were adjustments. A much greater adjustment was needed to maintain control on groundstrokes due the the reduction of spin and the additional power. These strings may work best for players with shorter swings.

Compare to 17 gauge Dunlop Black Widow - Prince Premier has the edge in power, comfort and shock absorption. Black Widow has the edge in spin creation and durability. Both are good strings, but would be used for different reasons and will provide different results.

Tension Recommendation - As a poly user, I would definitely recommend higher than normal tension when using these rockets! It needs to be strung tighter in order to maintain some semblance of control. Unfortunately, the increase in tension may lead to lower durability.

Final thoughts - This felt like a very good quality playing and feeling string. Play was consistent though durability was not the best. The same string in a 17 or 16 gauge might make a difference in the issue of durability. It is a nice string that I would recommend to players that are looking for a string to improve, or create their power. It is very soft and comfortable. Poly users that are looking for a soft, yet powerful type of cross, might like this string a lot.

Gauge: 15
Color: Natural
Tension used for playtest: 60
Regular string set up: Hybrid with poly main/syngut or nat gut cross
Racquet brand and model used for test: Volkl Organix 6 since this is a multifilament for control.
Power of test string: Average for a multi
Feel: Excellent. Premier Control is a soft string which gives good dwell/pocketing on strokes. I felt I had more time for shot-making. It changed my approach to the match since I could slice and dice alot more than going for the old top-spin standby shots.
Spin: Not a spin monster vs. full or hybrid set-ups with poly
Comfort: Very comfortable. Would recommend for anyone with tennis elbow issues. Played multiple hours without any discomfort at all.
Durability: Surprisingly little to no fraying after 20 plus hours of play. Not much notching.
Playability Duration (share thoughts on if/how the playability changed over time): Tension dropped after maybe 6 to 7 hours but continued to play well after 20 plus hours.
Control (predictable trajectory? performance on different strokes and swing speeds?): Enjoyed the ball flight/trajectory which was consistently 3 to 5 feet over the net from the baseline.
Compare to the string you use most often: Poly main Lux 4g or SPPP with syn gut or nat gut cross -- more comfort and feel hands down.
Tension recommendations (after hitting it, would you recommend a different tension? Why?): I would go to 56 - 57 lbs to increase shot depth.
Other comments: I think Premier Control would make an excellent cross in a poly main hybrid.

Which String Did I Recieve: Prince Premier Power

Gauge: 16

Color: Natural

Tension: 55#s (suggested mid range on my racket specs)

Regular Sting Set-up: Volkl V Torque Mains 18 (50#s)/Volkl Cylcone 18 Crosses (52#s)

Racket Used: Volkl Organix V1 MP

Feel: For me, I thought it felt in between a string like Technifibre NRG and Babolat Tonic Gut. It was not as powerful or soft as gut but seemed like it was closer to gut than NRG. At the net, I felt like this string was a lot better than my normal set up but I felt more comfortable at the base line with my normal set up. If I were to string this one again, I would have gone up a couple of pounds.

Spin: Thought spin was okay but I typically use a 18 gauge textured poly. I do hit topspin on both sides and was able to hit topspin fairly easily with this string but I felt like my shots were going flatter than my normal set up. I would be interested in trying a thinner gauge to compare.

Comfort: Very comfortable string. I had no arm or shoulder issues with it.

Durability: I thought it held up well for a 16 gauge multi. I think it holds up just as good as any other multi brand out there.

Play Durability: I thought it lost a little tension after 3-4 hours but it never got to the point where I felt the control was gone. Overall, I thought the durability was good for a multi.

Control: As mentioned above, there were some shots that I thought really stood out versus my regular set up but other shots where I preferred my string set up. I thought I had more feel on volleys and more punch on my serve with this string. However, I felt more comfortable swinging away with my normal string set up from the baseline and return of serves. I felt like my normal set up grabbed the ball better but if I were to string this one again, I would go up to 57#s versus 55#s which would help with gaining more control and confidence from the baseline.

Compare to Normal Set up: As mentioned above, I felt like this string was more comfortable and powerful than my normal set up. Prince Power really had a gut like feel to me which made it fun to play with. However, I do believe my normal set up had more control and spin but they are 2 different type of strings so this would be expected.

Tension Recommendation: My Volkl suggested tension range is 50-60#s. For this test, I strung Prince Power in the middle at 55#s to experiment. If I were to string it again, I think 57-58#s would be the right tension range.

Overall, I was really impressed with this string and would like to experiment with a thinner gauge that I'm used to playing with. I also think this would be a great string to hybrid with a poly using Prince Power in the crosses. As always, thanks to TW and Prince for allowing me to try out this great product.

Go Prince!

you have more feel but less control. this is confusing to me

Which Prince multi did you receive - Prince Premier Power
Gauge - 17 gauge
Color - Natural
Tension used for playtest - 60lbs
Regular string set up - Volkl Cyclone 17g 55lbs
Racquet brand and model used for test - Wilson Pro Staff Tour 95

Power of test string - Power level for this string played medium to high compared to other multis. Although it is named Premier Power, I feel this is more of a control multifilament. Shots that I miss 5 feet out with other multis is only going out by 2 ft. I am predominately a co-poly user and when going to multis, I have a fear of shots flying everywhere because of the excess power. To my surprise, I did not have that problem here.

The Premier Power is supposed to be the new and improved version of Premier LT. It states the Premier Power "allows for increased power generation compared to previous versions while still retaining maximum control." I am very much in agreement with that statement.

Feel - The string started out a bit stiff and harsh, I was not impressed by the feel aspect. It almost has a half poly half multi feel to it. That could be the reason I felt this was a control string. As I hit more with it and the stringbed had time to settle, the feel/touch got much better. The buttery feel of a multi started to shine through but at the same time, it still managed to retain that crispness and the control aspect of the string. Very nice balance, I like it!

Spin - In this category, I was very much impressed by Premier Power. Coming from full poly, I have the fear of my shots going long when transitioning to a multi but this string kept that in check! The spin I was able to generate kept most of my shots under control. Compared to some of the other multi's I've tried, Premier Power is definitely in the upper tier in terms of spin generation. There were times that I had to do a double take and look down at the string bed and make sure I was using the multi because I cannot believe these shots look so spinny, under control and its staying in play!

Comfort - For every advantage gained, there will be other characteristics lost. PPP started out harsh and stiff and was not a very comfortable string. It had me thinking how can a premium multi feel like this, its so out of character. As time passed, the strings got softer and more playable and there was a certain premium quality feel to it. Comfort is excellent at mid or lower tensions, for those that string high, do expect a stiffer/crisp feel.

Durability - I'd say its about average and on par with other multis on the market. The 17g I got looked really thin even though its supposed to be 1.25mm. I put it through some big hitting sessions and it held up quite nicely. Notching developed at normal pace, nothing excessive.

Playability Duration (share thoughts on if/how the playability changed over time) - I've strung PPP at 60lbs and it started out quite stiff, harsh but crisp. String movement was minimal to my surprise, probably due to the stiffness and power was not excessive, well under control compared to other multis. As time passed, tension lost was gradual, not a significant drop, then it settles and plays nicely, playability is relatively consistent until the end. I'd say the playability duration is one of its strengths.

Control (predictable trajectory? performance on different strokes and swing speeds?) - Without a doubt, this is where PPP shines. When I first hit with it, I felt it had the control of a poly and the power of multi but that's not possible! It was close though, it had enough spin and power was tamed to a level where everything was under control. My shots were looking beautiful, consistent and everything was staying in to my surprise. I wasn't getting that buttery feel like what I was expecting with a multi but heck, can't have everything right? Guess what, after the string settled in and it started to soften up a bit, that nice buttery feel of a multi is still there!

Compare to the string you use most often - I cannot compare this to Volkl Cyclone since one is a multi and the other is a co-poly but I can compare this to Wilson Sensation. I'd say that Sensation may have slightly more pop but control definitely goes to PPP (Prince Premier Power.) Durability is a even break and spin goes to PPP. Feel goes to PPP and comfort goes to Sensation as PPP is a bit harsh and firm/crisp. Overall, Premier Power is a much better string compared to Sensation hands down. It makes me want to go and try out the Prince Premier Attack and I'm not even a multi user.

Tension recommendations (after hitting it, would you recommend a different tension? Why?) - I strung this up at 60lbs and did not feel the liveliness that I thought a multi will have. I am perfectly fine with that because of the loads of control I have gained instead. For those that are looking for a bit more pop, I would suggest them going a few lbs lower.

Which String Did I Receive: Prince Premier Control

Gauge: 16

Color: White

Tension: 59 lbs

Regular Sting Set-up: Volkl Cyclone 50 lbs

Racket Used: Head IG Extreme Pro

Feel: At the net, I felt like this string was a lot better than my normal set up and I felt about as comfortable at the base line with this setup than with my current setup. Also, I felt that with this string, I could hit more touch shots than I could normally with my regular setup, and this string actually improved my game somewhat.

Spin: Spin from this string was actually much higher than I thought I could get with a multi. Coming from a poly, I knew that I would have to use better technique to get spin, but overall, spin was readily accessible from this string.

Comfort: Very comfortable string. I had no arm or shoulder issues with it.

Durability: I fully expected that I would break this string in 1.5 weeks, as that was what got me to move away from multis in the first place. However, 2 weeks have passed, and this string shows no signs of being close to breakage.

Play Durability: I thought it started to lose tension after 2 hours but the tension loss has been gradual, and it hasn't gotten to the point where I am hitting every ball to the fence. Overall, I thought the durability was extremely good for a multi.

Control: As mentioned above, at the net and baseline, I felt confident with this string. I thought I had more touch on volleys and more power on my serve with this string. I felt like my normal set up grabbed the ball better but if I were to string this one again, I would keep the tension at 59, because I was secure in the knowledge that I could take full swings at the ball with confidence.

Compare to Normal Set up: As mentioned above, I felt like this string was more comfortable and powerful than my normal set up. Prince Control gave me the confidence to swing out on the ball without it going out. However, I do believe my normal set up has more control and spin, which is something I need in my game. But, seeing as this is a multi, and not a poly, this is to be expected.

Tension Recommendation: For this test, I strung Prince Control at 59 lbs to counteract the increased power of a multi. If I were to string it again, I would keep it at 59 lbs, because any higher would not yield any more control, and any lower would make this setup too powerful for my game.

Overall, I was really impressed with this string and would like to see what kind of a reception this line of strings gets from the rest of the tennis community once it hits the market.
Thanks to TW and Prince for allowing me to participate in my first playtest ever. It was a blast!

Which Prince multi did you receive: Prince Premier Touch

Gauge: 15L

Color: Clear

Tension for Playtest: 65 lbs

Regular string: Prince Tour XC 15L

Racquet: Prince Warrior 100L ESP

For full disclosure, I am a Prince sponsored teaching pro.

I've been fortunate enough to try Premier Touch earlier in the year. I first tried a full bed of the 17, which I liked. Then, I tried it in the cross strings with Prince Tour XT in the mains, which...I also liked. However, since this sample was 15L, I knew that I wouldn't get a good sense of the string in my Rebel 95. Therefore, I tested the string in a Prince Warrior 100L ESP that I have been playtesting for the last few weeks. I originally installed Tour XC 15L at 62lbs, which performed very well: great spin, and plenty soft (and I don't like full poly). For Premier Touch, I increased the tension to 65lbs.

Power: I found the strings to pocket the ball very nicely. The combination of the open string pattern and the soft string provided plenty of power without becoming a rocket launcher. I wouldn't have liked it to be any more powerful than it already is. 4 out of 5 is a perfect score in my opinion.

Feel/Touch: The feel was definitely on the soft side, but I never lost the feeling of the ball at contact. I could tell, at contact, where the ball was going (if I had executed my shot, or not). I enjoyed the response of the string. 4 out of 5

Spin: For a multi, I thought the level of spin production was average to slightly above average. I, obviously, didn't get the same amount of spin that I achieved with a full poly set up. However, my topspin shots still dipped aggressively into the back of the court. I'd be curious to see this string with a low friction coating. 3.5 out of 5

Comfort: Very comfortable. When I evaluate a string, feel and comfort is among the most important factors. I would have no problem recommending this string for players needing more comfort without sacrificing performance. 4.5 out of 5

Durability: Most of my time with this string was spent teaching (feeding and light to moderate hitting). After a week of play, the center of the stringbed had become more opaque, and had only 1 strand a fraying. After a massive hitting session last night, there is some more minor fraying (but not much). The strings began to move more as the session went on, but not to the extent of a syn gut or "stickier" multi. There is some minor notching as well, but not as much as I would have expected with a 14x16 string pattern. When I hit with the thinner gauge in my Rebel 95, the string broke around 10 hours of hitting. Durability for a multi: 4 out of 5

Playability Duration: I've found that these strings have to break-in a little bit before remaining consistent. By the time I had gotten to really hit out, they had softened up and played very nicely. Like with most strings, the initial feel is a tighter, so I suggest that players give the string 45 mins to an hour of hitting (to let the coating soften) before forming an opinion. I think this is also good to know when deciding on a tension at which to install the string. When I tested the thinner gauge, I had the same experience. The string played consistently until I broke through the outer coating, exposing the inner filaments. At this point, the string became incredibly powerful, and broke within the next few rallies. 4 out of 5

Control: I felt the string response was predictable, and I was able to place my shots. I was able to hit solid drives up the line, topspin loopers, and drop shots/drop volleys. I did sail an occasional ball long, but I take responsibility for that. What more can you ask for from a multi? 4 out of 5

Compare to the string you use most often: In the Warrior 100L ESP, I'm most used to the Tour XC 15L. I found Premier Touch to be more comfortable, while producing a deeper ball with less spin (so, exactly what you should expect when comparing a multi to a poly). When I'm playing with my Rebel 95, my set up is a hybrid of Tour Bite 18 mains, and Prince Premier Attack 17 crosses. I find the bite and spin to be better with my hybrid set up, but comfort and feel is better with Premier Touch.

Tension recommendations: I would suggest players to select a thinner gauge when using a frame with a traditional string pattern. In more open patterns, like those of the Prince ESP or Wilson Spin Effect lines, the thicker gauge will perform better. In terms of tension, I suggest going up a couple of pounds from a full poly set-up. As stated, my frame was strung with full poly at 62lbs, and with Premier Touch at 65lbs. I thought this increase was sufficient, but some might want to bump it up a little further.

Summary: Premier Touch is a unique string...I have't had the experience of playing with anything similar. It provides many of the benefits of multis without being too "gummy" or fragile. After testing out this string in a full bed, I am considering using it in my teaching frames. Though I still prefer a hybrid set up for playing, I'm enjoying it very much as a cross string with Prince Tour XT in the mains.

Thanks for the opportunity TW!

String: Prince Premier Control 15L (1.35), Black

Tension used for playtest: 55 pounds (mains and crosses) strung on a Gamma 6004 with a Wise 2086 tension head (constant pull); installed via one-piece, around-the-world pattern. RacquetTune reading 54.4 fresh off the machine.

Regular string set up: Shaped Poly Mains (Tier 1 Firewire 1.20, Snakebite 1.25) crossed with Gosen OG Micro 1.22 (53/57#)

Racquet brand and model used for test: Bosworth Tour 96 leaded at 3 & 9 o’clock, static weight 358 grams

Power of test string: This string provided good power compared to my normal setup. I felt that I was able to let my racquet do more of the work which saved my arm from having to generate so much racquet head speed.

Feel/Touch (responsive on slower strokes? too dead/stiff?): Feel was slightly above average, and I was generally able to put the ball where I wanted; touch could have been better and I suspect it would have if I’d tested the string in a thinner gauge.

Comfort: Above average, especially compared to my normal co-poly hybrid. When I demoed the string, I was just coming back from six weeks of rest due to my first bout with golfer’s elbow. This string didn’t seem to aggravate or otherwise hamper my game.

Spin potential: Below average; again, this is likely because the string gauge was 15L.

Durability: After several matches, strings are showing average movement; black color has worn off the strings in the center of the bed, although in gauge 15L, there’s still a lot of play left in these strings.

Playability Duration (share thoughts on if/how the playability changed over time): Racquettune was 54.4 fresh; then 49.5 on day 17; so, three matches later and the strings had only lost 9% tension. There has been very little decrease in playability.

Control (predictable trajectory? performance on different strokes and swing speeds?): I didn’t feel like this string had anything but average control. To be fair, this could be because I normally play with 17g or 18g strings, and the demo string was a 15L. That’s quite a difference and, as a solid 4.5 player, I rely on a good amount of spin to play an aggressive, attacking game.

Compare to the string you use most often: There is really no comparison between a multi and a co-poly, the string I use most often. The Premier Control felt quite a bit softer, but there was a marked loss of spin.
Tension recommendations (after hitting it, would you recommend a different tension? Why?): 55 pounds felt about right for this string. I can speculate that if I had demoed it in a 16g, then I would have tried about 57 pounds; in a 17g, I would have tried 60#.

(Optional) List any additional thoughts:
About me: Early 40’s. Solid 4.5 player with some 5.0 weapons (serve, forehand, & consistency) and an aggressive game who enjoys both singles and doubles. One-handed back hand.

Thank you Tennis-Warehouse and Prince for having me in the playtest.

This was my experience too. I thought it was very predictable with directional control. Depth took a little while to adjust coming from a poly hybrid setup, but was not much of a transition for me. I see some of the 16 guage playtesters not having as great of an experience. Maybe the thinner guages provide more control, not sure why that would be though.

I've tried PPA in hybrids and thought it gave more launch capability, although I haven't played it in a full bed. My hunch is PPP is a little stiffer, but it might be interesting to do a side-by-side playtest.

Which Prince multi did you receive Prince Premier Touch

Gauge 15L

Color Clear

Tension used for playtest 60 lbs on Alpha Revo

Regular string set up Pacific Tough Gut mains and either Lux 4G or Genesis Black Magic Crosses, or Gamma TNT2 17 if I use a multifilament string.

Racquet brand and model used for test Volkl C10 Pro

Power of test string I will rated this 7 out of 10. It was more powerful than the TNT2 I usually use when I don't play the gut/poly hybrid. It was probably. Depending on the exact gut hybrid I play, it was probably similar in power to that. It was not hard to adjust to playing with at all.

Feel Definitely had much more feel than the TNT, and similar but not quite as good as the gut/poly hybrids. It really gave good consistent feel on all shots, which is about all you can ask for. If you want better feel, you probably need to play with natural gut. 8/10

Spin Better spin than TNT, but definitely not as good as the gut/poly hybrid. It was better than TNT even at a much thicker gauge, so I think something like 17 gauge would yield even better spin. I would give it 7/10.

ComfortI can be a little sensitive to string, which is part of the reason I don't play with poly except as a hybrid for the most part. This string gave me no issues at all and felt quite good on the arm. 9/10.

Durability This is a little hard to gauge because the string was so thick. Normally 17 gauge TNT2 lasts me about 3-4 hours and the 16L gut/poly hybrid lasts me about 12 hours. This setup broke about 9 hours of play and drills. I will rate it a conservative 7.5/10.

Playability Duration (share thoughts on if/how the playability changed over time) This is where it really seemed to shine as well. It played very similarly the whole time. The last hour and a half or so maybe it lost a little but overall I will give it 9/10 here.

Control (predictable trajectory? performance on different strokes and swing speeds?)Very good here. It was definitely better than TNT2, but not as good as the guy/poly. Generally the ball went where I wanted it too, and I had no issues with balls flying or anything like that. 8/10.

Compare to the string you use most oftenFor me, nothing really compares to gut/poly. However I almost always keep a frame or two strung otherwise because some days it just doesn't feel right, or the weather dictates playing with something else. TNT has been a string I played 20 years ago and still play with because I know exactly how it will perform. I would definitely like to try this string in a thinner gauge to see how it performs. All things being equal, I would choose it definitely over TNT. However, I am guessing that this is going to be at the upper end of the price spectrum as it just feels expensive. It is definitely a good string though.

Tension recommendations (after hitting it, would you recommend a different tension? Why?) 60 lbs seemed just about right for me in my frames, which is about what I usually string my gut and my TNT at. I wouldn't change it.

I will say that visually this is one of the cooler looking strings on the market, especially in my black C10 pro. I had more than one person ask me what string it was, and that almost never happens. A+ on the cool factor. As for stringing, the heavy gauge made it a little harder to string just feeding it through the grommets and it made the knots a little bulkier, but no big deal. It had a little bit of coil memory, but not bad. No real issues there.

Thanks for the opportunity to playtest this string. I may try this in the future in a thinner gauge if it is available and it isn't too cost prohibitive.

Gauge: 1.35
Color: Clear
Tension used for playtest : 25 kg
Regular string set up : Pro's Pro Strategem 1.35
Racquet brand and model used for test : Babolat AeroPro Drive
Power of test string : these strings are very powerful. Its a little overpowered for my taste.
Feel : The string felt very nice in the AeroPro Drive. It gave very nice feedback.
Spin : The spin wasn't very good with this string and at times I couldn't make my shot dive down at the court.
Comfort : The comfort of this string is very good even for a multifilament. I would recommend this string for anyone who has or had a history with arm problems.
Durability: Durability wasn't so good compared to most strings even compared to some multis. The 1.35 mm help a little to make it last longer however it doesn't last long. The Durability is very similar to the Wilson Hollow Core.
Playability Duration (share thoughts on if/how the playability changed over time): The Playability Duration was probably the most shocking to me. Most multis don't hold string tension as well as this string. This held a good tension till it broke (granted it didn't last very long). Similar to natural gut but not quite there yet.
Control (predictable trajectory? performance on different strokes and swing speeds?): Due to the lack of spin I found this string to have very little to (sometimes) no control. I would sometimes need to slow down my racquet head speed to control the ball.
Compare to the string you use most often: I usually use a polyester based string so compare to the string i normally use I really don't like this string however it was a decent multi.
Tension recommendations (after hitting it, would you recommend a different tension? Why?) : I would recommend stringing this at 60-65 lbs just to add a little control to this string. I would also recommend this string to beginner to intermediate players that are looking for some power for their game. For those who have arm problems but don't want to sacrifice control i recommend hybriding this with a very low powered poly such as Luxilon TiMo or a spin based string like the Babolat RPM blast.

Regular string set up : Pro's Pro Gutex Ultra 1.30 48 lbs / Luxilon ALU Power 1.25 45 lbs
Racquet brand and model used for test: Wilson BLX Prostaff 95
Power of test string: This string was very powerful. It really help add a ton of power to my underpower BLX Prostaff 95.
Feel: This was a exceptionally good feeling multi. It felt great even when I mishit the ball.
Spin : The spin of this string is average. I usually don't hit a lot of spin and this string gave about the same amount of spin as my usual setup.
Comfort: This string was very comfortable on the arm. I felt like I could play days without stopping (assuming i had the energy) and without any arm issues.
Durability: The Durability of this string was a little below average. I usually break multis within 2-3 weeks and this broke in a little over a week.
Playability Duration (share thoughts on if/how the playability changed over time): The playability of the string is exceptional before the string broke. It maintain tension very well throughout the time that I played with it.
Control (predictable trajectory? performance on different strokes and swing speeds?): The control was pretty good. As long as i concentrated on striking the ball with a good amount of spin I felt like I could hit the corners however on mishits the control was terrible.
Compare to the string you use most often: Compared to the string setup i normally use this string is strikingly similar. There is a little more power and control as long as you hit the ball cleanly but it lacked in spin and on mishits it didn't perform as well.
Tension recommendations (after hitting it, would you recommend a different tension? Why?) : I would recommend this string at 52 lbs because I think at that tension It might help with getting the mishit shots in and this string is very comfortable so stringing it a little higher won't be a problem.

Did not change much after it set in after the first half hour of hitting.

Control (predictable trajectory? performance on different strokes and swing speeds?)
Control was below average, not nearly as much as a poly.

Compare to the string you use most often
It was much softer than RPM and had a lot more power but had less spin potential and less control.

Tension recommendations (after hitting it, would you recommend a different tension? Why?)
I might end up stringing this higher than 58.

Last impression:
Good multi but nothing special, not for good players but great for those who are just beginning with little spin in their game. It was extremely low on spin potential but clearly had a god amount of power. It was not suited for me and i dont expect to change to it.

That will be an interesting playtest, let's do it! I keep hearing lots of good things about PPA in the forum here so I am curious how it would measure up to PPP. Anybody that have experience with PPA feel free to chime in.
